Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 offers the chance to experience two important and classic entries in the Metal Gear series under improved conditions, which is appealing in its own right. Fans no longer need to track down an old console or wrestle with the numerous issues and limitations of emulators. But the real question is: at what cost? This package comes in at $50, and despite some enhancements, you're ultimately still dealing with the same original versions of the games, especially in the case of Peace Walker, which could have greatly benefited from graphical upgrades. Master Collection Vol.2 can serve as a convenient and stable way to experience MGS 4 and Peace Walker, but you should be prepared to face the fact that these titles are, in some respects, outdated.

Despite a light content line-up, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is worth purchasing for one reason alone: Metal Gear Solid 4 is no longer trapped on the PlayStation 3.

I may be a bit biased as Metal Gear is one of my favorite franchises but I recommend Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 to anyone out there that has played the previous games. Metal Gear Solid 4 finally being available on every major current platform makes this collection worth it alone in my opinion but Peace Walker and Ghost Babel both add a lot more playtime to the collection. All of these games have never played better either as they run at a smooth 60FPS and look better than ever.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 really stands out thanks to Guns of the Patriots. The rest are really just curiosities. Peace Walker has its moments, but after Phantom Pain it won’t surprise anyone. The rest is just cosmetic tweaks and nostalgia. Boxed editions are becoming a thing of the past, so buy them whilst they’re still affordable.

In short, MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 is a must-have package for anyone who bought and enjoyed Vol. 1. Konami did a phenomenal job porting the titles, even though the games individually have their positive and negative quirks. When to buy it, however, depends much more on your attachment to or curiosity about these titles than on a recommendation to play them immediately. Otherwise, it's best to wait for a sale.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is a good compilation overall. The games vary somewhat in their execution and porting quality, but they remain engaging titles in a series that isn't afraid to get weird or experiment. It is also nice to finally have a way to play the majority of these games on one platform at a time when some franchises still leave their biggest titles scattered across multiple inaccessible systems. Fans won't need much coaxing to pick up this compilation, but it is reassuring to know that some care went into putting it together rather than simply treating it as a quick-and-dirty ROM dump.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is merely adequate as a compilation, but a must-have for Metal Gear Solid fans because of its selection. Both Peace Walker and the long-awaited Guns of the Patriots remain wonderful experiences even today.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is a bundle of three games. It includes Metal Gear Ghost Babel, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 4. The games remain true to their original form, with only the necessary, minimal adjustments made to ensure playability. It delivers exactly what you would expect from a collection like this.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is a package of great value, perhaps less rich than the previous collection, but finally freeing Metal Gear Solid 4 and bringing the whole saga to XBOX. Its gameplay still feels ahead of its time, and Peace Walker's progression is addictive. Konami's lazy remastering work and thin extras disappoint, but after eighteen years, the wait was worth it.

While there’s less in the way of content than Vol. 1, I’m still a massive fan of everything on offer. It’s simply nice to have two previously inaccessible games on modern hardware, both treated to much nicer 4K/ 60 FPS facelifts.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is a nostalgic trip whose stealth gameplay and atmosphere still hold up, even if imprecise gunplay, blurry comic cutscenes and visible age make it hard to win over a new generation.

The Master Collection Vol 2 doesn’t feel quite as big as its predecessor; certainly, there are fewer than half the titles of that first lot. What it lacks in volume, however, it makes up for in quality by bringing some of the least accessible titles of the franchise to modern platforms. The Switch 2 port runs just about as fast as it did on my PC and I don’t feel like anything was lost in terms of graphical fidelity, which isn’t surprising given the long generational gap between it and the PS3. The only negative things I have to say are around the ways these games haven’t exactly aged well for one reason or another. The collection itself, though? More or less exactly what you’d hope it would be. If you’re a Metal Gear, however, fan then this is an easy pickup, and being able to play it on a portable handheld? What a thrill.

highly recommend *Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2*. While the first compilation felt more like fan service to me, here you can really sense that Konami genuinely wants to make all of its games accessible and well-known. Even though the titles in this collection are historically the least popular, that doesn’t make them any less interesting. If you’re also passionate about the history of video games, you can spend hours exploring the Konami archives included in the collection. It’s not perfect, and one might wonder if the price is entirely justified. But in an era when thousands of games are released every year, it’s becoming essential to preserve the ones that shaped the industry.

The games in the Master Collection Vol. 2 remain timeless, and these modern ports do what they set out to do: run well without any game-breaking issues. However, both Peace Walker and MGS4 suffer from some issues, such as audio and visual bugs that need to be patched out to give these games the definitive versions they deserve.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 brings together three memorable entries, with Metal Gear Solid 4 finally receiving a modern remaster at 4K and 60 FPS. Peace Walker retains its engaging base-building and cooperative mechanics, while Ghost Babel is a welcome surprise, although the absence of Metal Gear Online and limited story guidance hold the collection back.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is a particularly important compilation for bringing back Metal Gear Solid 4 and allowing us to enjoy it outside of the PlayStation 3 for the first time. Peace Walker demonstrates that there is much more to this collection, and Ghost Babel contributes a little gem that deserves to be rediscovered. Konami could have been even more ambitious with the selection, but the result represents a significant step toward preserving and keeping a fundamental part of Metal Gear history accessible.
