The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure maintains the high quality of the series and presents a satisfying (but temporary) ending to the Crossbell arc, offering significant upgrades on PC and Switch compared to the original PSP version. The expectation now is to see how the tenth game in the series, Trails into Reverie, will make the most of the elements of this story and the Erebonia arc to offer a more conclusive resolution [to the current story] and kickstart the next adventures in the Zemuria continent.

I couldn’t have asked for much more from Trails to Azure. It fixes almost every issue I had with Trails From Zero and improves itself in nearly every way. The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure stands comfortably alongside some of the greatest RPGs I’ve ever played and is an early Game of the Year contender. Fans of the genre definitely shouldn’t miss it.

With improved pacing, more quest variety, and engaging combat, even the title’s issues with an over-long finale, aging graphics and beautiful, albeit overused, music can’t pull down an otherwise excellent adventure.

A JRPG that is everything with the sum of its predecessor installments. A story of action and mystery accompanied by a turn-based combat of the most classic and more than a cliché of the average fantasy anime. The result in a game with which it is difficult not to get attached if you have already played and enjoyed Trails from Zero.a saga.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is nothing short of an epic RPG story. It's not as good an onboarding point for the greater series as its predecessor Trails From Zero was, but that cost just means bigger ambition with the narrative beats and world explored.  It's worth noting it's not as polished as it should be, showing its age with the lower visual fidelity and framerate dips. However, the priority with NIS America is clearly just getting the game out there. Frankly, what a game it is. Crossbell is as magical as ever and it was a heartfelt joy to experience the second and closing story for the SSS team. You're not getting many experiences as special as this one. I love and will miss you, Crossbell.

Another gorgeous and generally rock-solid JRPG experience, though not terribly different from its predecessor

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played, and one of my favorite games in the Trails series. The thought provoking story is memorable, the characters look fantastic and are full of personality, the turn-based combat is polished, and the music is phenomenal. Trails to Azure absolutely lived up to the bar Trails from Zero set, and surpassed it with flying colors. I did run into a couple bugs, and there were some issues with the translation, but those were not enough to bring this one down too much. I highly recommend this game to fans of the franchise and RPGs. However, since this is a sequel, you should at least play Trails from Zero before getting into this one. Trails to Azure will set you back $39.99 digitally and $49.99 for a physical copy, and I say it’s worth every penny.

Trails to Azure is a continuation game of The Legends of Heroes saga, which brings us back to Crossbell's heroes in a new journey to save their city. A tactical RPG with a completely personal power customization system known as the Orbal System, which is exclusive to this series. The settings and character design are simple, but effective, giving all the importance to the soundtrack and the plot.

With writing this outstanding and characters this endearing, Zero fans get a satisfying conclusion to the Crossbell Saga minus the sense of déjà vu.

Trails from Azure adds a few improvements from Zero, but it's consistency is what's most important. A griping story with great characters and a fun combat system makes Azure a game that shouldn't be missed.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure closes Crossbell's arc within The Legend of Heroes franchise and surpasses its previous installment, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, in practically everything, anyway you can't understand one without another and it is as recommended as necessary to play both. We finally have them here since their launch many years ago in Japan and we can only hope to see our heroes again in Trails into Reverie, the game that acts as an epilogue and union of the Crossbell arc and Trials of cold Steel.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails To Azure offers a rich narrative and engaging characters, with commendable English localization. Despite an outdated combat system, the game remains engaging due to varied attack options. It improves on its predecessor with a fast travel system and diverse side missions. However, dated visuals and a high entry barrier for newcomers are minor drawbacks. Overall, it's a solid RPG that will satisfy fans of the series and narrative-driven games.

Trails to Azure is an easy recommendation, even if it’s an old game for $50. You just need to have played everything else, which admittedly is quite the undertaking in its own right.

it's not necessarily the best entry point in the series for new players, but it's a satisfying conclusion to that arc for fans, and it's a darn good RPG altogether.
