F1 2016 is definitively the best Formula One game Codemasters has ever crafted. Deep and nuanced, stuffed with fan service, and as demanding as you’d like it to be, this is worthy fare for the motorsport obsessed while remaining accessible for the merely curious, and absolutely worth the upgrade from previous years. If F1 2016 and last year’s Dirt Rally are indicative of the level of quality we’re going to get from Codemasters going forward I can’t wait to see what’s next.

After last year’s largely disappointing entry Codemasters amends almost all of the game’s faults with F1 2016. With a great sense of speed and a plethora of options and game modes F1 2016 is one of the most engaging racing experiences ever made.

A championship season and time trial mode are both accessible and each will push you to your talent limits. Overall, the mix in gameplay and modes are both satisfying and rewarding. Above all, the pure physics system and exact handling of cars are what fans should enjoy the most. Even for those who aren’t quite familiar of the sport or don’t play racing simulators, F1 2016 has a little bit of everything for everyone.

If you are a fan of the Formula 1 racing then this is a game for you. You can tell time was taken in its development creating a detailed true to form game for the franchise. I would have loved to see some extra beginner-friendly modes, but between the tutorials and some extra practice you will be picking it up and crossing the finish line in no time. If someone like me could have fun writing this F1 2016 review, Formula 1 veterans are sure to have a blast!

Although the game can sometimes get a bit technical and the race weekends can be quite long (about an hour or so for a short weekend), we think F1 2016 is great fun. With so much content to jump straight into there is no way you could be disappointed with this game. The game gives you a very real Formula one experience, almost akin to the real thing.

F1 2016, in many ways is just like the sport itself. It’s interesting before the race begins, as viewers can spectate the inner workings of the sport, but once the race gets going, and racers continue to pass laps one by one, it all turns into a one, soul destroyingly dull blur, which soon makes one want to switch the channel, as nothing is happening, and you’re simply watching the same Rolex banners over, and over again.

Overall, F1 2016 is a definite improvement over last year’s entry. It was Codemasters’ first F1 game on current-gen consoles and it was lacking some key features but F1 2016 makes a triumphant return to form with impressive visuals and boasting a fully-fledged campaign mode that is as multi-faceted as it is captivating. You get a lot of content with F1 2016 and any racing enthusiast should strongly consider picking this one up.

If you're an F1 fan then it's probably a no-brainer. It has the latest tracks, includes all the latest rules, and the current line up of teams and drivers. If you're not an F1 fan but still like racing games it's still probably worth your time, thanks to an engaging career mode and enough granularity in the settings to make you work for that win.

F1 2016 is the game Codemasters has almost been making for years; complex, feature-full and still packed with the adoration for the sport that the studio has demonstrated since it got its hands on the license back in 2010. For anyone that’s a fan of racing, this is without the doubt the most unmissable recreation of it you can buy. For anyone that likes going fast, this will probably convince you, too.
