Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Reviews
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Mobile is a visually solid adaptation with an immersive story. While it maintains the essence of the original, it suffers from unexpected crashes and touch limitations. It's better on console, but acceptable in handheld.

The Lost Crown is one of my favorite games of the year and maybe my favorite Prince of Persia game ever. The fluid and skill-expressive movement and combat really shine in this Metroidvania that shows there's still a place for the series in a post-Assassin's Creed Ubisoft.

Prince of Persia returns from the hand of Ubisoft with The Lost Crown, a metroidvania out of nowhere that surprises both for the quality with which it interprets the elements of the genre. A title that takes by surprise every lover of metroidvania and a must of this 2024.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a great game and a nice pivot for the dormant series. The combat is enjoyable, and the crisp controls translate well to platforming that requires a good deal of skill to master but rarely devolves into frustration. The puzzles do an excellent job of being tricky but satisfying to solve. You can still point at a few flaws, like the fact that the story is standard, but those are minor nitpicks that don't stop the game from being worthy of a classic adventure fan's library. For Switch owners, The Lost Crown shows how much power there is to tap in Nintendo's portable console.
In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown you are a young warrior who has to save the kidnapped Persian prince. The game is full of action and adventure and feels both classic and known, and at the same time totally innovative and original. Full speed run, jump, dive and fight your way through the game, where everything feels smooth and pleasant. This game is definitely recommended to add to your collection.

It is not for everyone, and it is not an easy game to pick up and casually run through. But for those who've played Metroidvanias like Dead Cells and Hollow Knight or intense platformers like Celeste and Super Meat Boy, The Lost Crown will offer more than just transferrable skills. It might also be the most accessible entry point into the genre for new players; the newest Prince of Persia is not as oppressive as some of its inspirations. And while some of its later platforming sections and mission design slow the game down, it never completely runs out of steam. The Lost Crown might just be the coronation the Prince deserved.
Driven by first-class gameplay and genuinely brilliant design, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown may just be the new standard bearer for an entire genre. A remarkable reboot that will excite fans of both Prince of Persia and Metroidvanias alike.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a pleasure to play and a welcome return for a series that has been dormant for far too long, even if it doesn’t have that much in common with its fully 3D ancestors. A weak story and a few pacing issues hold it back from breaking into the highest echelons of the Metroidvania genre and duking it out with the likes of Hollow Knight, but it’s pretty far up there and a fantastic way to kick off the year. It might even be in the top 10.
A Prince of Persia Metroidvania 2.5D side-scroller was not on my bingo card in 2024, but the game left me pleasantly surprised. While The Lost Crown may not be a high-budget blockbuster title, Ubisoft certainly understood the assignment and delivered a title that provides plenty of enjoyment. This is a solid game with its fast-paced and satisfying combat, interesting story and setting, and incorporation of authentic Persian mythology and art. I can recommend The Lost Crown not only to Prince of Persia fans but also to platformer lovers in general.
If you’re a fan of the Metroidvania genre, or action platforming games in general, I couldn’t recommend Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown more. The Lost Crown nimbly juggles combat, character progression, platforming, exploration, environmental puzzle-solving, boss encounters, and storytelling, all without neglecting one element to the detriment of another.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a great game and a nice pivot for the long-dormant series. The combat is enjoyable, since you never go through that expected moment of weakness like in other games. The crisp controls translate well to platforming that requires a good deal of skill to master but rarely devolves into frustration. The puzzles do an excellent job of being tricky but satisfying to solve. You can still point out a few flaws, like the fact that the story is fairly standard, but those are minor nitpicks that don't stop the game from being a title that's worthy of a classic adventure fan's library.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown with surely satisfy longtime fans while welcoming newcomers to the series with its superb blend of action and adventure. The gameplay is fast and precise, the graphics are attractive and crisp, the map is huge and chock full of secrets, and the excellent story is the icing on the cake. 2024 is off to an incredible start all thanks to Ubisoft and The Lost Crown.
Ubisoft revives one of its most important and assertive titles in its catalog. It’s not just a good metroidvania: it’s an excellent Prince of Persia.

The Lost Crown is a bold new entry for this series and a great entry point for players new to the genre.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s satisfying story combined with a wonderful approach to combat makes this metroidvania a highly enjoyable return to form for the long missing franchise.
My initial concerns were dispelled during the test. The beginning may take some getting used to, especially the lack of blocks. But once you arrive at Mount Qaf, the game really starts to get fun. The Prince's various movement styles, the innovative take on the Metroidvania genre, and the brilliant soundtrack are all a ton of fun. If you've played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you can easily wait even longer for the Sands of Time remake!

The Lost Crown isn't a perfect game. Quests can be buggy, graphical errors pop up now and then, and you may find yourself fighting to jump in the right direction. Overall, however, it's a magnificent package that's well worth your time. Sargon’s journey was a joy to experience, and I will long remember the elation from nailing a hard puzzle. What could have been a simple odd project from Ubisoft is instead both a love letter to a beloved genre and a wonderful next step for Prince of Persia. My only hope is that you can love the exploration and journey as much as I did.
