South Park The Fractured But Whole is like a 20-hour episode of South Park. A satirical take on superhero films, it looks, sounds and feels the part – for the good and the bad. Essential for fans of the show, not for those that are easily offended. And absolutely not for kids!

Surely you've ever seen on television a chapter of South Park, the series that revolves around a group of children in the town of South Park, Colorado.

Cartman returns once more to inject some crude one-liners into a South Park turn-based RPG game that'll have you grinning from ear-to-ear from beginning to end. If you can deal with all the loading times you have a very loud and proud fart indeed.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is ridiculously offensive and absurdly hilarious.

During my time with South Park: The Fractured But Whole, I have been attacked by hillbillies for being cisgender, trapped in a dark room with two randy priests, and somehow managed to bend time and space with my own flatulence. To top it off, these moments are mild in comparison to what else the game has in store.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a fantastic follow up to the Stick of Truth, its a must buy for any South Park aficionado and still a blast for everyone else. Ubisoft took the development in house this time and didn't disappoint, its well written with a giggle every few moments, the game isn't perfect with a few small bugs and the sense that the difficulty isn't there to support the games mechanics and some might argue the value but overall this game is just a blast.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a good game, but fails at living up to the expectations set by its predecessor The Stick of Truth. Unfortunately, the gameplay was padded so much with filler that it killed the pacing. In Ubisoft's desire to make a Triple-A blockbuster, they instead weakened something that could've been a Double-A masterpiece.

What does every superhero need? A hilarious origin story, of course. This is given to you by The Coon and involves walking in on your dad f*%$ing your mom.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a brilliant game that fans if the TV show will definitely enjoy. It has everything that makes the TV show so enjoyable. As a game, it could do with being a little more difficult with a larger map, but those minor complaints are outweighed by almost every other aspect of the game. The Fractured But Whole is a prime example of how a TV show can be effectively turned into a video game. There have been many attempts at South Park games over the years and this one is definitely one of the best. If you played the first or are a big fan of the show, you need to pick this game up.

South Park, The Fractured but Whole is an uncreative game with a terrible plot filled with forced and unfunny jokes. The battle system from the original was demolished replacing it with a new shallow one. This game somehow ended up being much worse than its predecessor.

The Stick of Truth managed to salvage my love of the series. Now, 3 years later, I feel that South Park: The Fractured but Whole has sought to destroy the bridges its predecessor rebuilt. The funny moments are sporadic, lost amongst a series of tired gags and namechecks, but the gameplay goes someway to saving the overall experience.

If you're a fan of the South Park series, you're going to love this. It's packed full of references and Easter eggs from the show's 20+ seasons and many of the smaller references will be more meaningful to those fans. It's easy to see that Ubisoft and South Park Studio's made this game 'For the Fans' and they nailed it.

For dedicated fans of the series, The Fractured But Whole is an essential purchase. It greatly rewards those who have an extensive working knowledge of the past twenty years of the television show. Fortunately, it is also finely crafted enough that casual and lapsed fans who might have left the show behind but still have a fondness for it will find plenty to enjoy about it.

South Park: the Fractured but Whole is a great sequel for Stick of Truth. There are significant improvements to the gameplay and the combat mechanics but the jokes are way less funny than the first game.

If The Fractured But Whole is your first South Park game, you’re in for a treat. If it isn’t, you’re still in for a treat. Just don’t expect it to surprise you as much as the last one did.

While The Stick of Truth felt like an extended, interactive, episode of South Park, The Fractured But Whole instead feels like an external story that just happens to be taking place in the show.

Overall South Park: The Fractured but Whole gets a 9/10, the humour is great for those who meld well with its style or if you’re a fan of the series. The gameplay has improved greatly from the first game with more strategic thinking being required for later parts of the game. The dungeon maps are longer with more puzzles, if a bit fewer in numbers in comparison to the first game.
