I’ve had a lot of fun exploring Silent Hill F’s stunning town and story, and I am glad to say that this is by far my favorite Silent Hill game to date. After playing the Silent Hill 2 remake, I thought that would be the epitome of the series, but this new one is even better. It retains the aura and style of the series, while adding more combat to it, and exploring an entirely new location. It’s not a very long game, but it’s intense and visceral at times, not to mention profound and extremely immersive.

Silent Hill F is a great survival horror title, and a true return to the classic series from Konami. It mixes things up well throughout its roughly 10-hour runtime, and I enjoyed both what the more grounded and the more hellish areas of the game had to offer. As a relative newbie to Silent Hill I can't wait to see where things go from here, and I really think developer NeoBards has what it takes to learn from F and improve on it for what's next. Silent Hill is finally back on Xbox, and it was worth the wait.

Silent Hill f brings back the classic Silent Hill in a unique setting in 1960s Japan. The game looks both beautiful and unsettling at the same time, and the story is full of mysteries that are neatly uncovered over time and playthroughs.

An oppressive atmosphere. An unsettling story that will keep you guessing from beginning to end. Engaging combat. Stunning visuals. A fantastic soundtrack. Silent Hill f has all of these, making it one of the best entries in the series yet.

Everything the Silent Hill franchise has offered over the years is here in Silent Hill f. The chaos and fear takes over you at every turn, and while it has some performance issues on the PS5 Pro, it doesn't diminish how artistically beautiful, fun, and horrifying this game is. Without a doubt, a title that should be in the collection of any gamer and fan of the genre.

Silent Hill f is a slow-burn horror game that doesn't put its best foot forward, but once it has its hooks in you, they're not coming out. The compelling and well-crafted story does a fantastic job of drawing you in and keeping you invested, even potentially through multiple playthroughs. The combat mechanics can feel a tad overdone. I think Silent Hill f is the best entirely new entry in the franchise in ages, and while it has its flaws, it shows that there's still plenty of life in Konami's franchise.

A haunting and harrowing journey into a seemingly quiet Japanese town that despite its unfamiliarity manages to captivate its audience to elicit both empathy and horror.

Silent Hill f is everything that should have been to bring the franchise back to its peak. We are faced with a game that innovatively utilizes the principles, rules and identity dimensions of its series and portrays some of them more broadly than before. The game's narrative is engaging, deep and complex, its meaningful symbolism and integrity appear in the dimensions of design and narrative returned, breathtaking atmosphere and wonderful music. Silent Hill f is a bold, intelligent and deep game that tries to try new approaches and move the franchise forward in a meaningful way.

SILENT HILL f blends the foggy, oppressive atmosphere of classic Silent Hill with the hallmarks of Japanese horror, delivering an experience that is both aesthetically rich and deeply unsettling. The narrative depth brought by Ryukishi07’s writing, combined with the intricate design of Ebisugaoka town, its overarching symbolism, and Hinako’s diaries, elevates the game far beyond a mere spin-off. That said, the question of whether it really needed to carry the Silent Hill name remains open for debate; it could just as easily have stood on its own as a Japanese horror title in the vein of Fatal Frame.

The developers of the game paint on their canvas terrifying and shocking moments that will remain in our memories for a long time. With all its positive points, this work becomes one of the best horror works released in 2025.

Silent Hill f is a compelling yet flawed return for Konami's iconic horror series: narratively strong and visually striking, it immerses players in a haunting psychological nightmare set in the eerie Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. Hinako's touching and unsettling story is the highlight, but the experience is held back by basic combat, limited enemy types, and a design that requires multiple playthroughs to fully understand the plot without enough gameplay variety. Despite interesting ideas and solid presentation, the game loses momentum over time, feeling repetitive and lessening its emotional impact.

Silent Hill f takes us to 1960s Japan with a dark, symbolic, and psychologically deep story. It combines exploration, clever puzzles, and more complex combat than previous entries, while still retaining the essence of the series.

Silent Hill f took us on a brutal, wonderful, and brilliant journey, thanks to its superb artistic direction and a change of course that was as daring as it was effective. As players of early survival horror games such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, Silent Hill f is exactly what we expected from a modern horror game. It offers both accessible and challenging puzzles, gruesome monsters (although we would have liked even more variety) and enormous replayability thanks to multiple endings, all enhanced by high-quality graphics, excellent performance—with very slight and sporadic frame rate drops (at least on standard PS5)—and smart features that help in terms of quality of life and bring it up to today's standards. Silent Hill f is a masterful horror game that is on par with other “masterpieces” of the survival horror genre, and we highly recommend giving it a try.

Silent Hill f is vastly different from most of its games in the series, but it's one of my favourites because it's so different. It steps away from the status quo and delivers a unique story in a unique time period. You'll never feel at ease exploring the village, and around every corner lurk some of the most twisted enemies that will stop at nothing to get to you.

It's super tricky to rate Silent Hill f because its strengths and weaknesses are so far apart. If we only had to rate the atmosphere, it would definitely be at the top of our list because what this horror game does with its graphics and, above all, its sound effects is pretty awesome. The intense mood that greets us as we search the abandoned environment, but especially in the presence of the monsters, which we try to avoid if possible, is brilliantly implemented. If we are discovered, the mood escalates immeasurably, in a good way. It makes us break out in a sweat when we explore the upper floor of a house while one of the bizarre creatures is up to mischief on the ground floor. The game also plays nicely with our expectations, as we are virtually on constant alert, bracing ourselves for a jump scare, which, however, is quite rare and occurs in far more unexpected places. Nevertheless, we are constantly on edge, which is perfect for a game of this kind. The visual implementation of the atmospheric locations, the bizarre monsters, and the haunting parallel world is also excellently done. The characters and their emotions are also well captured, but the story itself never really appealed to me, as its strong focus on Japanese folklore is a little too far removed from my personal experience. I could live with that, though, because the Silent Hill feeling is definitely there. The combat system is where things get difficult for me. Instead of a similar beat-'em-up gameplay as in the remake of part 2, the developers opted for a completely undynamic, clunky, and imprecise Souls-like offshoot, which I found frustrating throughout. In addition to the strange, exaggerated animations, it was mainly the constantly empty stamina and imprecise controls that drove me to the brink of madness time and time again. Even for someone like me, who has no interest in Souls-like games, the story mode was too tough in the fights. The puzzles, another typical Silent Hill element, weren't exactly groundbreaking, but they were well implemented overall and a fitting addition to the rest of the game. All in all, Silent Hill hits the nail on the head in terms of atmosphere, but the combat system, which takes some getting used to, spoils the fun for me in many places. In the end, this leaves us with a mid-range rating for a game that definitely had more potential.

Silent Hill f is a bold, visually stunning new entry that successfully modernizes the series with a Japanese setting, an engaging narrative by Ryukishi07, and a robust, action-oriented combat system. While the fighting mechanics initially feel clunky and the late-game shift toward action may alienate purists, its deep lore, intricate puzzles, and strong character development make it a thrilling and rewarding experience.
