Teslagrad is a unique game, cleverly telling a thought-provoking story without any dialogue or verbal narrative, supported by beautiful aesthetics. If the game had been trusted to tell its tale, supported by the clever electromagnetic puzzles, then it would have been a truly excellent game. Unfortunately, the frustrating platforming sections and incongruously punishing boss battles slightly mar the experience and hold Teslagrad back from true greatness.

In conclusion, Teslagrad is a very polished puzzler, which ramps up the difficulty almost mercilessly until the very end. The way the powers you obtain enable to you to backtrack and open up new areas is very well done, and with the challenge of the collectibles the game has a good lifespan. Make no mistake, this is a tough proposition, but it's a fair one and the feeling of satisfaction as you finally work out what you need to do to pass an obstacle is enormous. Charming storytelling and a stiff challenge marry up with a reasonable price to form an almost perfect package.

Teslagrad has potential. For a fledgling independent studio's first game, it shows promise. The art is beautiful, and the story compelling and novel in its conveyance, but the level design severely limits enjoyment. One can hope that Rain Games takes what it learned from feedback on its freshman effort and apply it to future games.

All in all, Teslagrad is a captivating game that showcases the journey of a boy who is seriously good at using magnetic and electrical weaponry. Even though it has a few minor hiccups here and there, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone needing to scratch that puzzle platformer itch, or just someone in need of a new game that has Nicola Tesla references.

The game’s hand-drawn visuals and unique mechanics make it a standout in the indie game scene, and the story and atmosphere will keep players engaged from beginning to end. Teslagrad is generally for gamers who enjoy puzzle-platformers, and specifically for those who appreciate the use of magnetism as a gameplay mechanic.

Teslagrad is a unique platforming adventure, with a hero who uses magnetic powers to solve some tricky puzzles. With beautiful graphics set in an eerie, industrial world, this is one game to consider over the holidays.

Teslagrad combines puzzles and platforming in a way that feels both familiar and new. The Wii U version is the first out of the gate on consoles, and thanks to off-TV play, will likely be the definitive version of it outside of the PC.

This would have been a grand release alongside the launch PS4 when there was a dearth of releases and could have come out anytime in the last 18 months for the PS Vita which has needed titles of its own.

Teslagrad is one of the most original and welcome titles to enter the Wii U's catalog. An awe-inspiring game with a plot that is certain to grab the players' attention due to its throwback storytelling techniques and its clear inspiration in the Metroidvania style will not disappoint those eager for a fresh and original title on Nintendo's system

If you've never played the game before but you like the sound of what it has to offer, we heartily recommend giving it a go and, to be completely truthful, we wouldn't be surprised to see players who already own the game wanting to 'double-dip' for a portable version, too.

Teslagrad is a suitable platforming outing, but I'm much more excited for what the developers have next in store with this experience under their belt.

Like one of the real Nikola Tesla's fantastic ideas, [Teslagrad] shines bright and strong, bringing its own unique spirit into an overly crowded industry. And making it through to the game's conclusion is well worth the wait.

If you're entirely new to this experience, I absolutely recommend Teslagrad as a great puzzle platformer. It arrived a bit before the genre became way too crowded, though the two years that have passed since then certainly haven't helped. What we have here is a well made 2D effort, and explorers who aren't tired of the genre will enjoy this one for its silent storytelling and magnetic puzzle mechanics.

Teslagrad is everything we love about download gaming on Wii U. From the flawless opening scene to the nostalgic music to the luscious hand-drawn artwork to the brain-bending puzzles, Rain Games has a certified hit on its hands. The extreme difficulty will be hard for some to swallow, but it never feels unfair; anyone who appreciates an old-school challenge will find something to enjoy here. If you've finally torn yourself away from SteamWorld Dig, Teslagrad is the worthy heir to the Scandinavian throne.

Teslagrad from Rain Games has at long last arrived on the Wii U. But was it worth the wait? Fortunately, the answer to that is a resounding yes. The game is positively brilliant and nails everything it sets out to do, from the unique visuals to the ambient music to the elegant gameplay.

The strong point of Teslagrad is the creative direction of their hand-crafted world. The art style is charmingly cartoonish and colours appear vibrant but dreary when it needs to be.

You'll need to refresh your 8-bit platformer skills to survive the tower in Teslagrad, but doing so is well-worth the effort.

Teslagrad is an excellent platform inspired by the classics of the metroidvania genre, with focus on exploration and puzzles. There are some minor shortcomings, such as some uninspired boss figths, but the title from Rain Games is still a worthy addition to the rich roster of indie games on Switch.

With stunning presentation, and a clever core mechanic, Teslagrad does a lot to impress. Unfortunately, its occasionally unwieldy controls, inconsistent difficulty, and needlessly challenging boss fights mar the experience. However, if you can look past these infidelities, you'll find an incredibly unique and often satisfying puzzle platformer.

Telsagrad is a complex puzzle platformer that is enjoyable and fun despite its painstakingly difficult challenges. However, the lack of a conventional story and dialogue left you wondering if you had missed out on an untapped experience.
