Packed to the gills with activities and swimming with great characters, In The Jungle is just as charming and surprising as the base game.

If this is the level of what we get in an expansion, I can’t wait to see what Bancho the Chef is like, and I’ll still keep waiting for the real Dave the Diver 2.

Dave the Diver: In the Jungle is proof that Mintrocket understood exactly what makes their game special and decided to double down without betraying its essence. This is the kind of DLC that puts full games to shame with its generous amount of content, delivering over ten hours of adventure featuring a brand-new turn-based combat system, an entire village to explore, an almost irresponsible amount of minigames, and a tactical overhaul that refreshes a three-year-old game as if it were a brand-new release.

Mintrocket have advertised the In the Jungle DLC as the largest and most ambitious DLC for Dave the Diver yet; a huge celebration of the title’s third birthday. It’s safe to say that the team have absolutely delivered on a spectacular birthday blow out for Dave and the gang, with tonnes of new content, a fun mystery to solve and a host of delicious new dishes to salivate over.

I'll state the obvious first: If you enjoyed Dave the Diver, you'll enjoy this DLC. While the basic structure is "more of the same," the mechanics remain solid and fun. The sections in Utaru Village and the new characters are very welcome additions that give the game a sense of community where Dave finally gets the respect he deserves at a narrative level. Some of the new minigames and activities—mainly the turn-based combat—don't quite fit in. They're not necessarily bad, but they do disrupt the otherwise excellent pacing of the game.

Dave the Diver In the Jungle is a fantastic DLC that could be sold as a game in its own right, and is packed full of new ideas and jungle charm.

In the Jungle is a phenomenal expansion for Dave the Diver, the wildly entertaining game from Mintrocket that has been a huge hit since its release in 2023. Our favorite diver faces a new setting and a slew of exciting minigames, ranging from rhythm games to JRPG-style turn-based combat. Bancho is no slouch either, and this time he’ll have to temporarily set aside sushi to focus on barbecuing at his new Bancho Grill! The content is endless, and for just 10 euros, Mintrocket offers us dozens of hours of fun. In the Jungle is simply a must-have DLC for all Dave the Diver fans.

Dave the Diver: In the Jungle is definitely a must-have DLC. It feels like the perfect way to continue the Dave the Diver saga, and the addition of a plethora of content makes it worth the price tag and the time commitment. It’s not just a short, done-and-dusted additional pack—it feels like a well-polished game. It has a great blend of both old and new mechanics that keep the game engaging.

Dave the Diver: In the Jungle is exactly the kind of expansion that many studios try to produce and few manage to deliver. It doesn't seek to reinvent what already worked. Instead, it takes the foundation built by the original game and adds new layers, new systems, new characters, and a huge amount of supplementary content.

Dave the Diver is a fantastic game, and In the Jungle is every bit as good. The quality and variety on offer are something few games can match.

DAVE THE DIVER In the Jungle doesn't feel like a DLC; it feels like the kind of expansion games used to get. It slips naturally onto the end of the base game, respects the time players have already invested, and expands the world without changing what made it special in the first place. Instead of feeling like a separate product, it feels like coming home after a long trip and discovering there are new rooms in a house you already love. I spent days playing, writing guides, cataloguing fish, and exploring every corner of Utara Lake. By the time the credits rolled, I realised something unusual had happened: At no point did I feel like I was rushing through content. Instead, the DLC kept introducing new activities, new characters, and new surprises at a pace that made me want to keep playing just one more in-game day.
