Replaced Reviews
With its sharp presentation, REPLACED will have you grappling with emotions, and it was well worth the wait.
You'll want to take in Replaced's retrofuturistic version of dystopian USA as much as possible, but the phenomenal visuals can only do so much to make up for the above-average combat and puzzle-platforming.
The key factor in Replaced is whether you’ll be captivated by the visuals and immersed in the cyberpunk universe enough for them to push you forward despite the setbacks – and there are plenty of those, as the repetitive combat and unresponsive controls in the platforming sections can really try your patience. Ultimately, this is a game that’s better to look at than to play.

Replaced's jaw-dropping pixel-art visuals elevate the slower plodding place of the 2.5D platforming, with a beautifully realised dystopian setting aiming for the high-concept of Bladerunner but perhaps landing on the enjoyable romp of Total Recall.
Replaced in many ways explains why it took so long to arrive. It pours most of its effort into art and world building, with top tier pixel visuals, cinematic framing, and a thought provoking setting all standing out as clear strengths. Beneath that striking presentation, however, the gameplay feels thin. Formulaic storytelling, repetitive level design, and a shallow combat system make its ten hour journey leave little lasting impression.

At the end of the day, Replaced is a game that I was only interested in because of the cyberpunk elements, but after many hours of playing it, it won me over in many ways. The hypnotic soundtrack and breathtaking visuals make Replaced a must for fans of cyberpunk or dystopian themes.
Replaced is proof that the independent scene can deliver an experience that surpasses the production of large AAA studios in many ways. It's not a game for everyone. It's a game that will absorb you with its style and won't let you go until you see the end credits.

REPLACED is a beautiful, narrative driven experience, and that’s where the game is at its best. It tells a very interesting, gripping story, and I found myself fascinated with the great locations, mesmerizing backgrounds, but also the intricate characters found within the game. Sad Cat Studios hit it out of the park here, the game is not only visually impressive with its pixelated art style, but also the well-written story.
Sad Cat Studios makes its debut with REPLACED, a gripping adventure that rewrites humanity's known past. Some 80 dystopian and retrofuturistic settings serve as the backdrop for the story, which takes on special significance as the game progresses. Outstanding art, visceral combat, and platforming come together to create an action title where everything blends perfectly to form a well-rounded video game.

A sci-fi indie game with enjoyable gameplay and truly excellent direction: it's a shame about the side quests, which aren't quite up to par, and the lack of originality in the narrative.

Cinematic 2D action adventure games don't get much more striking or immersive as REPLACED and its intuitive gameplay systems are superb. 🚨
Replaced will go down as a wonderful production that could have been a more robust package.
Replaced is the debut from developer Sad Cat Studios and manages to convincingly portray a 2.5D style. Graphically it looks great, but unfortunately the pace is very slow and the story is not always convincing. In short, it just plays well.

REPLACED is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates how indie developers can create experiences that rival big-budget productions through focused vision and exceptional artistry. While it has flaws that prevent it from reaching perfection, the core experience is so compelling that these issues fade into the background. This is exactly the kind of ambitious, thoughtful game that deserves support. Sad Cat Studios has created something genuinely special—a cyberpunk tale that asks important questions while delivering stunning visuals and solid gameplay. For anyone interested in narrative-driven gaming or exceptional pixel art, REPLACED is an essential experience. In a year full of impressive indie releases, REPLACED stands out as a genuine masterpiece that will likely become a cult classic. Don't let this digital soul's journey pass you by. – ColdMoon
REPLACED combines stunning pixel art and realistic lighting to create one of the most immersive cyberpunk worlds in recent years. Beyond its striking visuals, the game shines through its deeply human characters, emotional storytelling, and melancholic atmosphere. While inconsistent controls and a slower middle section hurt the pacing at times, the powerful final chapters and thoughtful exploration of identity and humanity make REPLACED a memorable experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

REPLACED is an amazing feat of art direction, story telling and world building. It isn’t trying to be a massive open-world RPG, it is a focused, 8-to-10-hour cinematic experience that wants to tell a specific story in a specific way and captivates you from the start. If you have Xbox Game Pass, this is a must download. Even if the weighty platforming isn’t your usual style, the sheer visual spectacle and the “Batman-lite” combat are worth the price of entry alone. It’s a bold, confident debut from Sad Cat Studios that have taken many inspirations of iconic gaming to prove that indie games are still the best place for artistic risk taking and this may be a cult classic Indie in the near future.
There are definitely far too few games on the market these days that offer a unique adventure that you’ll simply remember with a smile on your face. That's precisely what Replaced offers. Just play it!

Replaced blends cinematic pixel art with a dystopian cyberpunk world inspired by Blade Runner. Its engaging atmosphere, fluid combat and strong audiovisual presentation make it memorable, even if repetitive mechanics and minor technical issues prevent it from reaching its full potential.

It’s clear that Replaced is one of the most visually impressive games of the year. In fact, it’s one of the best-looking games in its entire genre.

Replaced isn’t a game that fully lives up to its ambitions, and it would be dishonest to present it as such. Sad Cat Studios’ six-year development effort has produced a visually stunning, narratively solid, and gameplay-wise robust title, though it isn’t without a certain structural repetitiveness that gradually saps some of the initial enthusiasm. The combat works until it gets bogged down in the poorly balanced complexity of the final stages; the platforming is solid but not without its flaws; and the experience might leave you feeling exhausted after the 13 hours required to complete it. Yet, when Replaced is at its best—and it is for nearly its entire duration—it’s an experience capable of leaving a lasting impression, far beyond the limits dictated by an aesthetic legacy waiting to be embraced.
