Blue Prince is as peculiar of a game as its protagonistâs deceased relative. An odd puzzle/adventure game with progression and pacing that often get in the way of your success for the sole benefit of artificially keeping the journey going. If you do happen to resonate with it, youâll find a good distraction to poke at for hours, one thatâs best suited for multiple sittings and plenty of sleuthing both in and outside of it. Itâs the type of thing youâll have to sleep on and maybe might find the next solution, or just want to chuck your chosen gaming system out the closest window.

There has never been anything quite like âBlue Princeâ. The game combines âMystâ, Escape Rooms, âThe Crazy Labyrinthâ and roguelike elements into a fascinating addictive package. Day by day, room by room, I delve deeper into the world of Mount Holly Mansion. Everything puzzle/roguelike-game that comes after it will have to measure up to this magnum opus. For me, it is already the game of the year.

Dogubomb have created not just one of the best games of 2025, but also a title that feels like it will be discovered for years to come â and even when players reach that 46th room, there will be other aspects of obscure puzzles and notes scattered around that yearn to be solved. Blue Prince made me feel like a genius. It also made me feel like an idiot. The two experiences are intrinsically linked; the stumbling bewilderment making the moments of breakthrough all the more brilliant. If youâve even a passing interest in puzzles, play Blue Prince. And do so resisting the urge to look up any of its answers. Because provided youâre willing to take notes, your perseverance will, tile by tile, piece together the solutions to one of the finest puzzle games Iâve ever played.
