Forza Horizon 2 is a fantastic racing game, probably the best released so far in this short-lived generation of consoles. Xbox One owners should definitely check it out. The amount of content is impressive, but even more impressive is that most of it is really fun to play. Horizon 2 starts off a laundry list of exclusive titles for MS, we can only hope the rest are as excellent as Playground's latest racer.

Forza Horizon 2 picks up where the first game finished, and improves on just about every area. The FM5 engine produces some absolutely stunning graphics, which is matched in equal parts by the audio and sounds of the cars. The world is as open as it can be and leaves the players to drive and race wherever they want. Add to this all of the single-player events, multiplayer races, co-op events, road trips, and car clubs, and this is a mammoth package of pure petrolhead pleasure. The festival atmosphere is felt throughout the game. It is fun from start to finish. Due to its diversity and replayability, it's hard to say what more you could want from such a title. In short, following in the tire treads of its predecessor, this could well be the racing game of 2014.

Horizon 2 is a wheel that has not so much been reinvented as polished to perfection. Whilst comparable to other open-world racers such as Burnout Paradise and Test Drive Unlimited, it takes the genre to a new level.

Forza Horizon 2 enriches the game formula of its predecessor with a structure able to mix very well offline and online elements, old and unpublished, confirming once again as one of the most balanced cross between arcade racing and simulation.

Importing the graphics and physics engines of the Forza saga into an open-world arcade racing game was an idea already well exploited in the first installment, but this return to Xbox One with Forza Horizon 2 definitely drives home the point with a next- achievement.

Forza Horizon 2 took the lead in the race for the title of the best car game of the year. Will DriveClub, Project Cars and The Crew be able to catch up with Microsoft's exclusive?

Forza Horizon 2 is just a better game than pretty much every open world driving game before it. I mean it. It may not revolutionize the formula in brand new and interesting ways, but it understands what it's trying to be. It understands what all open world racing games should strive to be. If you are a racing fan, you should definitely try this one out.

There's an exhausting number of features that have been implemented into Forza Horizon 2. The open world isn't just an empty free roam field to drive through; there's so much stuff packed in that it's a little daunting.

It's a tough game to criticise. The setting is perhaps not quite as striking as the original game's clay-coated Colorado, but that could be as much to do with the familiarity of the European landscapes for a European reviewer as it is the actual layout of the roads. Perhaps the offline mode could have a little more structure to keep you locked in to its most thrilling events, but that would damage the freeform amiability of everything. It's just a very special racing game. There's a depth of content here that matches the game's undoubted class, and ensures Playground Games is a genuine powerhouse in the world of digital racing. Forza Horizon 2 is a gorgeous, confident and relentlessly gratifying drive, and easily the best first-party exclusive on Xbox One.

Forza Horizon 2 is just the first of many racing games to release this Holiday season, and it sure started it off with a huge bang. It's gorgeous, it's huge, it's exciting and most of all, it's just downright fun. It certainly deserves a standing ovation.

Forza Horizon 2 is a spectacular achievement for Playground Games, and a game that makes you feel like part of a community, even when you're not playing with anyone; a game that captures the joy of driving, and more importantly, sharing that joy with others. It feels like the kind of game Microsoft has been trying to make for years, one that finds success in its mechanics, but is defined by its community, one less a collection of random players, and more a club of enthusiasts.
