There has never been anything quite like “Blue Prince”. The game combines “Myst”, Escape Rooms, “The Crazy Labyrinth” and roguelike elements into a fascinating addictive package. Day by day, room by room, I delve deeper into the world of Mount Holly Mansion. Everything puzzle/roguelike-game that comes after it will have to measure up to this magnum opus. For me, it is already the game of the year.

But this is also part of Blue Prince and its return to a slower, more thoughtful way of playing video games, which pushes you to keep pen and paper handy, invites you to stop for several minutes to observe the setting, to think carefully about the positioning of each individual room and the actual functioning of the floor plan, and above all asks you to often abandon the path you are stuck on to explore new directions, accepting the idea of losing and finding yourself facing yet another dead end. Too much for today's market?

Blue Prince offers strategic depth, but its overreliance on luck can turn joy into drudgery. Whether it’s worth your time depends entirely on your luck.

Blue Prince is an extraordinary achievement in puzzle games and its scale is incomprehensible and unlike anything I've seen in this genre before. This game is more than just a journey of an heir claiming his inheritance.

Despite frustrations with the random elements of gameplay, Blue Prince presents an experience that is unique, memorable, and as ever-shifting as the rooms of Mt. Holly. It throws you into a mystery full of mysteries and will ask you to take enough notes to create your own conspiracy board.

Dogubomb have created not just one of the best games of 2025, but also a title that feels like it will be discovered for years to come – and even when players reach that 46th room, there will be other aspects of obscure puzzles and notes scattered around that yearn to be solved. This is a game that will absolutely be a GOTY for many, many people in 2025 – very much a huge recommendation from us here at GF and absolutely deserving of our rare 10/10 rating.

Blue Prince made me feel like a genius. It also made me feel like an idiot. The two experiences are intrinsically linked; the stumbling bewilderment making the moments of breakthrough all the more brilliant. If you’ve even a passing interest in puzzles, play Blue Prince. And do so resisting the urge to look up any of its answers. Because provided you’re willing to take notes, your perseverance will, tile by tile, piece together the solutions to one of the finest puzzle games I’ve ever played.

Blue Prince is an extraordinary experience – one that manages to blend strategy, storytelling, and puzzle-solving into something truly special. Its smart mechanics, clever design, and deep mysteries make it one of the best games in its genre (or perhaps in any genre), and whether you’re a long-time puzzle veteran or a curious newcomer, Blue Prince is an unbelievable experience that is worth getting lost in. It has really upped the bar for what players should expect from puzzlers and is a clear early contender for 2025’s Game of the Year.

Blue Prince is astonishing, refreshing, and its rabbit hole goes so deep I haven’t been able to find the bottom yet — despite rolling credits weeks ago.

To call The Blue Prince a puzzle game fails to acknowledge the many, many ways its intricate systems will surprise and excite players eager for secrets and mind-teasers. It's one of the most unique puzzle games in years, and while its tricks and mechanical hurdles can trip you up, The Blue Prince is a masterclass in design for those eager to lose themselves in a mysterious, clockwork mansion.

Blue Prince is a breath of fresh air on the market, with an ingenious idea that blends several genres. The gameplay is efficient and perfectly integrated into the universe and concept. You'll always want to do it all over again, even if you've been stuck the last time. Nevertheless, the title isn't perfect, and may discourage some players. The non-linear progression is an advantage for a unique experience. However, it could also be a drawback for neophytes wishing to discover. And let's not forget that, for the moment, the title is only available in English. I'd mainly recommend the title to regular puzzle gamers looking for an out-of-the-ordinary experience.

Blue Prince already stands out as one of the most interesting games of the year. Thought-provoking, challenging and why not even frustrating at times, but still very inventive and fun. But maybe frustration is also a valid experience, isn't it?

Blue Prince’s endlessly clever design, crafted to gently assist you as you push for that 64th room, coupled with a bottomless well of riddles and secrets, make this one of the greatest experiences this year. It’s been over 15 years since I last set foot in my grandparent’s house, and having that same sense of wonder and intrigue evoked after so long makes this a strong GOTY contender in my books. Prepare a notepad and pen, and expect more challenges than you can possibly anticipate!
