Overwatch 2 is a worthy successor to the original Overwatch that doesn’t so much reinvent the wheel as it does improve upon it. While it does have its issues, the core gameplay and improved UI make for a fun and fully realized sequel.
Overwatch 2 still has the same enjoyable gameplay loop and incredible character design from Blizzard’s original hero shooter. But this free-to-play update is iterative, rather than groundbreaking.
Overwatch 2 restores the fantastic hero shooter by making it free for all to enjoy. Changes to multiplayer mechanics make gameplay even more enthralling and address annoyances with the original. Although, there are still valid concerns about hero balancing, UI overload, and the future of the battle pass model. While it may not feel like a true sequel without the promised PvE story mode, Overwatch 2 can potentially be the most popular shooter on the market.
Overwatch 2's core gameplay is an absolute blast, but it mostly consists of content that already existed with annoying progression added to the mix.
Fans who have continued to play Overwatch over the years grew hungry for the new maps, modes, and heroes that Overwatch 2 delivers on. At this point, it feels like the bare minimum fans need to keep enjoying Overwatch. As more maps and heroes are introduced, Overwatch 2 may start to feel more like a full sequel rather than a hefty much-needed update. If Blizzard had charged sixty dollars for what the game currently is, fans would be disappointed. The ten-dollar Battle Pass gives fans lots of content to unlock with the game's improved multiplayer action. Even though it will require some play time to unlock heroes behind the Battle Pass, it's an excellent time for new players to see what makes Overwatch as fun and charming as it is. Still, veteran players anxious for something new may want to wait until Overwatch 2 feels more complete.
Overwatch 2 looks better both in terms of graphics and gameplay, but the large amount of gameplay required for unlockable items is entirely unsuitable for the game we fell in love with.

Not everyone is going to be a fan of the changes and I'm certain many fans will be incensed with the way Blizzard has monetised Overwatch 2 but I'm also certain those some fans will be booting up the game on day one and playing until their eyeballs bleed. Overwatch is back and it's better than ever.
While Overwatch 2 is still a good time, and an improvement over the original, it feels like less of a sequel and more of an update. There's some solid changes to the foundations of Overwatch, but a noticeable lack of new content, archaic game modes, and balancing issues leave something to be desired.
Overwatch 2's enhancements feel great and perfect gameplay in many ways. The free to play format will keep you afloat and will reveal to many a fantastic hero shooter with an impressive charisma, but it is not a sequel. What we saw here should have come sooner and may well be insufficient for some fans.

It's not really a sequel, but Overwatch's enthusiastic rejection of self-serious military shooters still draws you in.
Overwatch 2 is a lot of things, but a proper sequel to the original Overwatch is not one of them. Although a few new maps and heroes are welcome, and the gameplay itself remains just as enjoyably intense as it always was, there is nothing here that feels innovative or notable enough to justify that '2' in the title. At this stage, Overwatch 2 feels more like a few updates Blizzard could have pushed to the original release. Couple this with the heightened focus on monetization and the absence at launch of the promised co-op story content, and you're left with an experience that feels like it falls short of the potential it had. As a live service free-to-play game, perhaps time will eventually see this new release grow in fresh and unexpected ways to eventually prove itself a worthy sequel, but the game we have at launch feels just 'fine'. At any rate, it costs you nothing but time to try, and it is just about as fun in a match as it always has been. As long as you're not too bothered by what it could have been, we'd recommend giving Overwatch 2 a shot.
Overwatch 2 right now looks like an unfinished game or a massive update. due to heavy focus on Microtransanctions, server issues and lack of new content, Overwatch 2 is far from the Ideal Sequel we were looking forward to play.

I am very pleased with the core gameplay changes and where the game is headed. Game development is a group effort, and although Kaplan is deeply missed, I see these changes as evidence that Team 4 is still capable of magic, and eager to prove it.
With a revitalised gameplay experience and tighter combat, the actual moment-to-moment gameplay of Overwatch has never been better. Let’s hope the monetisation strategy relaxes a little.
Overwatch 2 probably didn’t need to be billed as a full sequel or have a number put at the end of its name. It offers more changes than the average update, but billing it as a major update to the game would have been more honest. Still, marketing is marketing and doesn’t change that there are a lot of changes here that will make Overwatch fans who haven’t played in some time want to jump back in and see what all the fuss is about. Overwatch 2 remains a fantastic shooter, and now that you can play for free, any Switch player in need of a great multiplayer shooter should absolutely check it out.
A great fresh version of the game that desperately needed it. It would be great if after switching to a free-to-play model Blizzard will update the game more often.

A bit of a ham-fisted attempt at a sequel that feels more like a balance update to the original than anything else. Overwatch 2 is a lesson in how not to do a free-to-play sequel to a much-loved and established franchise. Other than that, it still plays pretty amazingly, but this is ultimately a disappointment.
It's hard to build a tower, but it's really easy to break it down. Instead, you can check the areas that were previously unfortunate and build them stronger. It remains to be seen whether Blizzard and Overwatch will take this opportunity to showcase their great gaming services again.

The sequel to 2016's Overwatch, titled simply Overwatch 2, is entertaining to play through but does not provide any game-changing mechanics. The foundation that made Overwatch so unique is in Overwatch 2, a game so full of character, variety, and charm that its rivals can't hold a candle to it. Overwatch 2 is a game that, with some careful tweaks from Blizzard, has the potential to carry on its epic legacy for generations to follow.
