Octopath Traveler II is a worthy successor to the first game, considering it improves upon many of the faults from the original whilst introducing refreshing new systems. The beautiful pixel art, engaging turn-based combat, gripping storytelling, and immaculate soundtrack make this game one of the must-plays of the year. The essence of nostalgia it manages to capture is simply unparalleled.
Octopath Traveler II is a true RPG gem. Its robust cast of characters delivers engaging storylines set in a picturesque and diverse world, while Its gameplay is full of freedom and possibilities.
Octopath Traveler 2 is 40+ hours JRPGing well-spent that will keep you engrossed in the genre for the whole year, amplified by its HD-2D art style and its amazing music from composer Yasunori Nishiki.
I could just ask you if you liked the first Octopath Traveler and if you did, you will like the second one. But that would be doing an injustice. To those who didn't get a chance to do the original title, you can do the second one without concern. But to those who have already done it, there are still minor adjustments that enhance our overall experience. The soundtrack is boundlessly generous, the day/night cycle is welcome and, let's face it, each character's storyline is more interesting. At the risk of repeating myself, you can't change a winning formula. But you can certainly tweak it a bit. And that's exactly what Square Enix has done successfully.

masterclass in narrative convergence, the eight-fold seemingly disparate paths of Octopath Traveler II come together to form a tightly plotted and engaging whole. Though its gameplay is not ground-breaking, its battles are fun and rewarding and manage to cut out much of the grind of its predecessor, making it an essential JRPG experience.
Octopath Traveler 2 is a fantastic sequel that retains its distinct features while enhancing its overall coherence. It's a top-tier JRPG from Square Enix and a strong contender for 2023's GOTY. Although pacing issues persist, the game's narrative rewards perseverance, resulting in a memorable experience. Whether new or returning, players will find plenty of entertainment and engagement in this title.
Octopath Traveler 2 not only iterated or refined, but it also made the Octopath Traveler series a highly anticipated series in my eyes.
Octopath Traveler II has the formula for being one of, if not the greatest Japanese Role-Playing games of all time. A modern classic for that ages.
Everything in Octopath Traveller II coalesces in a way that makes an enjoyable classical style of RPG.
Despite the negatives and criticisms of the game, this is still one of the best RPGs you can currently play on the Nintendo Switch. The game looks beautiful, tells eight interesting stories with eight different heroes and play styles and is accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack. The world now rewards the player much more for exploring and the grinding has been made a little less painful in this title.

Though a lack of character integration in core narratives does keep this title from masterpiece status, Octopath Traveler 2 is better than the original in every possible way. Improved combat, unforgettable characters, excellent narrative structure, gorgeous visuals, and a legendary soundtrack make this one of the best Square Enix titles in years. For fans of JRPGs, Octopath Traveler 2 is worth the price of admission and then some.
Although Octopath Traveler 2 is similar to the first installment, it does everything well and better as a JRPG. The developers have listened to the players, and what was missing before has found a place here. It is not a revolution, but it is still an excellent game.

Modern games are all about the player experience, but Octopath Traveler 2 isn't. If you change your mindset and take the time to experience it, you can feel the magic that keeps people hooked despite its awkwardness. It's like a thick adventure book, with exciting content no matter when you open it, and once you close it, you won't miss it too much. Octopath Traveler 2 is indeed a game that chooses its players, and I am happy to go back and forth with it.

The developers of Octopath Traveler 2 have chosen to keep the elements of their previous game that emphasized the player's journey rather than individual stories. In addition, they have strengthened the gameplay mechanics to deepen each travel. Although there is still a lack of interaction in the storyline, the RPG's core theme of travel has been further strengthened.

While Octopath Traveler II is a better game than the first overall, thanks to improved writing, visuals and combat, we would have liked to see more courage from the people at Square Enix and Acquire, which both did a great job with this IP five years ago. The first Octopath Traveler is still a great game. The sequel does not change anything beside story and characters, but simultaneously maintains the strengths and rises comfort and depth. If you like the predecessor or JRPGs in general, you will need to play it.

Octopath Traveler II does what an excellent sequel should. Instead of breaking new ground left and right, it improves on the original in nearly every way and feels more confident about the stories it tells. There’s still room for improvement in some of its stiffer areas, but Octopath II is a sterling achievement all around.
