Destroy All Humans! (2020 Remake) Reviews
In some ways, Destroy All Humans! shows its age, being a remake of a game that's now 15 years old, in a genre that's grown a lot in those years. But it's also got a sense of humour and parody of American life that feels more relevant today than when the original game first came out.
If you can put all of that aside or appreciate Destroy All Humans! in a state that is undoubtedly close to how it played back in the day, there is a lot of fun to be in the PS4 remake.
If you have not played the original Destroy All Humans, and the mindless destruction of the human race is appealing to you, the 2020 remaster is a must-play. While some of the gameplay fundamentals show their age, the fantastic dialogue and voice-over work, especially with Crypto and Orthopox, is entertaining, funny, and top-quality throughout.
Overall, then, Destroy All Humans! isn’t going to wow you. It will make you chuckle, however, and frequently put a smile on your face. It’s not overly polished, nor is it complex, but it is fun.
Destroy All Humans is a fantastic, faithful experience. Both older fans and new fans will find a lot of enjoyment here and hopefully we will see a lot more of Crypto's antics going into the new generation.
If you played Destroy All Humans! when it originally released and have some nostalgia for it then this might be worth playing but for the rest of us, this is a game that should have stayed locked away in Area 51.

Destroy All Humans! finds itself in a peculiar position on the spectrum of video game releases. A remake of a game from nearly three generations ago, it delivers exactly what it promises: an improved but faithful version of the original. The problem arises when you realize that this re-release is sometimes much more faithful than it should be.

Destroy All Humans! is a semi-open world game set in a fictional 1959 where Cryptosporidium 137 (or Crypto for short) is sent to Earth by his leader, Orthopox 13. His task is to find out what happened to his predecessor Cryptosporidium 136, who disappeared in 1947 after he was sent to Earth for a similar mission. Orthopox 13 (a.k.a Pox) asks our grey little protagonist to harvest human brain stems to prevent his Furon species from going extinct. Why do you ask? Well, a long long time ago, after an encounter between humans and Furon warriors, the human DNA now contains particles of the Furon DNA. Unfortunately, a shadowy government organization called Majestic, and led by Silhouette stands in the way of Crypto’s mission.
GOOD - Crypto-137 is back and he’s just as pissed off at humanity as ever. The game is a blast to play, but this might be the worst looking version of the game available, especially when docked on the TV. It does look good in handheld though!
The biggest selling point for Destroy All Humans! on the Nintendo Switch is the ability to play the game on the go, and it is perfectly playable that way. In fact, I actually enjoyed playing it handheld more than I did docked. There wasn’t a very noticeable difference between the two outside of screen resolution. If you have not purchased the game on another system or the idea of playing it on the go is the most important thing to you, then I would say the game is worth checking out. With that said, I would not recommend anyone just looking to play the game purchase it on the Switch if they have the ability to play on another platform. Switch ports are always going to suffer from being a slight step down from their other console counterparts, and Destroy All Humans! is no different.
Destroy All Humans! is a modern looking remake of a game that is clearly from another time. The open level structure allows players to create chaos and play around. The story isn’t anything to write home about and is still stuck in 2005 but all things considered this is a decent remake of a game that didn’t set the world on fire over 15 years ago. Is it a must-play title? No, not in the slightest. Would you have a fun time playing this? Yes, for sure
After fifteen years it’s difficult to return to the market with the same ideas seen on PS2 and Xbox 360 but THQ Nordic and the guys from Black Forest Games have done a good job especially with regard to the graphics sector and the modernization of the title to bring it to today's standards. Unfortunately, however, the changes did not affect the structure of the game which suffers from the problems already known of the original versions, that is a basic repetition and a series of missions not too articulated with a limited variety. Overall Destroy All Humans! it’s an enjoyable title especially if you are looking for a light-hearted product that allows you to have fun without thinking too much about the details and a thick story.

Destroy All Humans! will surely offer you an immersive adventure. Although it suffers from long loading screens and requires some knowledge of his historical context, there are some qualities: the gameplay is good, we have several weapons and skills at our disposal and many missions and collectibles to complete and obtain.

The year is 2020 and yet the world is not at its peak; therefore, many individuals look to nostalgia to remind them of happier, better times. The current generation is one of remakes and remasters aplenty, and THQ Nordic is capitalizing on that. Not long after the release of their remake for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom (which was a flop), they follow with a remake for Destroy All Humans!.
We recommend the game for 7 points and we hope that we will see a remake of the second game, which was threefold in its content, you fought against ninjas and Kojira, and mainly supported the splitscreen game.

Long story short, Destroy All Humans! is a remaster that came five years too late, and even then, still comes up short in terms of delivery. But if you’re just back to rekindle an old flame on your current-gen console, slightly dated graphics and audio shouldn’t really deter you from destroying all humans!
This fantastic remake is a perfect occasion for new players to finally experience Crypto’s adventures on Earth. It is still as funny and playable as the original, but now with some stunning visuals (unless we are talking about the pedestrian models).
