It may be a familiar cocktail, but the game remixes things well enough that it ends up with a distinctive taste, though your appreciation of the experience will largely depend on what you think of the finale.

Setting themselves aside from other horror developers, Supermassive has delivered a nail-biting romp through a ghost town brought to terrifying life through excellent environment design and lighting. While it suffers from a poor conclusion, the rest of the Little Hope experience is one to be savoured over several playthroughs, or all done in a single night with friends. Either way, this is not an experience to be missed, especially with spooky season just around the corner.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is atmospheric, intriguing, and mysterious. It's not exactly scary, however.

The Dark Pictures so far has been all about popcorn-horror, the kind where the viewer screams and jumps before remembering that everything’s all right after. They’re not elegant, but they’re not trying to be - and that’s perfectly acceptable, especially if it’s what the player knows what they’re getting into.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope has really improved compared to the last installment in the series, but it becomes repetitive so soon. The technical issues in Man of Medan don't exist in Little Hope and it makes QTE sequences much more enjoyable. The graphics are so great and the story itself is engaging. I think despite of its problems, Little Hope is one of the best horror titles of this year that any horror fan should try.

Little Hope is a fantastic horror experience that really shows what Supermassive can do with the Dark Pictures series. Though it's a short experience and it exhibited a crash during review, it's a fantastically crafted thrilling drama with amazing characters who are genuinely fun to interact with. If this kind of game is something that seems interesting, don't pass up on this experience!

While there’s still room for improvement; less jump scares, more suspenseful scenarios, Little Hope has outdone its predecessor ten-fold. This is the perfect addition to a horror aficionado’s collection, and a must have for Halloween this year.

Overall, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope on Xbox One X is a fantastic improvement on Man of Medan, although it still falls somewhat short of the utterly amazing Until Dawn.

Little Hope managed to actually give me some hope for this series after Man of Medan ultimately failed to deliver anything other than a lacklustre experience.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is a worthy successor to Man of Medan and a strong continuation of The Dark Pictures Anthology.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope maintains the strengths and weaknesses of its predecessor, not daring to go much further. The new adjustments, such as the presence of alerts in the QTEs, the practically impeccable translation into Portuguese and the use of familar themes of witches and occult are interesting, but small. Despite this modest claim, the title fulfills its purpose and is an excellent horror game that represents the genre well, with a plot that offers good doses of tension and mystery to explore.

Overall, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is far closer to Until Dawn than Man of Medan was. It is a horror movie wrapped in a video game shell that makes for a thrilling, tense, and frightening experience whether you are playing solo or with a good friend.

The Dark Pictures Anthology continues to hold much potential, but Little Hope's shortcomings show that Supermassive Games hasn't nailed their special formula just yet.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is a noticeable improvement as it spins a mysteriously horrifying tale that still ends up lacking in some areas.

You did your best, and now it’s time to see what else you can do. Make the worst decisions possible to condemn everyone to an eternity in Little Hope, try and game the system so only your favorites live, or go for a perfect score to see your protagonists peak. Little Hope offers what feels like a dizzying number of choices and storylines, and the brief nature of the game frees you up to pursue those grim and gratifying outcomes as often as you’d like.

I love horror stories, and I love anthologies so I’m not surprised I’m a big fan of the Dark Pictures Anthology. Little Hope is another solid entry that at it’s core is all about player choice. SuperMassive seem to have big plans for the future of the series, which they’ve been public about, and even with the small tease of the next entry coming in 2021, I’m certainly excited to see how the series continues to grow and where the Curator will take us next.

In terms of plot, it's clearly superior to Man of Medan. Little Hope keeps the Supermassive style, but adds a risky twist that you may love... Or hate.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope offers proven scary food, as you are used to from Supermassive Games. Alone or with friends, you have the opportunity to influence the course of history and become master of life and death of your protégés. All in all, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is good material for a scary evening with a thrilling story, which also has a very unexpected twist at the end.

The latest Dark Pictures Anthology installment takes narrative risks and refines mechanical gameplay. While I still take issue with photorealistic graphics, Little Hope is still worth visiting.
