Mr. Driller Drill Land is the best game in the series and one of my favourite Switch games in recent memory. If you enjoy action-packed arcade fun with plenty of cheerful humour, you'll thoroughly dig this.

Having Mr. DRILLER DrillLand back and available to a wide range of players is something to behold as it is a cute, fun, colorful and upbeat game that is a treat for puzzle fans. Like every amusement park, our intention is always to come back to play a little more. Historically, it also rescues the legacy of Namco (now Bandai Namco), a company that has made industry history with titles that have always focused on delivering the core of an electronic game: challenge and fun.

If you like Dig Dug, some older Mr. Driller or even Tetris, it's worth giving DrillLand a try. You can expect a game in which there is much to be done, with addictive gameplay, a great soundtrack and a first-rate setting.

It's easy to understand why Mr. Driller DrillLand was so beloved. The mini-games are fun, the core concept is a blast and it works amazingly well as a pickup and play the game. Adding an easier mode, so you don't need to stress as much about difficulty was a welcome addition, plus there is just so much to do. Sure, some of the games are slight tweaks and it takes a lot of practice to be good, at least this is an experience that is worth putting in the time and seeing where that takes you.

Despite being a port of a 2002 GameCube game, Mr. Driller DrillLand feels, looks, and hangs with games as they are today. There are tons of depth to the core game, but add a ton of built-in variants that really change your approach and you've got an exemplary entry. The new difficulty setting is a great touch, too.

Mr. Driller is one of those elite few puzzle games that, like Tetris, remain immensely playable no matter what year it is. The GameCube edition was one of the finest examples of this and, a full 18 years later, it hasn't aged a single day. Given that you can easily enjoy it in 10-minute bursts or epic three-hour sessions, there are fewer games better suited to the Switch. A must-have for puzzle fans.

It’s fantastic that we’re now getting to play this game on even more platforms, which similarly to some of the games I have recently reviewed, can fetch outrageous prices online. Now they’re readily available and fairly priced, and in all cases they’re very much worth getting. Mr Driller Drill Land is ever so charming and a blast to play rather you’re by your lonesome or with a buddy or three.

An overdue but much appreciated remaster of one of the GameCube's - and the early 00s - very best.
