Persona 4 Golden is slowly starting to show its age in the gameplay department, but that doesn't detract it from being one of the best RPG experiences you'll find.

By building a fantastic story filled with a deep cast of characters Persona 4 Golden manages to truly invite you into its world. While at times peaks and troughs in gameplay can be jarring the complete package is one any JRPG fan should turn their hand to.

Overall, Persona 4 Golden is the Persona title I would recommend the most. It has an engaging story, great character development, and an amazing soundtrack. Truth be told, I do like Persona 3 more, but Persona 4 Golden fixes every flaw Persona 3 had. If you play just one Persona game, make it P4G.

I understand that Persona 4 Golden has a special place in the hearts of those who played it and want to revisit the classic, and that it's still a great choice for those who have never played it, but an addition to the story, new Personas or even a more elaborate work with graphics could've brought this still excelent RPG to a new high in 2023.

Again, it’s important to understand that this isn’t a criticism of The Last Of Us. The game achieves what it sets out to achieve, admirably. However, as someone that enjoys poetry, philosophy, and layered meanings within texts that look beyond the literal story, I personally look to something like Persona 4 Golden. This is my kind of narrative and experience, and indeed, Persona 4 Golden is one of the best we’ve ever seen in this approach to storytelling. It’s a true masterpiece, and now it’s on your Nintendo Switch.

Those coming from Persona 5 will likely find many of the systems they're familiar with are present but in a much clunkier fashion. The bland dungeons and sudden difficulty spikes might also turn off new players, but if they can push through those they may find a thrilling murder mystery featuring some of my favorite narrative moments in the Persona series. Add this to an extremely likeable cast of characters like Kanji Tatsumi or Yukiko Amagi, as well as one of the most catchy soundtracks to ever be put into a video game, and you may well find yourself falling in love with Inaba. Despite all of its flaws, you might find that in the end you're actually sad to leave.

Persona 4: Golden is probably the ideal place to start your Persona experience if you haven't yet. It's probably the most consistent of the three games, and it nails the atmosphere, characterization and tone while keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting enough. It fun even if you are coming directly from Persona 3 Portable. If you have the current PC release, not a ton has changed with the latest patch, and you might consider whether you want to start this all over again. If you're looking for an excuse to pick it up, there's no better time.

If it is the first time you get to live through the magical world of Persona, Persona 4, with its excellent story, loveable characters, enjoyable music, and great combat, can make for a unique experience

Persona 4 Golden is genuine, bona fide work of art, and one of those games that show the potential for the video game format to offer more than cheap thrills. It's one of those games that you get the feeling will be remembered as a masterpiece well into the future too. With most AAA blockbusters falling out of the public discourse just a few months after release because they offer nothing but passive entertainment, it's games like Persona 4 that we continue to discuss. Even in comparison to its own sequel, it seems to have the combination of characters, narrative, and ideas that help it to continue to be worthy of thought. We'll still be talking about Persona 4 fifty years from now, and hopefully, it remains as accessible as this new PC release has allowed it to become.

Twelve years later, and the dreary little world of Persona 4 Golden is as captivating as it's ever been. Having it on Steam is a wonderful boon to its accessibility, given the limited range the Vita and PSTV had, and this port more than does it justice. The elements unique to the expanded rerelease may not add much to the experience, but there's no doubt that this should be on everyone's list of must-play RPGs.

Persona 4 Golden continues to be one of the greatest and well loved JRPGs almost 15 years since it’s original release and is now available on more platforms than ever. The Golden version of the game is by far the definitive version to play and you’ll have plenty of hours ahead of you to get lost in with an incredible cast of characters as you try to get to the bottom of an engaging murder mystery. The Persona series is consistently good, they’ve nailed what makes JRPG games so fun to play, and if you only have the ability to play one of the newly released 2023 remasters coming out this week, Persona 4 Golden is my recommendation for which one to pick up.

Despite some elements of "Persona 4 Golden's" narrative at points being out dated and wildly bigoted, it is still a classic that is absolutely worth playing.

Despite being essentially the same game that was first released over a decade ago, Persona 4 Golden manages to avoid feeling dated to this day. A great cast of characters, an intriguing murder mystery story, and satisfying storytelling that moves at an unhurried pace are all completed by fun combat mechanics to preserve the game’s high standard.

Persona 4 Golden is akin to observing an artist’s work that serves as a bridge between their early work and their magnum opus. It was a stepping stone between the earlier games and what would become Persona 5. At the same time, it’s a time capsule that perfectly captures the culture and lifestyle of the 2000’s.

Outstanding game, although in this PC version a patch is needed to polish some problems. Outstanding story and amazing gameplay. The Persona saga does not disappoint.

More than 10 years after its original release, Persona 4 Golden is finally available for modern consoles. Its qualities include an engaging investigation story, fun characters, several interesting side quests and challenging battles. Certainly, the ideal would be for it to present improvements over the original, but still, what we have available is worthy of the best JRPGs and a must-have in your library.

Persona 4 Golden is an important and precious exponent of the history of Japanese RPGs and is finally available for Nintendo Switch in a big way. If you like the genre, or simply a good story, clever mechanics and a huge amount of content, don't waste time adding this classic to your hybrid console library.
