Sadly, Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t the return to form we were hoping for from Bioware. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad game, though.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a super enjoyable storyline that immerses you into the boots of Rook. The title is one of those titles that pulls you in and makes you want to keep playing.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is fantastic. It feels great to play, the length of the story is perfect and doesn’t break the pacing. It may not 100% capitalise on the darkness of previous games but it feels like this more positive angle was deliberate with the game and how the story is designed around it. Additionally, the way the game handles consequences for choices is great and really made the main decisions hit where it mattered so that the endgame was all the more worthy and emotional. Recommended to anyone wanting a fun action RPG that follows up Dragon Age’s existing story.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard can be considered a mixture of different ideas and opinions, the outcome of which does not have a clear shape, the conflict between the game's events and its designs, and the low level of the elements that once formed the DNA of the DA series, have resulted in a truly ordinary Action RPG title, similar to the one we see on the market and in many other titles, and it appears completely disappointing for people who have been waiting a decade to experience one of their favorite series again.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a very long time coming and while it’s arguable whether it fulfils fan expectation in a way that will make everyone happy, what Bioware and EA offer is a solid RPG that is a huge return to form for a studio that have fallen from grace in recent years. From its well-developed mechanics, deep lore, established, varied characters with interesting back and side stories, and a direct continuation of a saga we’ve waited on answers for, The Veilguard feels like a breath of new life for Dragon Age, whether you’ve been here since day one or you’re desperate to see what the hype is all about.

The fourth Dragon Age is once again a classic medieval fantasy with a dose of magic. However, the campaign is not as captivating and serious as it was in the previous installments, but it is at least partly balanced by the atmosphere and beautiful locations in which you can spend dozens of hours.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has taken some of the best elements of BioWare's storytelling and melded it with action RPG elements and character-building mechanics. Oh, and dragons!

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not aimed at loyal fans of the series but rather at younger gamers or those playing their first RPG. The game is crafted very solidly but uses many RPG elements very superficially.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is just what the franchise needed; a better contained story with some excellent characters. Quite a few decisions actually carried some serious weight, which can vastly affect the outcome of the game. There are multiple endings, and yes, plenty of your companions can die, so there’s a huge replayability factor. The pacing is well-balanced and the combat is a delight, making this game a blast to play from start to finish. Don’t listen to the nay-sayers; if you’re a fan of this franchise, then you simply can’t miss Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard not only honors the legacy of Dragon Age but also opens exciting possibilities for other Bioware productions—provided the studio can maintain this level of quality.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a game that, while not reaching the greatness of previous entries, offers a solid experience for fans of the series. With its well-crafted narrative, impressive visual design, and a world worth exploring, it manages to captivate. However, its repetitive combat, limited customization, and overly “safe” companions hold it back.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard combines a compelling story with complex team dynamics, in which choices influence relationships and the plot. The gameplay offers smooth action, strategic party-based combat and extensive exploration, with unique classes and specializations. The visually breathtaking world and powerful soundtrack make this fourth part to a peak in the series.

BioWare is a pioneer of RPGs with strong characterization, but here they showed just how far it's possible to falter. If you're looking for the classic they're famous for, you won't find that experience in Dragon Age Veilguard. While it's no longer the same team from the days of the original Mass Effect and Dragon Age, this game is a flop that tarnishes the brand's reputation. Veilguard is at best a missed opportunity, and at worst a sign of the fall of a giant.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will undoubtably be my 2024 Game of the Year. I was fully engaged for my 100+ hour run, leaving me both and fulfilled and bittersweet when it came to an end. While additional content from BioWare would be a welcome addition, the game stands strong as a complete experience. I’m already looking forward to diving back in for another run.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is very much destined to be a decisive experience due to its more action-orientated combat, its cast of characters, visual style, and its writing. While I don't agree with every choice made here, and a few less than impressive character arcs, as well as the lacking presence of its elven gods in its story, Dragon Age: The Veilguard gave me everything else I wanted from it. It's action-packed and visually pleasing, and its use of Solas is extremely well-crafted and more than kept me entertained. Dragon Age was always going to be a challenge to remain relevant and a crowd-pleaser after a decade away, but ultimately, I loved it and it's one of the best games this year.

The Veilguard is a new entry into an old series. A series that honestly has struggled to find its identity. Fans looking for this game to remind them of Origins will be sad when they play this. But make no mistake, this is a really good, fun game. I enjoyed the heck out of my experience here. And there is a lot of content in this game as well. The Veilguard is jam-packed with content, side quests, story, and lore drops galore. Sincerely, I think there is something for everyone in this game.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard shows a BioWare that wants to return to telling great single-player stories and taking us to fantastic places, but it only partially succeeds due to limited combat, a narrative with significant quality shortcomings compared to the past, and a technical aspect that suffers from the various identity changes the game has undergone over the years. Nevertheless, the new Dragon Age still remains fun to play, enticing to explore, and brimming with riches to experience and discover; thus, it deserves a chance from gamers.
