A pretty funny romp that never quite finds its speed both as a shooter and as a comedic story. It's unlikely you'll be bored with High on Life.
High on Life perfectly blends tried-and-true Metroidvania and classic first-person shooter elements with Justin Roiland and Squanch Games’ distinctive brand of dark, fourth wall-breaking comedy, resulting in an action-adventure that no gamer should dare miss out on, especially when it is being offered for free to anyone with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
In conclusion, High on Life is an enjoyable yet silly first person shooter that works on most levels. While the humour sometimes misses he target, for the most part it is quite a witty and humouress story with interesting protagonists and antagonists to be found along the way as you explore this immersive alien shooter. Definitely a game for those looking for something unique yet different in the first person shooter genre.
At the end of the day, High on Life seems like too short of an experience rushed through using minimal enemy types and linear story progression. The game could be so much more but feels like it was more of a movie rather than its own universe.
Overall, High on Life is a solid first-person shooter/adventure game. The action is exciting, and the boss fights are frustrating in their difficulty but satisfying once you take down someone. The exploration portions make you want to return to each area to suss out secrets, and you'd just wish there were more environments to explore. All of this is done at a good length, but only if you're a fan of the humor. If you are a fan, add an extra point to the score. Even if you're not a fan of the humor, the adventure is worth experiencing at least once.
High On Life is a fun and humorous FPS that, while not innovating on the genre, is a joy to play all throughout its main story. However, it lacks a little technical polish and optional goals.
High on Life shows why not all games are supposed to be GOTY material. Sometimes we play game for pure entertainment purposes and nothing more. that being said, it shouldn't be used to excuse game's technical problems or its ample issues. High on Life delivers an entertaining experience, but filled with technical problems and other shortcomings that can't be ignored.

High on Life is nothing if not unique, though its writing and mechanics only go so far.
If you are looking for a game that will make you laugh, High On Life is the one. It's a bare bones FPS with acid humor, brilliant characters, and it's filled with absurd situations; it will make you feel inside an Adult Swim series. However, its limited exploration and rhythm, the game is better committed to making you laugh rather than shoot.

Squanch Games created by Justin Roiland presents us with a new, beautifully absurd sci-fi adventure, filled with his signature humor choices (just look at the game premise and its name), goofy characters, and extremely inventive game design. If you love the likes of Rick and Morty you'll surely love the direction this offensively brilliant game goes. Sure, there are some performance issues and sometimes you wonder if this is just an average shooter but then you realize you're playing a game with TALKING GUNS!!!

High On Life unapologetically caters to advent fans of absurdist comedy, which overflows with expletive language and wacky scenarios. Lack of enemy variety and performance issues may be a deterrent for some, however.
High on Life can be extremely annoying to some and extremely fun to others, as there is sarcasm in almost every minute of the game about religion, superstition, politics, daily routines, and even colors. If you are a Justin Roiland fan, there is no doubt that High on Life will be one the best adventures of your life.

Even though I had zero expectations and was ready to be disappointed, I can easily say that High On Life turned out to be a very satisfying game, If you want to play an FPS which is dipped in some meta humor sauce and gameplay inspired by Metroid Prime and similar games High On Life is exactly what you are looking for. Of course if it's humor suits you, otherwise you may lower the score by a point or two.

The best way I could describe this game in a concise way that this is Chex Quest meets Halo with the writing of Rick and Morty. Now, if Justin Roiland’s voice and comedy doesn’t normally do anything for you, what you’ll find in High On Life isn’t going to change that. While the number of bugs and crashes weren’t that many or that big of a deal, it did impact my overall enjoyment. I was immersed in the world built here by Squanch Games, completing it in just a few sittings. High On Life is a great adventure with quality shooting and a filthy mouth to be one of the best and funniest games I’ve played all year.
Anyone who isn’t thrilled at the idea of having Roiland constantly chattering in their ear for a dozen hours straight will likely find the game’s incessant need to force itself on the player annoying. With the addition of uncompelling combat, frustrating exploration, and a lack of anything else to offer players, High on Life is one of the most annoying, derivative, and slogging experiences in years.
High On Life is absolutely fantastic, and you should play it.
High On Life is easily one of the funniest games I’ve played in a while and is a great game to close the year out with.
With a vivid and extraterrestrial setting, combat that uses its bizarre tools well, and a straightforward campaign that doesn’t demand to be played eternally, Squanch Games’ first shooter is impressively able to claim its own space within the genre.
