BioShock: The Collection Reviews
The BioShock trilogy is still three masterpieces that demand attention. While the first game hasn't aged particularly well, the sequel never got the recognition it deserved, and the third game is ultimately pretty disappointing, but they're still all worth another playthrough. The Switch port is masterfully done, smooth and crisp, and a great way to experience these games for the first time or revisit them.
After all these years, BioShock: The Collection has easily stood the test of time, and bringing it to the Switch seven years after the launch of BioShock Infinite gives new gamers a chance to experience an iconic and groundbreaking series that will remind people to be polite and always preface a request with the simple phrase “Would you kindly?”
If you haven’t played Bioshock before, this is truly a masterpiece of collection. It includes three great action games, and especially the first two is still outstanding. Howerer, Bioshock: The Collection doesn’t really offer anything new. It would have been more than welcome with more content for those that already have played through the series.

Despite there being no real improvements or enhancements to any of these games, it is hard to deny the quality of these three games. The BioShock franchise consists of three of the best games we have seen in the past decade and these are the best versions you can get of them. There isn't much in new content but the base content of this collection alone is an incredible value.
For anyone that missed these games, this collection is a no-brainer. For those that left their old consoles behind, this is a great package that delivers these games how you remember them. Outside of a few technical hiccups this collection is up there as one of the best of this generation. All three games are worth playing, and returning to them only solidifies how much I truly want a new BioShock.
Unfortunately, you’ll see a remaster decline here as it’s not as well attended to as the first Bioshock game.
A collection worth buying? Well, only for some right now.
BioShock: The Collection is the best way to experience the world of Rapture and Columbia. All three games and their DLC look great and, despite a slightly creaky port of the first game, perform well. Unfortunately, series veterans won't find anything new, meaning that the visual upgrade and the convenience of having everything pulled into one package are the only reasons to return to games that you may have already experienced multiple times.
There’s no denying that the Bioshock series is an ambitious one, and that it features some much loved/derided games. Bioshock Collection is the current definitive way to experience those games on consoles, but there’s little new for long-term fans beyond a bit of spit n’ polish.
If you've already played and loved the three original titles plus their DLC then some mild visual upgrades and a handful of extras might not be enough to justify the purchase. If, however, you've never sunk into the haunting depths of Rapture, this is the time to sort it out.
But it’s to Bioshock’s great credit that that’s its most glaring problem when played today (that, and the fact that ‘Arcadia Merlot’ wine actually says Cabernet Sauvignon on the label). To stretch that wine aside into an analogy, Bioshock really has aged like a fine Arcadia Merlot. It remains one of gaming’s great explorations of one of gaming’s greatest environments, even if you can see through Atlas’ bullshit like you can see Rapture’s glorious skyline (sealine?) through its oddly pristine glass corridors.
It's hard to think of a series that has done more for the optics of the industry. The Bioshock series is a true artistic achievement, and these games are glorious to behold on the Switch.
Virtuous has done a fine job in bringing Bioshock to the Switch, delivering a trio of intriguing games from the last generation. Performance is solid and stable, they look fantastic and they're still worth playing today.
If you're a newcomer to the Bioshock franchise or simply want to replay them on a more convenient platform, this collection is an excellent proposition. All three games look and run stupendously well on Nintendo's console, and the sheer amount of content on offer here makes the asking price much easier to swallow.
Don’t pass up the opportunity to play them.
BioShock: The Collection stands as yet another fantastic port in the Switch's ever-growing library, combining three excellent games and all their DLC into one convincing package. Stable performance, engrossing narratives, fun gameplay, and lots of content make this one an easy recommendation, even if these releases show their age from time to time. If you're looking for a good single-player shooter to pick up for your Switch, look no further than BioShock: The Collection. We'd give this one a high recommendation, it's tough to go wrong here.
Bioshock The Collection on Switch is everything the home console versions brought us four years ago, but with a oh-so practical portable dimension, but also poorer graphics, thanks to a strong aliasing, and a frame-rate which cannot exceed 30 fps. But with three classical FPS games which already made history, the added DLC and many bonus gives us a good reason to dive again, on the go.

All in all, BioShock: The Collection is an incredible package deal. It encompasses three high-quality games that, despite each having a handful of issues, are all incredible examples of what the FPS genre can accomplish. Incredible, engaging stories, chock full of jaw-dropping reveals, imaginative worlds and scenery, and larger-than-life, while still all too real, characters.
At a reduced price, Blind Squirrel offers a complete edition of the Bioshock trilogy, with all additional content released so far: the offer is attractive for old and new fans, enriched with many graphical improvements: finally Rapture can be explored at 60 frames per second on consoles too.

Whether you’re new to the series, or a returning veteran, there is almost no excuse to not pick up BioShock: The Collection. It contains some of the very best games ever made in the past decade, and they’re all still well worth playing today.
