Bastion lands the Nintendo Switch to remind us, once again, why it's one of the most recognisable indie titles. But for the player who's already enjoyed the world of Kaolandia, that's nothing new. However, if you haven't yet embarked on the KID's mission to rebuild Bastion, this adaptation is highly recommended. The use of the Joy-Con's HD vibration, plus the ability to enjoy the game in desktop or portable mode, is a good incentive to go for the hybrid version.

It's a highly polished, bug-free bundle of fun and at $15, it's a steal. Kudos to Supergiant Games.
As long as you're not expecting a profoundly original artistic vision, Bastion delivers on its gameplay. Bastion's main strengths are twofold – the combat is satisfying and varied, and the customization options are robust. Our only major complaints are fairly nitpicky – it's easy to fall of ledges (especially if you're using the shotgun weapon, which causes significant kickback and often kicks thekid off the edge of the world), and when you find a new weapon you're forced to equip it until you can get to a nearby armory to swap it out, which can be particularly annoying if it de-equips your favorite weapon. These are small issues in the larger picture though, and Bastion is still overwhelmingly well-executed.
Bastion remains as strong of a game as it was in 2011, but there's no need to buy this version if you already own it.
Classic in its gameplay, Bastion cultivates its difference when it comes to evoking its narration... in real time. Thus, throughout this action/RPG all classic (but devilishly rich and effective), a voice will romanticize your actions. Your victories, like your defeats, every situation. Add to that a shimmering 2D progression and achievement, and you'll have the indized game of this summer 2011 in front of you. If you're looking for an action-RPG with a substantial story to fill the Diablo void in your life, then Bastion will be right up your alley. It plays well, has a striking aesthetic, and a unique story.
Bastion is an aesthetic dream, from the beautiful visuals that look like a painting come to life to the incredible soundtrack that breathes soul into that life. As a game, though, it could've been so much more. There's a great amount of replay value here, from the new game plus mode to the combat challenges, but that's only if the mechanics click with you enough to stick with it. Because of some frustrating controls and combat design decisions, Bastion is held back from being excellent, but remains great nonetheless.
Bastion presents you with enough charm and originality to override that bittersweet taste the story leaves in you, and it makes you forget about it with its awe-inspiring environments, an excellent use of the Narrator and an overall attention to detail that make it one of the best downloadable titles on the system.
Bastion even after 4 years is still an excellent title that everyone must know. Associations with Transistor - desirable.

Bastion is a steal at $14.99 and wonderful to play on the TV or in handheld mode. The fun factor is really high and there’s a lot of value here since it’s not an overly short title. If you missed out on the original release, now’s your chance to fix that oversight!
Bastion holds up remarkably well after all of these years, and in many ways, Bastion is a masterclass in game design.
Bastion is one of the strongest first efforts I’ve seen from an indie studio, easily standing out even amongst triple-A titles. While not perfect, this game has so many bright spots that it will definitely become an instant classic to whomever plays it. If you can tolerate the simplistic combat and linear gameplay, Bastion is definitely one to recommend for any fan looking for an intriguing story, noteworthy characters, and some of the best aesthetics and style around.
Bastion is able to hide a traditional gameplay, although properly developed, with visual and contour solutions of great impact but that, after a few hours of play, are no longer able to amaze, leaving the player at the mercy of situations too similar and slightly repetitive sections, which are fully pictured only in the final section, true return to respectable quality peaks. It is a title that stands halfway between the tastes of console players, more inclined to action, and the classic ones of PC users, always looking for titles with deep role-playing elements, representing a good experience for both, without however revolutionizing or scoring new goals.

The combat might never feel as clever as the visuals and narration but this is still an engrossing and distinctive action role-player.
Is the game worth playing? Certainly. It's a decent little adventure that will provide enough solid gameplay to be worth the money. Just make sure one expects no more than that, and it'll be a most worthy purchase. Bastion is fun enough for what it is, but it does not transcend to the levels that it would like you to believe it does.
What Bastion set out to do years ago still holds up well today, although the unique storytelling approach, in many ways, does more harm than good.
Bastion's dialogue talks vaguely about the world and the characters, giving off a strong sense of world building, but if you start to dig and think too hard about it, the lack of depth does begin to show. The gameplay is charming and colourful but the mechanics themselves begin to feel a bit like a chore in their implementation.
Rarely does artistic excellence and mechanical brilliance come together in as amazing an experience as Supergiant's Bastion.
Supergiant first game finally arrives to Nintendo Switch. Even if you already played it in different platforms, Bastion keeps its charm thanks to a beautiful art direction, powerful music and voice acting.
