A ruthlessly realistic simulation which not only has no interest in being a video game but also seems intent on making fishing seem as drab and mechanical as possible.

Fishing Sim World clearly has a number of issues, the most glaring being the developers at Dovetail forgot to make it fun.

Despite the unimpressive graphics, Fishing Sim World is definitely a game you should get if you like simulators and want to see what a simulated fishing experience is like. Personally it's not really my thing, but I can definitely see people who do like these types of games getting... hooked on it.

Clearly, this is not a sports title for everyone, just like its real-life counterpart, but Dovetail Games have made a solid and enjoyable simulation of angling, and if you're a fan of the sport that can't get out to the water as often as you'd like, then Fishing Sim World makes for a fine replacement.

A wholly unenjoyable experience, completely devoid of any fun and intrigue. Fishing Sim World couples that gameplay experience with ugly character models and environments, leading to a game that quite literally has nothing going for it.

If you like fishing in reality – and are also open-minded to digital pursuits – there's a very good chance you'll be delighted by the detail Fishing Sim World delivers. There's enough reel, bait, line and rod types to keep you busy exploring your hobby for hours, and plenty of reasons to use the gamut of hardware available. If you sit in that audience you'll likely find that Dovetail's creation suits numerous shorter play sessions over many weeks. And throughout, you'll be delighted by all the fishing authenticity.

Fishing Sim World will probably satisfy fishermen who want to indulge in their favorite leisure on consoles or PCs. The presence of reproduced material faithfully, inspired by the real world will provide. but all the others will pass their way in front of the lack of efforts to democratize this sport and to propose it to the greatest number. According to Dovetail, the success of the previous edition (not released on consoles) has been consistent in the US. This one will undoubtedly also remain on the overseas.

Fishing Sim World is a relaxing addition to the simulator game genre. It has beautiful visuals and some great options to adjust the time of day and weather for a more customized experience. The boat's extremely low speed made me not want to head out into the water very far, so hopefully that is looked into. The game isn't exciting, but might be a good fit for fishing fans.

Overall if you are looking for more in-depth fishing, then you might need to look elsewhere. Dovetails Games' Fishing Sim World came up short in creating that tense reeling experience, but it scores points with its variety of maps and beautifully rendered locales. The predefined equipment makes it easy for new players to start fishing without learning any of the smaller details that fishing entails at a more advanced level. There is an online multiplayer mode, letting you fish freely in a relaxing setting or set a goal, such as seeing who can land the biggest catch.

Fishing Sim World will have its audience, but it is certainly a niche genre.

In all honestly, while Fishing Sim World hasn't got me hooked for the long term, I can see myself biting and going back for more from time to time.

I wish I could get my parents to play this game and I still may when they visit down the line. I'm very curious about there feedback on the title as people who fish regularly. This feels like a good fishing sim game, which for those looking for it you get it. If your looking for a more interactive arcade feel this probably isn't the best game for you as there can be big downtime as you wait for fish to take your bait.

Fishing Sim World is one for the fishing enthusiasts with the time and patience to invest in learning the game’s core set of controls for catching fish. Play the long learning game and you’ll be pulling fish after fish out the water, but if you struggle to get past this barrier you’ll be throwing your rod into the lake and heading home for the day.

To conclude personally I enjoyed the game, although not so much the competitive side, I can see myself returning for a relaxing fish on a rainy afternoon I feel Fishing Sim World: Pro Tour deserves the Thumb Culture Silver Award!

Fishing Sim World is a great successor to Euro Fishing which fans of the former will really enjoy playing. Even as someone who isn’t really too keen on fishing in terms of a realistic simulation game, I still found enjoyment within the game and wanted to go back for more in order to get better and actually catch some bigger fish. However, if you have played Euro Fishing and enjoyed what it had to offer then expect more gear, new locations, much bigger environments, more intense challenges, and it even lets you ride a boat! Sure, there are some graphical anomalies with the physics and the ability to walk through things like you’re a ghost, but the core aspect, the fishing, is rock solid once you get to grips with it.

No one can say that Fishing Sim World isn’t incredibly realistic. Unfortunately, this stalwart dedication to realism, alongside an abundance of bugs, makes the game a frustratingly slow slog that just inspires me to do some real fishing instead.
