SteamWorld Dig 2 Reviews
Image & Form have continued to impress with their output on Nintendo's newest toy as of late, however, it's nice to see the developer hasn't forgotten its handheld roots either. SteamWorld Dig 2 on 3DS is a great version of the excellent sequel making it an ideal alternative for those that have yet to take the plunge on a Nintendo Switch.
SteamWorld Dig 2 takes the blueprint of the first game and injects more adrenaline. It plays as beautiful as it looks. This game can cause an addiction. It's definitely highly regarded for multiple reasons. A fresh take on metroidvania with smart platforming and puzzles into the mix. Just moving around doing what you need to evolves into its own reward. Just buy it.
I can dig it!
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a great metroidvania with rewarding gameplay and deep progression.

SteamWorld Dig 2 follows mightly the playbook of a successful sequel. It keeps the mechanics that made the first game stand out and grows in scope and improves the quality of its gameplay and level design. It was that kind of game where once I finished I came back immediately to this charming world because of its addictive loop and insanely fun gameplay. Add one more to the hall of amazing games of 2017

SteamWorld Dig 2 is a beautiful and charming game with a satisfying mixture of exploration, puzzles, and mildly challenging platforming. The more treasure you collect, the more abilities you unlock, which in turn, lets you collect even more treasure. It's a simple yet addictive loop that pushed me forward until I beat the final boss. Unfortunately, the lack of a compelling endgame meant I didn't have much motivation to continue past the ten-hour mark.
SteamWorld Dig 2 improves upon its predecessor in every way imaginable, crafting an engaging journey that keeps you playing until the end. Dig 2 proves to be the definitive mining/adventure title, and we can't wait to see where the franchise goes next.
The fans of the first game may be miffed at some design choices, but the overall design makes all nitpicks easy to overlook for an enjoyable grind.
If you hate fun you probably won't like Steamworld Dig 2.
To get experience, the developers at Image&Form managed to take the standard mechanics of the genre metroidvania to multiply them several times, SteamWorld Dig 2 was exactly the sequel that they deserved, despite the overall similarity with their projects, developers, with each new game in steampunk style, manages to create a fascinating and unknown world, which I would like to explore far and wide, intriguing plot and incredibly charismatic characters.

Steamworld Dig 2 is a top-notch game that so succeeds at what it set out to do, that calling it merely "retro-inspired" almost feels like an insult. It's a fantastic 2D title, and belongs in anyone's collection.
And, after the credits roll once you reach the cataclysmic conclusion to SteamWorld Dig 2 it is worth taking a moment to look back at the map. Where SteamWorld Dig had really only let the player dig downwards, the network of makeshift tunnels that you carve out in the sequel are a reflection of the personal journey that you have taken. And that freedom, above all else, can be seen as the game’s greatest success.
A great sequel to a great game. SteamWorld Dig 2 takes what made the original fun and expands on it, adding several new features to keep the experience fresh.
SteamWorld Dig 2 has absolutely fantastic gameplay that builds on well onto the already strong gameplay of the original. Unless you dislike platformers, you should put this game onto your radar.
Saying any game is one of the finest of the year 2017 is a big call, but it isn’t out of place here. It comfortably stands with 2017’s elite and in the realm of the $20 – $30 indie title it is fair to say Steamworld Dig reigns supreme.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a fantastic game that demonstrates the full potential of the seeds the original had planted. At every phase it is clear that the team behind it has grown in terms of both concepts and skill in implementation. For me playing it and writing this review has also made me reflect on the amazing rate that the indie development scene has matured and turned into the collective juggernaut we are seeing today. Not only are we seeing good games at lower prices, we are often seeing AAA quality and ambition as well. This excites me greatly and I’m looking forward to seeing what these team members, as well as their ambitious contemporaries, have in store for us next!
Whether you're a fan or not, you'll probably dig a lot SteamWorld Dig 2 (all puns intended). Full of challenges and hidden treasures to find, there's a lot more to do than the first game, which will last you for a decent 20 hours or more.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is an excellent game that provides a beautiful world filled with charming characters.
Steamworld Dig 2 is developer Image & Form’s crowning achievement. It’s an innovative, finely-tuned, idiosyncratic game that ranks among the most ingenious indie titles of the year.
