Windjammers 2 Reviews
Windjammers 2 probably won't take the video game world by storm, but it's an entertaining sports action game nonetheless.
Windjammers 2 feels more like a "more of the same" than it should.

Existing fans of the Windjammers series will absolutely love Windjammers 2 – no doubt about it. Newcomers willing to put the effort in to learn its mechanics will find a lot to enjoy, too. It’s just a shame that its single-player offerings are so slight, and the AI isn’t much fun to go up against. Multiplayer is the highlight here, and if you do plan on playing against friends, family and/or strangers, you’ll get way more than your money’s worth.
Windjammers 2 recreates the arcade experience of the original SNK fighting-meets-Frisbee came with solid results.
If you liked Windjammers, you’ll probably like Windjammers 2 even more – but there’s not really enough here to rope in new fans. Windjammers 2 is very much a more of the same type of sequel, but that’s alright by me.
Windjammers 2 is an addictive 1v1 arcade game that is perfect for esports or your own little rivalries. The tight gameplay and controls expand on the original, and if you find an opponent close to your own level, you'll experience a ton of great matches. There isn't much that you can do outside of some bot matches and local play. Online features are available, but during our testing period, it was almost impossible to find an opponent, much less one who wouldn't immediately obliterate us. That doesn't make Windjammers 2 less good, but it does limit how much of that goodness you can experience. If you have a few capable friends or want to try it on another console, Windjammers 2 is the perfect 1v1 game to play and obsess over in a friendly rivalry.
It may be several decades since the original was released, but the sportsmanship torch has been proudly passed onto Windjammers 2. It may lack a comprehensive offline arcade mode, but you can still get windswept into its addictive gameplay cycle and online competition.
It’s not often that a classic like Windjammers is able to make a comeback such as this. Obscure software has a tendency to fade into the abyss over time, but Windjammers 2 has taken the fine work Dotemu did with the original game and expanded upon it both intelligently and exponentially. Windjammers 2 has bold, exceptional visuals and an expanded suite of moves and abilities that turn each match into legitimate thrill rides. Solo players won’t get quite as much from the gameplay here, but when played with others Windjammers 2 truly shines. This is the rare sequel that tops what came before it—definitely consider it the next time you head to the eShop.
Playing Windjammers 2 feels so sick. The different options open up so many different playstyles, which are further complimented by the differences in arenas. The game succeeds at making something that’s simple and easy to get into and also has high level depth. It’s great, which makes the lack of a modern online feature set stand out that much more.
DotEmu does it again with Windjammers 2, an arcade experience in his purest form. While the game is dynamic and works great online thanks to rollback netcode, the lack of content, modes to play or progression can discourage newer players that expect modern elements.

Windjammers 2 is a worthy successor to the disc flying action of the Neo-Geo classic. While it is a bit light on modes, its core action has enough variety to be the next big competitive hit.
Windjammers 2 is as simple as it is fun, offering a rare balance between nostalgia and modernity. In essence, it features a very sophisticated gameplay design, albeit with some inaccuracies, in addition to neat cartoonish visuals and a lot of competition spirit. But the lack of different modes and extra content can shorten its lifespan.

I’ll admit to having a bit of an old school weakness for the weird spectacle that the original Windjammers managed to create by mixing a relatively simple game played with a frisbee with the over-the-top attitude and personality of a professional wrestling match...
Windjammers 2 is a competitive arcade sports game about flying discs. Using an arsenal of different techniques and throwing styles, I faced off against computer opponents and my friends. Was this competition worthy enough to be on my television? Or should I have done something else? Find out in this Rapid Review.
The first Windjammers was an arcade romp nearly lost to time as other multiplayer hits hogged all the attention in the mid-90s, but Windjammers 2 gives the series the attention it deserves.
The spirit of the arcade scene in the 90s is fully alive with this title. I highly recommend Windjammers 2 to anybody who is a fan of arcade gameplay.
If you are a multiplayer arcade game fan then you need Windjammers 2 in your collection right away. It’s fast, it is fun and it’s super addictive, ticking all of the right boxes when it comes to multiplayer gaming and there is little I can find to criticise from that aspect. If you are intending to play solo though there isn’t enough here to recommend a purchase on day one as it will be over fairly quickly and the characters just don’t have enough identity or individuality about them to make it worth your while and the play value is limited. As an arcade game, this is an absolute belter and one that really has captured the arcade scene of the 90’s perfectly so grab a friend and get jamming.
Three decades have passed since the original’s release! But hey, Windjammers 2 is here, and it manages to deliver on core points.
Dotemu can boldly resurrect more brands. It worked with Streets of Rage 4, it also worked with Windjammers 2. Worth playing in Game Pass.

On top of the amazing gameplay and beautiful art style, Windjammers 2 really hits home with the classic arcade nostalgia. The second I started playing the game, I was excited to put it on the big screen and have a showdown with some friends. Even without people nearby, the online play and arcade mode is more than enough to grab your attention for hours on end. Windjammers 2 feels like one of those games that should come standard in any gamers library, even if it’s only to pull out when friends are over.
