Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Reviews
This is how sequels should be. They should build upon the events of the original, introduce new complications for our characters, present challenges that will help them grow as they manage to overcome them and introduce new mechanics that change up the gameplay in new and interesting ways. Spider-Man 2 does all of that and more.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 looks like a true next-gen experience, taking full advantage of the PlayStation 5 hardware. A more mature and epic storyline than in the past, spectacular boss fights, and some minor gameplay improvements return a superlative experience to the user. Despite some technical glitches, Spider-man 2 establishes itself as one of the best superhero titles ever, and a candidate for GOTY 2023.

I have mixed feelings about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The bad side of the amplitude is mostly related to some cast members and the predictable narrative. The game is a technical masterpiece and an exciting, functional sandbox. If you are looking forward to web the bad guys whilst paying less attention to the plot, this game could fill your soul coffers. If you also require a compelling narrative, you better be young and unfamiliar with the rich Spider-Man lore. Long-time fans have seen everything on offer here multiple times.
Marvel's latest offering for the PS5, "Marvel's Spider-Man 2," is nothing short of a sensational masterpiece — that being a matter-of-fact statement, given it is the Sensational Spider-Man.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 shows exactly where the power of the PlayStation 5 lies. Swinging around NYC never felt so satisfying and now you can float to Brooklyn too. From the first minute to the credits, the story hits like a bomb. The new skills provide a different way of playing and there is also plenty to do in this game. The latter sometimes feels like a repetition, but that certainly shouldn't spoil the fun because you are Spider-Man after all!

Spider-Man 2 is a sequel that is superior to the first game in a lot of gameplay ways, but also falls short in the narrative and writing. It’s a more streamlined experience that still offers a ton of blockbuster action, but then it hits you with some head scratching character decisions and pace killing side activities. If you’re a fan of Spider-Man then it is still an absolute must play game, and I would hope that at this point a lot of the issues I had while playing have been ironed out.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 stands as a nearly perfect game that would undoubtedly receive a much higher rating and secure my Game of the Year title if only the developers had taken a more daring leap. Despite this, it remains one of the best games I've encountered this year and is a straightforward recommendation for both dedicated fans and casual gamers alike.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s storyline was disappointing, despite the compelling characters. However, the gameplay experience is nothing short of exceptional. It’s so captivating that I found myself yearning for more of it.
Spider-Man 2 is a cut above its predecessor, with significantly improved gameplay and a narrative that tugs at your heartstrings.
Evolving naturally from the experiences of Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2 offers an experience with a bigger NYC, a bigger story with bigger stakes, and bigger, deadlier foes than ever before.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a textbook example of "more and better." Its gameplay, characters, but above all, the pace of its final stretch, grab the player and don't let go throughout a journey that seems spectacular and fun to unimaginable limits. It's a well-rounded game that improves upon everything seen in the first installment, elevating it as the best superhero game to date.

All of the elements fans loved from Spider-Man and Miles Morales are carried forward, along with many improvements along the way. The combination of which was handled wonderfully by the skilled hands at Insomniac Studios.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was a lot of people's most anticipated Game of the Year, and for good reason with the quality of the two previous entries. and I'm glad to say that it doesn't disappoint. A few pacing issues, some - at times - confusing combat options and the occasional bug does not detract from the overall experience. The performances of the cast as a whole are fantastic, but a special shout for Yuri Lowenthal as Peter needs to happen. The path Peter goes on throughout the story is a hard and harrowing one, but every single sentence and every single syllable is performed with such conviction you'll feel every emotion Peter does. From sad and full of loss to anger and desperate addiction, Lowenthal absolutely smashed it. I spent the majority of my time with a gigantic smile on my face, followed by a slew of emotions that left me emotionally exhausted. If you're a Spider-Man fan, be it film, comics, animated TV shows or early video game adaptations, this is absolutely something you should experience yourself.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero games of all time, as it builds a completely different experience over the first game.

Spider-Man 2 is an all-around success. No other game allows me this much wonderful freedom of movement. Fights are more dynamic and the action is spectacularly staged. Even if you haven’t played the first game or don’t care much for superheroes, check this one out if you can.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a conscious sequel to the first chapter and the one about Miles Morales. Insomniac Games' game succeeds in improving the pace of the story and its gameplay. On the other hand, it does not innovate on its open world formula, still lacking quality in side activities.

“Be Greater, Together” perfectly captures what this game is about. Miles is instrumental in Peter’s arc with the suit, and Peter guides Miles’ development as Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2 shows how it needs both characters to succeed where it wants to. Venom ranks high in Spider-Man’s villain gallery, but there’s no Venom without the Black Suit story. Insomniac delivers on that story with great gameplay to match. Even though there are some issues with narrative and open-world execution, anyone who enjoyed Insomniac’s other Spider-Man games will feel right at home. Above all else, Spider-Man 2’s technical advancement warrants its Game of the Year consideration. Sony moved on from the PS4 and now fully harnesses the PS5’s power.
All in all, Spider-Man 2 is a worthy sequel to both of Insomniac’s previous entries and delivers a complex story that will please all fans of the webhead. Several interesting abilities for both Peter and Miles differentiate their combat styles, so you’ll need to deploy different strategies with each hero. Sidequests are a bit uneven between Peter and Miles, with the former confronting more serious criminals like the Flame. While Spider-Man 2 was marketed as a Peter Parker and Miles Morales duo adventure, the main story of the game feels more Peter-centric and falls short of truly embracing Miles as a second main character. Whether we like it or not, Spider-Man 2 is a Peter Parker story with Miles operating as a glorified secondary character. The Mary Jane Watson stealth missions make a return, though MJ is a much more formidable fighter in the sequel than before. Insomniac’s sequel introduces a few new villains, but the developer’s decision regarding previous villains is questionable, to say the least. Ultimately, Spider-Man 2 checks off the major boxes as an exciting sequel with a compelling story that will hook you in from the get-go. Go get’em, tigers.
Spider-Man 2 is hands down the best superhero game I've played yet and is the pinnacle of Insomniac's work. Every facet is better than the previous games, from the elevated story, acting, gameplay, visuals, fluidity, and more. This is the Spider-Man game I've always wanted, and then some.
