Kernel Hearts does not aim for the depth of Devil May Cry or NieR, and it lacks the huge item pool of other roguelites. What you get is solid build variety and progression that keeps exploration rewarding. It opens up levels instead of trapping you in rooms, and the bosses are the best part.
