Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s simplicity is its greatest asset as well as its greatest weakness. It makes it a fun and simple platformer filled with great copy abilities and a drive to work towards upgrading them all into cooler and more deadly versions. But it won’t likely have the staying power of some of the franchise’s earlier entries either. It’s a AAA Switch game though made by Nintendo, so surely it’s fun and will have its fans nonetheless.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land takes the puffball to new heights in every way, breathing new life into a beloved franchise and innovating at every step.
With its innovative gameplay mechanics and wonderful visuals, Kirby and the Forgotten Land captivates players from start to finish. Every level is meticulously crafted, presenting new challenges and surprises at every turn. The vast and immersive environments encourage exploration, rewarding players with hidden secrets and collectibles, whilst Kirby’s adorable charm is on full display, making the entire narrative experience delightful and endearing. The game strikes a wonderful balance between accessibility and depth too, making it suitable for both casual and hardcore gamers. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a testament to the enduring appeal of the franchise, setting a new standard for platformers in terms of creativity and enjoyment, and serves as a refreshing puff of air for the adoring pink mascot.
The result is a well balanced game that really shows off some much needed depth that the Kirby series has really lacked up until now.
It’s surprising that even as an adult Kirby still brings me happiness. There’s something special about games that offer so much joy to the world and I really hope that Kirby as a character continues to do so for many, many years. If there is a follow-up to Forgotten Land, I hope that this isometric style is further explored.
We already deserved a Kirby title that lives up to the legacy of Planet Robobot and Triple Deluxe, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a wonderful discovery by a team with inexhaustible creativity. It leaves me dreaming of a sequel.

HAL Laboratory studio has taken up the challenge of giving our favorite series a more modern look. I love that the devs dared with more wacky and over the top Kirby transformations than ever before and powers that are pushed to the maximum with their evolutions. The younger ones should find it a rather fun and accessible game, while the slightly older ones will have fun with the more advanced challenges. Kirby and the Forgotten Land isn't perfect, but it lays the groundwork to a futur of Kirby that I can get behind.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land brings everyone's favorite pink hero into a 3D environment for the first time in a mainline title - and it just feels right. One of the Nintendo Switch's best casual offerings, particularly for those who enjoy couch co-op.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land embraces old and new, becoming a high point for the series and a must-have for fans that had me hooked the moment it greeted me with a full-on theme song. It might leave behind a few pieces of the pink puffball’s history, but it ultimately moves him forward in a big way. With a mouthful of charm, it’s a journey that anyone can love thanks to smart design choices and its addicting mix of secrets and unlockables. Be it a direct sequel or something that carries its style, I need more of this game.
My family and I had a total blast playing this latest Kirby game and certainly I recommend it for Kirby and platforming fans alike. It's a joy to explore the 3D worlds and the new Mouthful abilities and Copy Ability upgrades are great additions to the series that I hope carry forward to future games. If you're looking for a fun, easy-breezy co-op experience for your next family games night, this is the one.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land features a gorgeous-looking world, an exquisite soundtrack, a crazy amount of content to explore, a perfectly implemented co-op multiplayer and gameplay mechanics that will make everyone want more. With its accessible but adjustable difficulty setting, Kirby and the Forgotten Land will joyfully fill many hours of both newcomers and veterans alike.

HAL Laboratory has done an excellent job in making sure Kirby and the Forgotten Land pay homage to the series’ roots, while still delivering a fresh experience of platforming and action from a new perspective.
I’ve yet to meet anyone who doesn’t adore our pink, lovable and friend-shaped Nintendo mascot, Kirby. If they don’t, maybe they aren’t to be trusted… Anyway, yes, Kirby is back with the first 3D action-platformer in the series, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, on the Nintendo Switch! The title was first announced in September 2021 in a Nintendo Direct; I was instantly enamoured with the abandoned city overtaken by nature vibes, which I’ve expressed my love for in my Cloud Gardens preview and review.
The charm of Kirby and the Forgotten Land never wore out through the entirety of my 20+ hours with the game, and it took Nintendo’s New Donk City aesthetic to the next level.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is easy to pick up, beautiful to look at and fun to play by yourself or with friends in co-op and you might just find yourself spending way too long absorbed in this cute world as the time just slips on by.
Taking a jump to 3D from 2D is always risky, however Kirby and the Forgotten Land avoided all the possible pitfalls and creates a solid foundation for the games to come, considering it's already one of the best titles in the series.
