Life is Strange: True Colors Reviews
Life is Strange: True Colors isn't perfect, but it's exactly what fans of the franchise needed. Deck Nine has been right and has taken command of the saga with a powerful story and a protagonist to remember.

Like the other games in the series, Life is Strange: True Colors is a unique, exciting and rewarding experience. Unfortunately, the game suffers with a problematic technical performance and some bugs.

Life is Strange: True Colors is a fun entry in the franchise. It doesn't really break any rules or do anything shocking, but it's a comfortable game to play. The time I spent in Haven Springs put me in a shockingly good mood for a game revolving around a murder, and I welcomed the entire experience. Unfortunately, the tacked-on murder mystery drags down the story somewhat and keeps it from reaching the highest highs that it can. If you're a fan of the franchise, you're sure to like this latest entry.
Comparing to previous titles true colors feel somehow underwhelming, whether that's Alex's character or plot development. And while "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing but I think it's time to change things a little bit in the series.

What True Colors lacks in the emotional gut-wrench that the previous games have, it makes it for with a refined format that presents a story that fits right into the series and tells it in the best way seen so far. You're very unlikely to be disappointed here.
If you’re invested in stories that will make your heartache and your stomach flutter, Life is Strange: True Colors is worth your time. With a cast of likable, developed characters and a mystery that you’ll want to see through to the end, True Colors holds its own amongst narrative-driven games and cements itself as the best Life is Strange game yet.
Life is Strange: True Colors presents a tale of empathy as you witness a town struggle to deal with a tragic event. I enjoyed my time in Haven, especially when seeing the world through the eyes of different characters and the ending presented an interesting twist. However, it's all over quickly and the mystery-solving portion is lackluster but it's an ultimately rewarding experience.
Life is Strange: True Colors is charming, inviting, and contemplates how one can overcome hurts from the past and grow from them, which just falls short by its abrupt and not very well-developed conclusion.
Whether you’re an existing fan of Life Is Strange or a series newcomer, there’s a lot for you to love here within True Colors. The story is the strongest to date and my personal favourite of the franchise, and when backed by it’s stellar soundtrack, there are many moments that deliver such a powerful emotional punch. I thoroughly enjoyed my time adventuring through Haven Springs as Alex and I’m incredibly excited to see where the team at Deck Nine take the series next.
While there are many excellent story-driven titles in the Switch eShop, the tendency is more usually on grand tales or bold accomplishments than fleshed out characters that feel authentic...
Life is Strange: True Colors is Deck Nine’s best work to date and I’d place it just behind the original brace of games. It’s more streamlined, has no “fail” states, and doesn’t delve quite as deeply into the supporting cast, but the story is compelling.
Life is Strange: True Colors is one of my 2022 highlights so far. There aren't just emotions on the screen but as a player, I feel them through all of this journey.

Life is Strange: True Colors grapples with some heavy emotions -- literally and figuratively -- and manages to stick the landing more often than not. The various chapters range from fine to great, with more being somewhere just above good than not. Its choices felt meaningful, its dialogue largely heartfelt, and I'm still thinking about the ending days later. It'd be easy to boil the game down to being a glorified empathy simulator, but the reality is that Life is Strange: True Colors is more complicated, more beautifully complex than that. And for a game in part about the manifestation of emotional resonance, it does end up being emotionally resonant. It's hard to ask for more than the delivery on that promise.
Life is Strange: True Colours features what really matters in a Life is Strange game: a likeable protagonist and a brilliant setting. It’s also received a massive visual upgrade this time around, which really makes the town of Haven Springs feel cosy, somewhere you want to spend your time.
Life is Strange: True Colors is a fantastic, grounded narrative wrapped up in a video game that’s too afraid to be a video game and give players the precise agency that makes the medium limitless.
With an impactful story, fleshed-out characters, and some of the best writing the series has seen so far, Life Is Strange: True Colors is a triumphant success. The main story’s twist leaves something to be desired, as it’s a bit predictable and by-the-numbers, but it is bolstered by the other parts of the carefully woven narrative package. All of these strengths show that the franchise is clearly in good hands with Deck Nine, as the studio is pushing the series into a great new direction.
Probably the best game in the series thus far, Life is Strange: True Colors takes an important journey into the human condition with a few bumps on the road.
Life Is Strange: True Colors tries to tell a mature story, one of grieving and self-loathing, how it transforms our lives and others, how we come not to find relationships but build them with those around us. But for all of these themes, it scarcely succeeds at capturing any one of them. It can be compelling, captivating, and charming at one moment and forcefully maudlin at others. It tries to capture the full rainbow spectrum of human emotions, every last hue and shade that makes up the complexities of ourselves. But it only has four colors.
If you are fans of the Life is Strange saga, in True Colors you will find an installment with which you will be satisfied since it is a continuist title.

Life is Strange: True Colors is a journey about emotions and relationships with unforgettable characters. It's great to follow the development of a complex and passionate protagonist, who gradually learns more about herself and uses a simple but at the same time powerful gift to do justice and help people. Despite the minor technical problems, it's a memorable adventure in which we learn that empathy is essential to bettering the world.
