Owlboy Reviews
Owlboy packs a fantastic amount of retro charm and genuine heart, with wonderful and creative gameplay to back it up. This long-awaited indie darling may be one of the year's best.
There’s very little to actively dislike about Owlboy.
All told, Owlboy is a delightful game full to bursting with character. Otus' bittersweet tale is engrossing, the supporting cast is consistently charming, and there's an admirable level of polish across the board. From its stunning visuals and soundtrack to its fun, responsive gameplay, Owlboy is rock solid from top to bottom. It took them 10 years, but D-Pad Studio has created one of the best 2D adventure titles in recent memory.
The warm atmosphere of the fairy tale, reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki's movies and Team ICO's games, great gameplay in the best traditions of classics from Nintendo and a stunning soundtrack make Owlboy one of the most interesting independent projects in the gaming industry of recent years.

Perfect for fans of classic platformers, the visuals, story, and gameplay come together in a way that makes Owlboy an unforgettable experience.
Owlboy was an incredible experience in every sense. Visually and audibly, it was a masterpiece. The characters were lovable, especially the protagonist, Otus. The story was compelling, and each new chapter gave something new and challenging to the players. D-Pad Studio clearly put a lot of love into this game and it paid off immensely.
Owlboy may have a few annoying navigational hangups, but none are enough to counter the overwhelming magic of the adventure at hand. Beautiful in both a visual and aural sense, littered with lovely characters, and home to a number of jawdropping combat encounters, Owlboy is a game almost ten years in the making that doesn’t show a trace of development hell. D-Pad made a game to be proud of, and it’s one I have no problem recommending.
Owlboy was already worth playing and now even more people can enjoy it. They also fixed the icon that was seemingly a mistake prior to release for the people who pre-ordered and preloaded it.
Owlboy's touching story is brought to life through beautiful art and an unforgettable soundtrack.
Dungeons are fun and well-designed, and the story will keep you moving at a steady pace
A superbly crafted 2D adventure that is a near perfect blend of new and old influences, in terms of both gameplay and the stunning visuals and music.

D-Pad Studio's Owlboy is everything you love about the indie game industry: a pixel-art visual masterpiece that is supported by a solid story, gameplay and amazing soundtrack. It's available on Nintendo Switch and PC, and you should definitely get it, with no regrets.
One of the greatest indie game of the last few years has arrived to consoles. A great Metroidvania with awesome art and pretty good game mechanics. A very intense story with all types of incredible moments.

Owlboy shines thanks to surprisingly varied, Metroidvania-style gameplay and a charming cast of unlikely heroes whose bittersweet journey is among the best I’ve experienced in recent years. Its remarkably detailed pixel art makes every scene more breathtaking than the last, but it’s the relationships between characters in both story and gameplay that makes Owlboy something truly special.
Owlboy is everything you’d traditionally expect of 2D puzzle-platformer and beyond.
When it all comes down to it, Owlboy is a phenomenal game filled so much heart and charm that it’s amazing how D-Pad Studio managed to deliver so much for a game that was in development for almost a decade.
Although the game has been under construction for nine years, the quality of the final product shows that the creators have spent all their effort and obsession to create a memorable game during this time, and the result is a work whose impact remains in the gamer's mind for a long time.

Characters within the story are vastly different from each other and feel like they have there own motivations, personalities, and goals. Nothing is 2 dimensional in this 2D world. And it’s really refreshing to experience a game like this. I would go so far as to say it could be a teaching aid for people developing games and stories in the future.
