With amazing visuals and a steeper-than-expected learning curve, EA Sports PGA Tour is a welcome return to the market.

EA Sports PGA Tour gives you likely everything you could want in a golf game, including many of the most important courses and a few of the best players, and while it's not revolutionary or groundbreaking as modern golf games go, its gameplay is satisfying and fun enough to take you onto golf's biggest stages in the right way.

The most welcome aspect of EA SPORTS PGA TOUR is the PGA aspect itself.

All that being said, the moment I stepped up to Tea Olive at Augusta National, placed a tee into the ground, and stood back to consume the world that EA had created, it justified the price of admission for me.

EA's comeback on the green is a well-made experience, but with a couple of flaws that we hope will be improved in the future of the franchise.

EA Sports PGA Tour returns with a strong emphasis on career mode and features other fun ways to enjoy golf. While the game has some setbacks, it’s still a great return to The Masters.

EA Sports PGA Tour is a good comeback for virtual golf, but it's a live service game that still feels unfinished and occasionally clunky. It lacks the LPGA Tour and has a slow, glitchy interface with unintuitive elements. There are no tutorials or explanations for those unfamiliar with golf, but it's enjoyable for those who know the sport and will offer more over time.

There's a good golf game hiding in EA Sports PGA Tour. The litany of courses is enough to entice fans of the sport, while the roster of pro golfers is amplified by a presentation that looks gorgeous even if the TV-style broadcast feels excessive. However, the imprecise controls make one hope that the upcoming three-click system will make the gameplay more palatable, since everything else related to the actual sport does a great job of trying to help you understand how to perfect shots. Although PGA Tour 2K23 is the better golf game this time around, there is a good base to work with here. Hopefully EA's future iteration can fix the issues to make this a contender for best pro golf simulation on the PC.

Between the lack of personality, inconsistent aesthetics, physics that, accurate or not, look broken, and cynical always online requirements, EA Sports PGA Tour gets just about everything wrong. I found myself jumping right back to Easy Come, Easy Golf almost immediately. Sure, it’s not the most realistic golf game out there, but at least it has fun with the sport and I’m not booted from the game after every other hole. EA’s dour, miserable effort is the “you must be fun at parties” joke/insult manifested as a sports game.

Featuring deep swing mechanics and incredibly detailed courses, EA Sports PGA Tour sets a new gold standard for golf games. The title is every bit as deep as one wants it to be, with RPG elements that encourage replayability and self-improvement.

EA Sports PGA Tour is an excellent and challenging golf game that manages to capture everything that the player wants from a title of the genre. Its gameplay is excellent and the career and challenge modes work exactly as they should, with the package being further enriched by the good online modes and the beautiful graphics of the title.

EA Sports PGA Tour is quite the bogey, but isn't far from stepping up to the competition.

Player customisation (historically a really big deal in this series) is laughably limited, the menus are buggy, there’s terrible lag when taking shots, and there’s no proper tutorial to explain how all the complex systems work. And yet it is the best-looking golf simulation around thanks to the heft of EA’s vast resources. Knowing the importance (and price) of the PGA licence, it’s hard to imagine the various issues won’t be fixed. But it was obviously released way too soon and currently sits in the rough.

EA Sports PGA Tour is meant for people who want a golf game that's true to the sport. It's not often you see a sports game that embraces the "get good" mentality to the extent this one does, but if you're after the real thing, you'll find it here.

If you’re into sports games that allow you to live the thrills, chills, disappointment, and excitement of a professional sportsman, I highly recommend this game. If you’re an action-packed junky that enjoys end-to-end action, this game is way too quiet and passive for you.

While it’s hard to ignore some of the gameplay issues (some of which EA has promised to address as of this writing), the overall experience of EA Sports PGA Tour is very impressive as far as golf games go. The graphics and audio are top notch, as is the golfer creation and the wide range of options available. This game is a sim and not a super easy game, but the developers clearly wanted a wide range of players to be able to enjoy it with the assistance features, and it does a pretty good job of that. Combine this with the huge amount of content and the many ways you can use it, and you have an experience that, despite some stumbles, is near the top of its class. If you’re looking for an immersive golf experience, look no further.

EA Sports PGA Tour for me is the ultimate in golf simulators and I will be returning to play it a lot over the coming months of the golf season. Therefore EA Sports PGA Tour receives the coveted green jacket of a Thumb Culture Platinum Award.

While the menu navigation is clumsy, the videos are glitchy, and the ball-hitting can be spotty, this is a far better effort than the series’ last outing. The closest we have in the golf space is 2K’s PGA TOUR 2K23, but it doesn’t hold a candle to what EA SPORTS PGA TOUR offers. Having all four major golf tournaments is a huge boon to the game’s benefit, and Augusta National is well worth the purchase alone. I’m actually surprised at how well the live service element is done, the game feels more connected than most other sports games. EA SPORTS PGA TOUR is satisfying in its own right, the start of something solid, but needs more polish that I think will happen in due time with patches and updates.

PGA Tour is a beautiful golf game, rich in content and dedicated to simulation, based on a gradual progression, based on an interesting system of accumulation of experience prior to the biggest tournaments. The capture of movements, swing and other possibilities of contact with the courses is quite realistic and the whole environment can impress by the details and degree of polish, not lacking very assertive comments and in reaction to your performance. There are still edges that can be cleaned up and certain tweaks can make the experience better. It's a good return by EA Sports to the world of golf, with licenses and tournaments to keep the community on par with the majors.

PGA Tour has a wonderful core that propels it past its uninteresting roster. EA Sports has created a solid base here that doesn’t feel hollow but can clearly be expanded in future updates or proper sequels. Either way, the team has given players a quality experience if they decide to grip it and rip it in the latest entry.
