Aragami and its expansion are very strict in adhering to the stealth approach and it's what I enjoyed most about the game. Some may find this mechanic off-putting and feel dated that you can't blast your way out of a tricky situation but in doing so, it truly makes you feel like an assassin where one mistake will lead to failure. It's an absolute must for anyone that enjoys the classic stealth genre. It's a very smartly designed game in both its level design and mechanics and has a story while not ground-breaking it kept me well-captivated. It's unfortunate that the game does lack the polish in its technical performance but ultimately Aragami succeeds in creating the Tenchu-like game I've been craving but in its own unique and gorgeous style.

In general Aragami looks like well thought out title, but lacking a bit of polish. In this case I think that artsy aspects of the game took a toll on it's gameplay mechanics. I'd prefer it to be more like 3D Mark of the Ninja, but well...

Aragami is a fun, unique, stealth based action game that pays tribute to how stealth games used to be, it's tricky, challenging and rewarding with graphics and presentation that impress for a small development team. Aragami has its annoyances, but beyond those there's a thoroughly enjoyable stealth system which will reward the patient.

Priced at £19.99 for the Shadow Edition, the package offers great value. The Nightfall expansion adds an enjoyable extension of gameplay from the base game, and is a great addition when bundled. Purchased separately however the deal isn't quite as sweet. Fans of the genre will find a lot to like here, Aragami's gameplay is a lot of fun. There are a few issues here and there, but the replayability, fantastic online co-op and multiple different ways to approach the game, make it a worthwhile addition to your library.

Overall, Aragami: Shadow Edition delivers what it sets out to. An immensely good stealth-based adventure. While the rest of the game isn’t anything spectacular, stealth fans looking for a challenge will find one with this game. If you’re unfamiliar with the genre, or aren’t too keen to it normally, the story and game play won’t be enough to make it worth it, and the art and music won’t be enough to keep you invested. And the price won’t help justify it for many either.

Despite only using the basic stealth principles, Aragami is a quite enjoyable experience. Nothing special, but fans of the stealth genre should be pleased.

Taken as a whole, Aragami: Shadow Edition does the sneak ‘n’ stab genre well enough to tickle the taste buds of its fans. Others not quite as invested will probably only get a moderate amount of enjoyment with little satisfaction in gameplay outside of some nice ideas and the relief of accomplishment.

Aragami: Shadow Edition is a good stealth-based assassin adventure that plays more like an arcade game, as opposed to a gritty, realistic experience.

Aragami: Shadow Edition is an extremely pleasant and rewarding experience that, in addition to rekindling the flame of the stealth genre, honors several of its greatest titles. Its mechanics and plot are extremely well done and each new visit to some particular stage can offer dozens of new possibilities. This experience, which can be in single-player or co-op, deserves to be played by all.

The game has its own limitations and weaknesses like limited A.I and it doesn't feel very tight. however, the gameplay experience can be quite addictive once you submit to its rhythm. the storytelling is also very well done and carefully structured. the technical performance for this version is not perfect though.
