Persona 5 Tactica Reviews
Throwing the cast of Persona 5 into a world of turn-based tactics works incredibly well, and the mechanical twists made to support it pay off in a very gratifying way. Outside of that, there are very few risks taken in the narrative – it’s a low-stakes plot that bubbles along, gives the game a stop-start feel, and ultimately feels like the peripheral side-story that it is. But when your favourite characters are tearing up the battlefield and wiping out whole armies of enemies in a big All-out Attack, Persona 5 Tactica feels like the best interpretation of the Phantom Thieves spirit.
Persona 5 Tactica impressed me by going well beyond my expectations. By merging traditional tactics RPG gameplay with ideas and concepts unique to the Persona series, it creates a fresh, exciting experience. When you bundle this creative foray into a new genre with a loveable cast of characters and an engaging narrative, you get one of the best games of 2023. If you loved Persona 5, pick this up. If you haven’t played Persona 5, do that, and then pick this up.
Persona 5 Tactica has a fun and dynamic gameplay loop, and a story with potential but all that ends up undermined by repetition and an excessive amount of dialogue that has little to no substance.

Persona 5 Tactica brings a tactical adventure rich in customization that does not leave aside the elements of the series on which it is based, with good accessibility in terms of difficulty, covering different levels of players of tactical titles. Exuding its own charisma and style, typical of the Persona subseries, Persona 5 Tactica features excellent art and sound direction, with emphasis on the dubbing that features the original voice actors reprising their roles.

Persona 5 Tactica is a super accessible SRPG without the depth you'd expect from a game of this genre. It's clearly thought of as an SRPG title for Persona 5 fans who probably haven't even played a turn-based strategy game. It might be interesting for curious Persona fans, but most would probably invest their time better playing Mario + Rabbids, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Mutant Year Zero, Triangle Strategy, Tactics Ogre, Disgaea or any other name that does greater justice to the genre.

Persona 5 Tactica is a good spin-off that from a formal point of view effectively traces the mood of Persona 5, with its typically Japanese lighthearted style, a story focused on self-determination, as well as an excellent soundtrack full of engaging songs enhanced by Lyn Inaizumi's voice.

Persona 5 Tactica is an SRPG that shines with adorable art, excellent music, and dazzling creativities. However, somewhat easy gameplay and shallow strategic depth fail to provide players with the engaging challenge they might be seeking. It could be a great experience for the fans of the Phantom Thieves but may not be as appealing to those of the SRPG genre.

Persona 5 Tactica offers a refreshing twist to the formula that brings in some cool ideas, even IF it can get a bit repetitive over time. The combat is intuitive and tactical, it looks fantastic, and the storyline managed to hook me in, so it’s clear that it does a lot right. It just has a few missteps too, with some repetitive showdowns, a lack of exploration, and an overfamiliarity with the Phantom Thieves letting it down a little. I still had a really good time with the game and it’s exciting to see the series take a different direction, but I think I’m ready to move on from these characters and see what the future of Persona really brings.
Persona 5 Tactica is the new tactical style RPG from the Japanese developer Atlus. An installment that follows the story of the Phantom Thieves after the events of P5 Strikers. A title that develops gameplay different from the previous ones with a completely chibi artistic style and a soundtrack inspired by previous installments. A decent and entertaining game, but it doesn't add much to the saga's journey either.

While not a bad game, Persona 5 Tactica feels empty and…rushed.

Atlus successfully translated the turn-based combat system of their 2017 masterpiece into a competent tactical experience in Persona 5 Tactica.
Persona 5 Tactica succeeds on various fronts, from being the perfect gateway to the tactical role-playing genre or the Persona franchise for newcomers to putting a uniquely stylish spin on strategic games and making it a layered experience for strategy or series veterans. It moves fast and flows smoothly, all thanks to the top-tier, aesthetically stunning animation and exciting gameplay elements. In addition, the way Persona 5 Tactica presents its relatively simple story is also applaudable, with masterful use of numerous types of cutscenes and naturally written dialogue. But the heart and soul of Persona 5 Tactica lie in its colorful roster of characters, each with its own varied personality that brings a certain charm to the game.
Persona 5 Tactica features all of the great styles and characters that fans of the Persona franchise have come to love, and even adds a few new ones. The new look works surprisingly well for the series, but returning fans might be disappointed with the underwhelming gameplay and the lack of the franchise’s famous social features and deep storytelling.
Persona 5: Tactica stands out as a commendable turn-based RPG with intriguing and somewhat complex gameplay. However, it regrettably has the tendency to become monotonous due to repetitive elements over time.
All in all, Tactica is a coherent package with great music, gameplay, and characters. While it never reaches the heights of its mainline predecessors, it has its own place in the universe and I’m happy it exists. Joining the Phantom Thieves on another adventure always feels like reuniting with old friends.
Persona 5 Tactica is a fun spinoff game but perhaps it's time for Atlus to finally retire anything related to Joker and the Phantom Thieves. The teat has been milked dry. Only dust is coming out now.
Persona 5 Tactica has a wealth of systems and mechanics that work well together, elevating the experience and giving the genre a fresh twist that's more than just the usual. Paired with series staples such as One More and Persona fusions, all of these form a cohesive effort that is brimming with personality and fun. That said, it is a "lighter" take on the genre. It isn't particularly difficult or challenging, and Personas aren't particularly useful enough, unlike the mainline titles. Even then, Persona 5 Tactica is a serviceable spin-off that fans may enjoy before the inevitable move to the next mainline Persona game.
Persona 5 Tactica is fun, and it makes the strategy genre easier to approach. The gameplay is a bit one-sided, though. Quests did deliver the necessary challenge and variety. The visual style feels cheap compared to the main game. Of course, the trademark music is still amazing. While it didn't wow us, we still had a bunch of fun.

Persona 5 Tactica may be simple for a tactical RPG but between solidly adapted mechanics and a great story, the Phantom Thieves’ latest outing is as stylish and enjoyable as ever for fans.
While inevitably overshadowed by its big brother, Persona 5 Tactica definitely has its own legs to stand on. The accessible, yet engaging combat system, a new story with its own twists and turns, as well as the excellent art style make this an easy game to pick up and play. What it lacks however, is anything truly outstanding. While competent at all aspects of the game, nothing stands out as particularly new or captivating, dooming this to remain forever trapped a shadow in the metaverse that is Persona 5.
