The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom Reviews
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom checks all the boxes of what players would want from their annual expansion and then some.
The Elder Scrolls Online Necrom gives us back the purest essence of this saga. Zenimax incorporates engaging content with a powerful narrative and new areas that exude personality inspired by the great Lovecraft, despite the standardization of each chapter year after year. Fans and new players will enjoy returning to Tamriel once again.

A great new storyline and a stellar new class mean Necrom is a fantastic addition to the long-running saga of The Elder Scrolls Online.
For the fans who are invested in the series there is a lot to find in Necrom, it even works if players have taken a break and want to jump back in. I fall on the latter side of things but as much as I enjoyed my time with the new class and in the new expansion, I don’t think I will be a full-time resident. It’s not that the game is bad at all, I just think the mission structure and all the ‘fetch quests’ to gain levels were a bit tedious for me. Necrom may be my ‘arrow in the knee’ as it stands for ESO. But that’s solely a me thing, I can say with some surety that long time fans of ESO are going to enjoy everything Necrom is bringing, and they can spend the next year thinking about the bombshell that is revealed during the story until the next expansion update.
The Necrom expansion of The Elder Scrolls Online stands out for its captivating atmosphere and richly detailed setting. The presence of Hermaeus Mora and the introduction of the Arcanist class add a surprising depth to the gameplay. Despite some potential improvements, the expansion offers a compelling new experience and reaffirms that ESO is destined to remain a force in the world of MMOs.

As with each generous and engaging new expansion, there is an abundance of excellent content to experience. Appealing new companions, distinctive new zones, and fantastical monsters are paired with a useful and fun-to-play Arcanist class. Necrom’s main quest is more mystical than political this time around, and there are some extra-challenging encounters out in the wild. As always I come away from The Elder Scrolls Online both impressed and disheartened that I don’t have more time to play.
Journeying through the Necrom Chapter on my new Arcanist was loads of fun. The new Arcanist class is very powerful, feels amazing to heal on, and has some of the most satisfying visual and sound effects I have ever seen in a class. The Apocrypha zone is a visual masterpiece, and Telvanni Peninsula makes you feel right at home in Morrowind. The main story was very engaging with a huge plot twist, and I can't wait to see how it all ends. This Chapter is a must-have for Elder Scrolls fans.
Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom adds enough to the ESO formula to make another compelling expansion, easy to recommend to veterans and new players alike.
For both newcomers and long-time players, The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom is a chapter that stands on its own. While previous knowledge of the game is not necessary to enjoy the self-contained story, it adds depth to the ongoing Shadow Over Morrowind narrative that unfolds throughout 2023 and beyond. The new environments may be a little "samey" and there might be a lack of extra content afterwards, but with the captivating storyline, the introduction of the Arcanist class, and a plethora of content to explore, Necrom is a recommended addition to the MMO.
Another solid chapter with a lot to keep you invested, the only real complaint is that it's more of the same. An interesting cast of supporting characters and the core mystery keeps the campaign engaging.
“Shadow Over Morrowind” may be ESO‘s overarching theme for this year, but The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom promises to be anything but dark and dreary for players… metaphorically speaking, of course. Necrom itself is pretty gloomy, and Apocrypha is… well, you’ll just have to see that one for yourself.
Despite some of its shortcomings, The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom came out as a good Chapter with its new playable class and new regions that successfully reflected the atmosphere.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom proves once again that ESO is the most stable MMO on the market. Every year like clockwork, there’s more quality content released. New stories to experience, new worlds to explore, and new mechanics to play with.
Necrom has everything you need from story to location to characters to keep you invested in the goings on in this MMORPG for the next year. It successfully builds upon all of the expansions before it, especially last year’s. Being released at this time, it’s a summer horror with Lovecraftian vibes that really sets apart from the other content in the game. It’s got a great questline, and the two new zones are a visual delight, and doing everything is easily 30 hours worth of content. For its seventh expansion, the team is showing no signs of fatigue as this is another fantastic addition. The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom is a great reason to revisit and hang out in the Morrowind province for a summer of Eldritch horror.
Even though the expansions are structured similarly every year, "Necrom" stands out with its great story and very special environment. Especially fans of the "Morrowind" or "City of Clockwork" add-ons can access here without hesitation. In addition, the Arcanist is quite action-packed and, with the crux mechanics, also slightly more complex than the previous classes. Only the various bugs are able to spoil the fun of the game slightly, and with the still very low level of difficulty, the developers would finally have to go over the books. Nevertheless, compared to the many other expansions, "Necrom" definitely occupies a top spot.

ZeniMax has largely adhered to their tried and true recipe for The Elder Scrolls Online story content. And while there is much success to be found, there is much that could be improved upon as we wrap up the year-long Shadow of Morrowind storyline bookending the Necrom chapter release. Looking ahead, it’s exciting to theorize what will come next. But for now, looking at Necrom as-is, we still have an amusing if by-the-books expansion drenched in the allure of the arcane arts and a truly stunning setting brought forth with Apocrypha. Whether you are a new player or someone looking to create their nth alt character, Necrom is sure to offer up hours of content to get lost in.
