Another example of Nintendo giving the players a game that seems interesting on the outside but is kind of empty inside. Mario Strikers has some updates planned, but I really hope that the big N understands one day that a full price should mean a complete game. Still, I won’t lie – Mario Strikers provides lots of fun, because its core gameplay is good.

Mario Strikers: Battle League is a welcome return for the sub-series, with engaging gameplay that papers over the thin variety of modes.

Unfortunately Nintendo failed to bring the gamers a worthy successor to the series.

At its core Battle League is a brilliant arcade-style football game, offering fantastic multiplayer fun. However, the lack of single-player modes, the exploitable AI and the small launch roster mean solo players may find it lacking.

Ultimately, Mario Strikers: Battle League reminded me a bit of last year's Mario Golf: Super Rush. Both games offer a fun core gameplay experience but are ultimately very thin in terms of content which hinders their replayability. If you don't have a dedicated group who wants to play Battle League on the regular, the game could end up collecting dust on the shelf. Next Level Games has promised additional roster updates and other content releases after release, so hopefully the game grows into a more robust experience after a few months.

Ultimately, Mario Strikers: Battle League feels like Liverpool’s trophy cabinet this year. An FA Cup and a League Cup are nothing to sniff at, but it feels below par. With no cup final goals and two victories on penalties, they didn’t even underachieve with style. Battle League is very similar. It’s Mario Strikers again, and the football itself is pretty good, but the stuff of legends? Not even close.

Funny kick for in between, but due to the meager circumference it runs out of breath too quickly.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is a very wisely prepared production that offers dynamic and interesting gameplay. Somewhere in the end there was no suitable content, but even in this situation it is worth putting on traffic jams, doing a few tricks and scoring a hat trick. This game provides a lot of satisfaction.

Before concluding, it must finally be remembered that Nintendo has promised free future updates, which will expand the title in terms of content with lots of new characters added to the starting roster. We'll see if the continued support promised by the Big N will be able to keep the Mario Strikers community alive months after its launch. In short, if on the one hand it is appreciable the effort of Nintendo to propose a more articulated online structure than its most recent productions, there is still the feeling that on the content level Battle League Football could have done something more.

Mario Strikers: Battle League should easily meet the expectations of those who have been waiting for a sequel for a long time. The game is more fun than ever thanks to a more dynamic and perfectly fluid gameplay. It also takes a lot of practice to master it perfectly and the challenge is there even for veteran players. In short, Nintendo is starting the summer on the right track with this new Mario Strikers.

After 15 years of absence, Mario Strikers: Battle League returns with a competitive approach. The best part is its multiplayer mode and deep mechanics, which make every match a challenge. It's a shame that its content is sparse at launch day but it's a very fun and frantic game that can improve with future updates.

While it left me satisfied as far as gameplay goes, Mario Strikers Battle League misses its goal when it comes to the single player and online aspects of it. Matches can be fun and intense and the gameplay can give a surprising depth to it, but unfortunately gets tarnished in terms of its production and content. If Nintendo chooses to support it through content updates then it has all the potential to show its worth.

Mario Strikers Battle League isn't a bad game, but a game that lacks any sort of drive or ambition to stand out from the pack of other Mario Sport titles. The roster is minuscule, the arenas do nothing, the controls are needlessly complicated and it was difficult to stay focused on the ball and your players.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is the latest Mario sports title on the Nintendo Switch. Though I have never played any of the Mario Strikers games before, since many people think highly of the series, I was eager to get my hands on it. I was especially excited to see how the title would run on the Switch, as I enjoyed the fast-paced action and gritty art style used in the trailers. Was my first experience with the series a good one? Find out in this Rapid Review.

Solid fun gameplay, outstanding performance, and those timeless Nintendo visuals make Mario Strikers: Battle League Football yet another fun Nintendo Switch exclusive title that can convert the masses to pick up and play sports. Even the ones like myself that detest the source game it comes from!

Mario Strikers: Battle League may be barebones, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. More characters, customization options, and game modes could really help improve the game, but the package delivered on release still holds incredible replay value. It’s a game worth coming back to over and over again, whether with friends or by yourself. Over-the-top action and the stylized Mario look make Mario Strikers: Battle League one of the most fun sports game experiences, I just hope more is added soon so it doesn’t get stale after a few months.

Thanks to fantastic gameplay and presentation by Next Level Games, Mario Strikers: Battle League is the installment that fans have been waiting for 15 years. However, a lack of content and an online mode that needs improvement hamper the experience.

Mario Strikers: Battle League is a game that's carried mostly by its local multiplayer and gameplay. There was so much missed potential for this game to shine brighter than its predecessors. From the lack of single-player modes, content, and limitations to its online, it's very tough to justify buying the game in its current state.

Mario Strikers: Charged had almost perfected the formula well over a decade ago and, in comparison, Battle League feels like a watered-down version. It has much simpler gameplay, fewer characters and stadiums, much less single-player content, and a fraction of the attitude of Charged.
