Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition Reviews
Guardians of the Galaxy was criminally overlooked when it first came out on other platforms. This single-player adventure is full of heart with equally fun gameplay to match. It's also a shame that the disastrous Cloud version on the first Switch cast a large shadow on an otherwise stellar release. But those dark days are over. If you can stomach some performance issues, this is one bright and resonating story you'll want to experience at least once. Without the need of a constant internet connection, you can take Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition outside in the sun, literally!
Now, for me, the fact that I can play this game on an airplane or in bed is a priceless feature. You don't have to give me new skins–the fact that it works in Handheld mode alone is worth the price of admission. That said, you should play this game however you can, whether on Switch 2 or something else.
Offers a terrific mix of action, adventure, strategy, and Marvel-ous fun, but it’s also unfortunately a bit crash-prone at the moment
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 is the ultimate way to rediscover one of the best single-player story games in recent years. Thanks to stable local performance, mouse and gyro control support, and bonus outfits, the game succeeds in delivering a loud, incredibly fun, and cinematic experience whether you are playing on the TV or on the go.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition understands what makes the Guardians so special, delivering a memorable adventure through well-developed characters, humor, an engaging story, and versatile combat. Its journey across the galaxy is equally entertaining, featuring varied environments and a soundtrack that perfectly captures the team’s spirit. While the Nintendo Switch 2 version has some technical issues and limitations, they are minor setbacks in an otherwise enjoyable and emotional experience that fans of Peter Quill and his crew should not miss. Ultimately, it proves that the Guardians have much more to offer beyond the big screen.

It’s great to see so many ports of major games arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2, but I feel like the floodgates opened a bit too soon. The first few ports I tested on the console were flawless, but I’ve increasingly noticed releases that feel rushed and lack polish. It’s a shame—I was genuinely enjoying the title and plan to return to it once future updates arrive—but I simply cannot recommend a poor version of a good game.

Guardians of the Galaxy has been given a new opportunity to bring people together around a story that isn’t simply about traditional heroism. We have a family—individuals carrying their own traumas who chose to stay together, even despite their mutual distrust, because they know they belong there. The teams at Montreal and Square Enix succeeded in capturing the very essence of the story Marvel intended to tell. They’ve taken the comic book heroes we know and placed them in a narrative about saving the galaxy once again—a journey in which, ultimately, they must also save each other.
