Frostpunk 2 is just as good as the first, but with some interesting improvements: the idea is bigger, bolder and even more refined. The challenge remains intense, but with greater accessibility.

Cold, bleak and unforgiving, just like its predecessor. It may stray even further from the "traditional" City Builders genre, but when experiencing what it has to offer, Frostpunk 2 is in many ways the ideal sequel.

11 bit studios has clearly understood what we expect from a sequel. Frostpunk 2 is not just a new opus with improved graphics and additional scenarios. This second opus offers a truly unique experience that satisfies old and new players alike. Whether with the implementation of its political system or its neighborhoods, the game succeeds in renewing the young franchise. Nevertheless, the tutorial still lacks a little clarity, especially for neophytes who will have to spend several minutes reading long texts to understand everything. Fortunately, the game also incorporates countless accessibility options so that everyone can enjoy it. If you're a management game fan, you won't be disappointed with this title!

Frostpunk 2 is the deserving successor to the original game that builds on pretty much everything and blows all expectations out of proportion. It is an immediate recommendation for city-builders, RTS, and 4X genre fans. And for fans of the original game, what are you waiting for? The frozen land awaits.

Frostpunk 2 is an excellent city-builder and simulation experience. The sound, art and graphic design are beautiful. It’s also an intense experience. This intensity can sometimes feel overwhelming, and a touch of humor might have provided a welcome contrast to the relentless bleakness. The risk of too much-simulated suffering is that the most challenging decisions can leave you feeling emotionally detached, as the end often justifies the means. This dynamic makes Frostpunk 2 a unique experience where you can never truly be the ‘good guy,’ only ‘less bad.’ It’s better to play this in short bursts, as it will keep you from becoming emotionally numb to all the suffering in Frostpunk 2.

Frostpunk 2 lives up to - and in most ways - surpasses the original. A chilling, intense game about human survival and conflict - that will leave you questioning your own sense of morality for many hours.

Frostpunk 2 builds upon the original by throwing everything out and starting over. The stakes are high with Frostpunk 2, and it’s not afraid to kill you. Though you do learn from this in order to retry and do better until you get that “a-ha moment” for the satisfaction of overcoming the odds for success. Unlike the inhabitants of my colonies, we’re eating good with the release of Frostpunk 2, as it’s an excellent survival game that despite its weather, has no chill.

My time with the game has been a great experience, the team at 11bit Studios have taken the groundbreaking Frostpunk and tweaked and refined it into something new. Almost every piece of the game has changed for the better. While some diehard fans might miss the tighter experience, there’s no doubt that this is a sequel that changes the landscape of the Frostpunk series. And I’m here for it.

Frostpunk 2 proves that life in a world filled with ice and divided at its core is difficult, but it becomes possible when you accept that failure is not the end. Combining politics, strategy and simulation, 11 bit studios' latest work stands out and delivers an essential experience for those interested in the genre and, especially, in titles that challenge moral convictions. Bundle up and get up: New London is calling you — it's time to prove once again that tomorrow can be better than expected.

Frostpunk 2 is shaping up to be an evolutionary leap for both the city-building and survival genres. By blending complex resource management, moral dilemmas, and factional politics within a frozen wasteland, 11 bit studios has created a game that is both emotionally gripping and mechanically deep.

With Frostpunk 2, 11 bit studios brings us a sequel with a clear philosophy that makes the series grow by proposing something new but without losing its identity. A fantastic sequel that looks forward without repeating itself and, as its proposal states, 11 bit studios seeks to continue building, but thinking about the future.

The game’s high difficulty and complex management systems provide a rewarding experience for those willing to invest the time to master its intricacies. It is a game that stays with you long after you have stopped playing as you question the actions you did and didn’t make. You will learn a lot about yourself playing this game.

Frostpunk 2 has a specific way of making you feel urgency, all the time. The stress I felt when the death and illness count was rising in my city was beyond terrifying. Knowing your city is on the brink of collapse isn’t the end through. There is a reward for playing again. You start a new game now knowing the outcome of your actions. It helps you become a better leader and this is reward enough. I will absolutely be playing more of this game. I won’t be surprised if I beat my record time spent on Frostpunk with this one!

Frostpunk 2 manages to keep true to the spirit of the original while at the same time increasing the scale a hundredfold via the addition of smart political systems that will once again have players questioning their own beliefs.

Overall, I had a positive experience with Frostpunk 2. Whilst I found the game quite challenging to complete, I believe much of that difficulty stemmed from a subpar tutorial. Given the complexity of the game and the numerous mechanics it offers, a more comprehensive tutorial is definitely required.

Like its predecessor, Frostpunk 2 is extremely dark and dystopian. If you are looking for a laid-back building strategy game to relax in, you are in the wrong place here. The rays of hope are few and far between, and death and despair are omnipresent. The political components, the exciting story and the decisions whose consequences you have to live with are great. Yes, it lacks the complexity of comparable strategy games. If you are looking for the great depth and complex gameplay mechanics of Anno, you won't find them here. Nevertheless, Frostpunk 2 is a worthy successor. The annoying micromanagement is gone, exploration and politics take up more space, which I appreciate. If you can cope with the dark scenario, you can definitely pick it up. “Frostpunk 2” only just misses out on four stars.
