Darknet is something that could technically work in a traditional, non-VR environment, but the immersive nature of the game does feel justified. Even though it was daunting, I loved looking around the world and figuring out where to go next, and for the price, I'd consider it one of the Oculus' must-have games.

While it may have unique puzzle gameplay that can truly get difficult at times, Darknet is definitely not the next game you will be using to showcase your PSVR hardware.

Darknet isn’t the flashy PlayStation VR game that you’ll show to friends, but it’s absolutely one of the best games available for the headset. The puzzles are consistently challenging, and battling against the clock makes for an intense affair. The experience is really brought together by the inclusion of an interesting game world, that kept me interested enough to continue playing well after the freshness had worn off.

Using the different sets of tools is a game of tactics as well, with the combination of exploits and hydras, to remove the shields and capture the nodes in large areas really quickly, being used with brutal efficiency.

While Darknet does have a few problems, most of them tend to be more inconveniences rather than a detriment to the gameplay. The dual-layered approach to puzzles is unique and satisfying, while the games enjoyable viewpoint and challenging use of time limits come together to polish off a wonderful puzzle game.

Darknet is one of the early VR games that should be on anyone's short-list of great titles.

A hacking simulator that's actually not silly, and makes good use of VR.

Darknet is another great addition to the Playstation VR catalogue, with the game offering hours of enjoyment hacking your way through countless networks. Whilst it doesn’t really utilise virtual reality in an overly complicated way, the immersion it offers by simply corresponding with the theme of the game is fantastic; the ‘cyber’ vibe is perfectly portrayed when you’ve got this whole network feeling like it’s actually spread out around you. Whether you’re a fan of puzzling or you just want to try something a bit fresh on Playstation VR, I’d definitely recommend giving Darknet a purchase.

Darknet is unassuming in its complexity. This works to its advantage as much as it holds it back, resulting in an intriguing yet flawed experience entirely its own–especially within the VR atmosphere.

It may not be the PSVR game that you show off to your friends to make them jealous, but it's a challenging and addictive puzzler that begs you to play just one more level.
