Despite the issues, LEGO 2K Drive is a promising beginning to a potential sub-franchise from 2K. There are great ideas that enamor me, thanks to how comforting they are. I hope that if the plan is to do another, the developers don’t try to toss in genres that don’t work here haphazardly. I hope they concentrate on going quickly and create side-quests that make sense for a car.

LEGO 2K Drive is a terrific addition to the LEGO video game universe, with a bright and breezy atmosphere, super fun races and a fantastic creator mode with classic LEGO jokes aplenty for all ages, sadly tainted by egregious and forced microtransactions which are all too easy to consider thanks to the slow progress of earning in-game currency. For a game at full AAA price of £70, it’s difficult to justify why they were included at all and ultimately brings down the entire experience.

The return of the Lego Racer with intuitive control and brilliant action. The story unfolding in the charming open world and creative mode that fulfills Lego fan's desire are also attractive. Though 2K's notorious micro-transaction is still there, it is a quality game for having fun with family and friends.

LEGO 2K Drive is a colourful, fun and light title, as well as a pleasant surprise. It's not a perfect game or one with great competitive pretensions, but it allows us to spend several carefree hours in numerous activities. Recommended for a young audience as well as a more experienced one, especially for social evenings thanks to the local multiplayer.

LEGO 2K Drive is an exciting, colourful romp through the endearing world of BrickLandia where everything is breakable, colourful and the good vibes are turned up to 11. The game shows how LEGO is for everyone no matter your age as I was "oohing" and "ahhing" throughout my playthrough at the care that was put into developing a world not made from LEGO but also interesting to explore and race around in. Though the game does have some issues, such as the not-so-enticing Garage vehicle building mechanics, I had a pretty fun time cruising round' an open world where everything is awesome.

Lego 2K Drive is a solid offering. It takes the best parts of Mario Kart, adds some vehicle transformations from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and borrows open-world game design from Forza Horizon, but with a Lego twist. Driving is enjoyable and the game’s performance is well-optimized. The mini-games are all sorts of fun and quite challenging as well. Lego 2K Drive is a solid foundation for a potential new franchise.

LEGO 2K Drive is one of the most fun arcade racers in recent years and already one of my favourite games of 2023, and one that I really hope to see become a long-lasting franchise.

There is simply so much to do in LEGO 2K Drive with engaging side content and a car creator that will soak up as much time as the game itself, that regardless of age you will be amused for hours. The multiplayer is what we have come to expect, joining a pal is seamless and once you’re done player 2 can just drop out without a second thought. The release of LEGO 2K Drive means we could be looking at one of the best family-friendly racing games around and we can’t wait to finish off the rest of the side missions on offer.

LEGO 2K Drive is a fantastic racing experience that’s sure to appeal to both younger players and those who take their driving VERY seriously. The open world looks great, is full of events to complete, and lets you unleash your destructive side by smashing through seemingly endless LEGO blocks, whilst it’s super rewarding to show off your creative side with the robust vehicle creator. Plus, the racing feels great, which is perhaps the most important aspect of all.

LEGO Racers was yesterday, LEGO Drive is the future. At least that was the plan of 2K, who together with Lego created a kind of Forza Horizon for the playroom. And that works surprisingly well. Detailed and large worlds, peppered with numerous story and side missions as well as a wealth of challenges and collectibles await diligent explorers. Unfortunately, you have lost sight of what is probably your greatest strength: you are no longer a fun racer.

The vibrant open world of LEGO 2K Drive features solid racing mechanics that give the game a feeling of fun controlled chaos but grind and troublesome monetization plague this child-friendly game.

Overall, LEGO 2K Drive is a surprisingly competent racer that I totally did not expect, and while it is mostly aimed at a younger target audience, more experienced players might be pleasantly surprised at what LEGO 2K Drive has to offer. There are a lot of side activities and collectibles to be had in the game, and when not exploring, players can take part in the campaign mode to race it up against other aspiring champs. There’s also a local and online co-op to take on other racers across the world. Sadly, the aggressive monetization really ruins a lot of the fun in the game. There’s always a choice not to use this avenue, but between the low payouts per race, the long grind, and the expensive pricing, the push to spend more Brickbux is as powerful as ever.

LEGO 2K Drive is an absolutely enjoyable and family-friendly fun-racer in an open-world-environment. The game transports the LEGO-formula very well and along with its unique humor, LEGO 2K Drive is a racing-game that stands out. However, there are some flaws regarding the open-world-design and the implementation of microtransactions.

The 2K Lego Drive can become a fun title and a fun experience for all family members, especially young people. Although AI of the game has largely eliminated the challenge of the races, despite this, the matches and the Lego environment are so attractive that you can still enjoy it, but the main problem comes back to the $70 price and the in-game purchases. They have no special justification. In the end, this title should either be offered for free with in-game purchases, or at a price of $40 without in-game purchases. But 2K decided to tag it as a $70 AAA title and pocket more money by opening an in-game store. Thus, if you are interested in experiencing this title, it is better to hold off until the end of the year when the game is on sale.

A solid first lap for a racer that might need a bit more time to hit top speed, LEGO 2K Drive is still worth playing whether you're young, old or somewhere in between.

Lego 2K Drive has thrown many popular arcade racer ideas together and asked, what works? For the Lego fan, this is going to scratch a specific itch. I don't think we need to see a "Scotty Smash" to fix this build, but to fulfil the desires of Lego racers, young and old; some tweaks will be needed in a sequel.

LEGO 2K Drive smartly wields the kart racing genre as a foundation for familiar LEGO game mechanics like creative building and open world exploration. Its casual, humorous tone will appeal to any LEGO or TT Games fan. Aside from unfortunate in-game purchases, the actual racing and LEGO construction are intuitive and offer strong replay value.
