It’s worth buying, if only to discover or replay MGS 4 (which can be purchased separately, by the way). Don’t expect major additions or changes to the titles it includes, because there aren’t any. There are enough of them to enjoy in good quality on our current platforms and screens, but nothing beyond that. Obviously, these are the best versions of each game you can play, but they’re not going to blow your mind.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is a great addition to the Master Collection series. It finally brings MGS4 out of its PlayStation 3 jail and brings it up to modern standards. As I played through the game, I couldn't help but get emotional. Even without multiplayer, it's still worth the experience. On top of that, Peace Walker looks as great as I remember, and it plays incredibly well.

Even though the series did reach its conclusion and Hideo Kojima is long gone from Konami, we believe the Metal Gear franchise still has more to offer. It feels great to be a Metal Gear fan, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds. Until then, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is another solid compilation of classic era-defining games that can now be relived on modern consoles.

Master Collection Vol. 2 is an incredibly valuable package. Freeing Metal Gear Solid 4 from its PS3 prison alone raises the collection's worth, and with Peace Walker included alongside it, the result is a complete and flawless set. This collection is a true treasure chest for MGS fans, and this time, Konami has proven that it respects its legacy.

It may not be the most complete Metal Gear collection, but it finally gives MGS4 the excellent modern release it deserved.

This pack is an essential part of the franchise and it's notable to see MGS4 finally available in more systems. There's a legacy preservation effort and the pack is full of extras, but there's a feeling that, as a collection or a new way to present these games, it could still be more.

A significant portion of Metal Gear history, once spread across three different hardware generations, can now coexist under one roof on modern systems. From a game preservation perspective, this cannot be underestimated. Most importantly, after 18 years, Old Snake is no longer locked inside an old PlayStation 3.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 offers an opportunity to revisit some of the series’ most notable titles on modern platforms while preserving the stories and gameplay that shaped its identity. Although the collection does not always deliver the level of technical enhancements expected from a modern release, the quality of the games themselves remains evident, especially for those who never had the chance to experience them before. Ultimately, this collection may not be the ideal upgrade for everyone, but it remains an important release for Metal Gear fans and those looking to experience one of the most distinctive stories in video game history.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 fails to capture the same sense of completeness offered by the first collection. It is less generous in terms of content, more disorganized in its presentation, and the two major games included here are among the most debated entries in the series. Nevertheless, it is not a package that anyone who loves the series could easily turn down. Because the real value here lies not so much in offering a compilation, but in rescuing games that have long been buried on dusty shelves.

A faithful, technically solid port that finally frees Guns of the Patriots from the PS3 and proves both games have aged far better than expected.

"A Legendary Comeback After 18 Years" Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 offers one of the most significant re-releases in the series' history, especially with Metal Gear Solid 4 finally leaving the PlayStation 3. Despite the deconstructed interface, limited DLC, and some signs of age, Guns of the Patriots remains a solid stealth and combat experience, while Peace Walker adds important strategic depth, and Ghost Babel delivers an excellent surprise for fans of the series. The collection isn't perfect, but it remains a valuable opportunity to explore a key chapter in Metal Gear history on modern consoles.

It might have fewer titles than Vol. 1, but Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is a lot more polished out of the gate and is historically important for freeing both Guns of the Patriots and Ghost Babel from their years of isolation locked on their respective release systems. Guns of the Patriots in particular now gets a chance to be remembered by new generations as a key part of the Metal Gear franchise and one of Hideo Kojima’s most unique entries in his oeuvre. If there is going to be a Master Collection Vol. 3, you’d hope it would include not only a complete version of MGSV: The Phantom Pain with Ground Zeroes incorporated, but also releases of the leftovers of the franchise, specifically Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (another PSP title), as well as Revengeance and I guess might as well throw in Metal Gear Survive for completionists. The Metal Gear series continues to be one of the most unique, strange and memorable franchises in video game history.

This collection is worth it purely for MGS4. It still lives up to modern standards due to amazing artistic attention to detail when it was made, and the visual approach is still remarkable. It needed very little attention, and simply breaking it free from PS3 is enough to be excited to pick up Volume 2. That being said, outside of MGS4 there is no real added or additional benefit to the new collection which is a slight drawback.

Even if it features fewer games in absolute terms, and basically no extras to speak of, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 somehow feels less “lazy” than its predecessor, even though that collection was already pretty great to begin with. The inclusion of a fully remastered Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has never looked or played better, is worth the admission ticket alone. A remastered Ghost Babel is another fantastic addition, while the inevitable inclusion of Peace Walker rounds out the package nicely, even if, as previously mentioned, it still feels like only half of the complete Big Boss story.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is worth it almost entirely for Guns of the Patriots, finally freed from its PS3 exclusivity and looking better than ever — though the missing Online mode and recycled Peace Walker keep this from being a truly complete package.
