While not every game in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is equally balanced or polished, the variety and care taken in preservation make it a standout retro bundle that’s definitely worth the price.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 offers solid value with eight well-emulated fighters—four 2D and four 3D—enhanced with rollback netcode and online play, though the inclusion of multiple entries from the same series may feel redundant depending on your preferences.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 may lack the star power other collections, but it more than makes up for it with quality, rarity, and historical value. This is a collection made for fans – especially those who lived through the Dreamcast era – and it brings back several games that were once locked away on aging hardware. The Power Stone titles alone make this worth the price of admission, and the strong online performance makes them feel more alive than ever. I can’t wait to dominate other players online, and honestly, being able to re-visit it in multiplayer so many years after the Dreamcast days is a real treat. And sure, it’s not without its quirks, but this second Capcom Fighting Collection is undoubtedly a love letter to a fascinating chapter in fighting game history, and one that all fans of the fighting genre are sure to enjoy.

Ignoring one or two slightly dated titles, plus a truly terrible one, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 goes to show that no one is doing arcade gaming preservation as well as Capcom right now. Just the inclusion of Capcom vs. SNK 2 by itself, in such a pristine, rollback-supported stated, is enough of a reason for you to purchase it, but add in games like two Power Stones and the best version of the best Street Fighter, and what you have here is more than a lot of bang for your buck. What we have here is an infinitely enjoyable collection of fighting works of art.

A love letter to fighting game obscurities, delivering cult classics with modern polish. While the absence of Rival Schools stings and Capcom Fighting Evolution remains forgettable, the stellar online-ready Capcom vs. SNK duo and chaotic Power Stone revival make this a must-buy for genre devotees. Not every gem here shines equally, but the rollback netcode and wealth of extras elevate it beyond mere nostalgia bait.

Having now spent a few dozen hours playing Capcom Fighting Collection 2 across Switch, PC, and Xbox, I can’t wait to play more of Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Power Stone 2 online with friends post-launch. Some game collections are worth owning just from a historic and preservation perspective, but Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is absolutely worth grabbing just for great portable versions of a few of the games included. Even as a newcomer, this collection shows Capcom truly wanted to give these games the love they deserve, making them accessible on modern platforms.

Despite a lack of extra game modes apart from the barebones arcade standards, the quality of life improvements and massive amount of extra goodies outside of the games come together with that standout selection to make the best version of this series so far.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 represents yet another must-have collection of classics signed by the legendary Japanese software house. Drawing directly from the glorious (and ill-fated) Dreamcast era, the selection ranges from some of the best fighting games in history to iconic arcade action games via great little forgotten gems. Once again, this is a must-see for every retrogaming fan and anyone who wants to savor tasty pages from this sweet video game past.

Whether you choose to fight locally or online, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has got you covered in all the best ways. Sure, not all of the games are made equal, and that's true both in the past and the present, but in terms of a collection, it is still a significantly outstanding one. It remains to be seen just how much more Capcom can draw from the well, but since we are here, let's enjoy the goodness while it lasts.

Maybe not all the games in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 are on the same level, and certainly not all of them have aged equally. But together they form an honest portrait of a specific era of Capcom's most daring and original era. A time when they were allowed to try new things, mix licenses without hesitation, and release such unique games. That we can now rediscover them like this, lovingly and in the best possible conditions, is something fans of the genre should celebrate. Capcom has done it again, and we're delighted to be back in the ring and looking forward to a third installment.
