Shin Megami Tensei is a memorable sign of what the series represents. Atlus has done a great job when it comes to updating the title to the current dynamics of video games. Still it is to be noted that there are significant points that should have been improved. Mainly with regard to videos and soundtrack, which could provide a significantly improved experience. Nevertheless, it is the best version of the game and the easiest way for current players to experience the series and learn about the origins of the mechanics, designs and themes of its Spinoffs.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne aged quiet well and despite the weak effort put into the remaster, gamers that are looking for atmospheric and difficult titles should still pay their attention to it.

Altough this remastered version of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne is a bit weak in terms of new additions, it's still one of the best in the genre. In my opinion, SMT3 is one of the most well balanced JRPGs in terms of mix of gameplay and story elements. It also offers a great challenge which makes it a bit tough for newcomers, but purists will simply love it.

You'll definitely have fun with Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster if you're a fan of JRPGs and don't mind dark subject matter. The dungeon-crawling and battle system provide a solid level of challenge and the gameplay stays interesting throughout. However, the lack of visual detail and poor music quality will constantly remind you that you're merely playing a remaster of a PS2 game.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster is the return of one of the most interesting jRPG productions ever available on PlayStation 2. A good proposition for veterans, but also new players will find their place here. For fans of the genre, the proposition is mandatory. However, some things are missing.

SMT3 Nocturne HD Remaster realises that the less time we can spend with the cobwebs of the past by opting into the new Merciful difficulty, the more time we can enjoy this world and its story anew.

If you can adapt to its ruthless approach, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is a retro JRPG that’s worth revisiting. However, the remastering doesn’t go far enough, leaving PS2 quirks intact.

When you set aside the little performance issues on Nintendo Switch and the lack of some quality-of-life additions, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is still an excellent dungeon crawler with tons of demons to experiment with and several different endings for hardcore players to find. The game feels like it's dragging on sometimes by so heavily emphasizing gameplay over story, but when the gameplay is this solid and with the world renewed in HD, it's not much of a complaint. This is quite the appetizer from Atlus as the wait for Shin Megami Tensei V continues.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is less about being a satisfactory remaster and more about just bringing this fantastic JRPG onto a new generation of consoles.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster remains a singular JRPG with very good qualities, such as an effective combat system and a real choice left to the player during the game. But you have to know what you're getting into: a difficult game, one that doesn't forgive error and seems to remain in its 2000s. We would have liked this remaster to be a little bolder in terms of technique and above all ergonomic. It may again divide, but we believe that there is still a piece of choice in this JRPG collection.

An RPG classic makes its way back to the front lines. Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster has all the bells and whistles that came with the original fan favorite title. The minimal additions that come with this remaster do little to help or hurt the formula. Merciless difficulty drops the challenge too much to capture the game's magic, visuals only offer slight clean-up, and audio is still the same PS2 audio. While the game deserves better enhancements, getting Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne in a more contemporary accessible form is still worth the price of admission.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster may still have some rough edges for a remaster but a number of improvements as well as combat and recruitment systems that hold up strong help this classic JRPG remain just as worthwhile today as it was in 2004.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne is a perfect example of the elaborate gameplay that defies the passage of time. Although the original game was released in 2003, the gameplay is still wonderful and addictive. In addition, the variety of stages and the difference in how to finish them, with enemies and bosses designed differently for each stage, Each enemy has its own behavior and the way to eliminate it is different. They are not a tool to receive damage, but an enemy that makes you think about all your steps. I wish Atlus paid more attention to the remaster, as there is no change to the cinematic scenes despite their small numbers, and using the music of the PlayStation 2 version even though there is a pure version on the Youtube platform is a shame. Despite that, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne is a unique and wonderful experience that is different from the rest of the JRPGs that fans of this genre should try.

Despite a few bumpy features and frustrations, Nocturne is a game that still plays great almost twenty years later. With the addition of voice acting, remastered graphics, and its quality of life changes, it cements itself as a JRPG experience that is still worthwhile even if battles can sometimes be difficult and repetitive.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is a good set-up for a game that was already good in its time but never reached a particularly wide audience. With HD graphics, and a good translation, he hopes to expand the Megaten market, but remember that this is not a remake, it is a remaster, and the graphics and animations remain what they are. In addition, it is still a difficult game and already at the time with generic-style dungeons. Still, it is a remarkable game, highly recommended for JRPG and dungeon crawler lovers.
