The Last Guardian Reviews
The Last Guardian certainly feels like a masterpiece that will gamers will look back to. While it might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's a unique game that that everyone should try to experience.
For decades now, there's been discussion of games as art, and what qualifies or what doesn't, but in my view, art simply has to provoke discussion, emotion or analysis. If one game qualifies for that, it would be The Last Guardian.
The Last Guardian is an incredible journey with an unforgettable friend... plagued by a poor camera and some frustrating moments.

The Last Guardian takes you on an experience to see and feel things that no other game can. Essential for anyone who wants to see a game which pushes boundaries and genres.
The long wait is over. After almost a decade of development, The Last Guardian is ready. This epic and touching adventure has a lot of great moments, but important issues with the camera, stops it of being a perfect video game.

Just as the huge creature protagonist of his story, The Last Guardian is a unique game, with an unusual and fascinating shape. It is an adventure in some way out of time, which retains a glimmer of distant memories. It is a noble game, yet inexplicably fragile.

Like Team Ico's past work, talking about The Last Guardian too much inherently drifts into spoiler territory, but we have years to unpack this. For now, I'm confident in saying that although it isn't their best work, there really aren't too many directors out there like Fumito Ueda, and I hope for our sake, he continues making games.
I'm glad that Sony saw this one through. The publisher could've canceled it even in the face of fan hype, but it stuck with Team Ico and gave The Last Guardian a chance to wow fans. The final product doesn't feel like a 2016 game. Instead, it's this strange adventure that invites you to get lost in its world. I love that, and I think anyone who loved Team Ico's previous games will appreciate what they find here.
Trico may not belong to any earthly species, but he moves and behaves – and, sometimes, is just as frustratingly unmanageable – as a real dog or cat
The Last Guardian is a story about the bond formed between man and beast where loyalty and friendship trump instincts. It's not perfect as Trico's AI can be finicky and the pacing will not be for everyone. Nevertheless, if you like games that challenge your knack for problem-solving and also appreciate storytelling that's both touching and raw, The Last Guardian is a game with timeless appeal that's very much worth the wait.
Regardless of a few messy puzzles, the way The Last Guardian communicates this message is worth paying attention to.
The Last Guarding is a unique experience that might not suit every gamer. It is a slow based game that require you to indulge in it's amazing world and once you do you will in love with it. The heart of the game is the emotion and connection you build with Trico that turns into trust that will take you forward. If only it had a better camera system maybe it would have really been one of the greatest games of this generation.

The Last Guardian is an impressive journey of one boy and his animal companion Trico. There's emotions, beautiful sceneries and sophisticated level design. However, it's certainly not a perfect game. But if you're looking for something different, you're at the right place.

The Last Guardian is the game we needed in 2016
Prepare your handkerchiefs, because from this point on, the matter is serious. We approach the final chapter of history, and we prefer not to tell you anything.

An emotional journey, a decade in the making
Trico is battered and bruised and bloody by the end of this story and he remains a faithful friend until the end. His sacrifice and the emotional weight it carries are incredible. Near the end there is a climactic battle and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a character I care about so much be so utterly brutalized. It’s haunting. He risks everything to protect you, everything. And it feels so good when you get to return the favour in one of the most bittersweet endings to any game I can remember.
The bond between the boy and the Trico tugged at my heartstrings. Even though the controls and camera made the game a little unnecessarily frustrating at times, the story and relationship developed made up for the flaws.
Not quite up to the same standards of its predecessors, but this is still an emotionally draining and beautifully realised story of friendship against the odds.
