There are games that remind us why we fell in love with video games in the first place. In my opinion, Astro Bot is one of those games. It’s a phenomenally polished title, featuring great audiovisuals and, above all, brilliant gameplay that never gets boring. It's also a family-friendly game, perfect for everyone to enjoy together.
What is undeniable is that Astro Bot is worth every second you put into it.
Play Has No Limits has been PS5's campaign motto since the beginning, and Astro Bot truly defines it. With a tremendous amount of improvements over its predecessor, Astro Bot pushes the lines out wide when it comes to creativity and offers a satisfying experience to any gamer, regardless of age or interests.

If you own a PS5, then I do think Astro Bot is a must have for the system. Not only is it a fantastic platformer from start to finish with plenty of content for the 14 hours or so it takes to do everything, it’s also a love letter to PlayStation’s history and honestly even gaming as a whole. I honestly haven’t seen this many franchises represented in one game since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it was great that Sony even included series they don’t own, although some have a strong history on PlayStation as well.

The amount of dedication and passion that’s gone into Astro Bot is obvious in every pixel of every texture; there’s not a single bug, glitch, or texture issue to be seen. Its controls are easy to understand and incredibly tight, with Astro moving exactly how you need him to. In the 15 hours I’ve spent so far in finishing its campaign and going back to replay levels to pick up missing Bots, I’ve not encountered a single moment of frustration. It’s beautifully designed both in its self-contained levels and those dedicated to much-loved, Sony-exclusive franchises.
Astro Bot is a dream for platformer fans and should be played by anyone with a PS5. It won't convert dislikers of the genre, but it does everything right, is incredibly fun, looks great and couldn't celebrate 30 years of PlayStation any better

From start to finish, from top to bottom, no matter how you look at it, Astro Bot is simply sublime
ASTRO BOT can never be accused of being a tech demo, unlike its predecessor, as many of the ideas previously toyed with in Playroom are now fully fleshed out and in a way that feels just as much a love letter as it does a defiant creative statement in PlayStation's library. Whatever the future holds for this charismatic little robot, it is safe to say that ASTRO BOT is firmly planted as this historic company's new face.
Astro Bot convinces with a unique platforming experience and an impressive variety of worlds that are second to none. The creative level design and innovative power-ups make it a masterpiece in the 3D platformer genre. With its successful combination of nostalgic references, charming characters and outstanding gameplay, Astro Bot sets new standards and is an absolute must-have for every PlayStation collection!

I'm not just saying Astrobot is a great game because it's fun as a platformer, or because it's full of PlayStation nostalgia. Those constant references to other PlayStation hits—and even third-party games like Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, and Persona—are often cool and eye-opening. After the last game’s focus on hardware, this navel-gazing is also potentially turning into a crutch, though. The three Astro Bot games, collectively, are better than almost every other series that they make reference to. If at some point Sony thought a new mascot platformer—a genre not especially in fashion when the first standalone game starring Astro Bot came out in 2018—needed easter eggs to PlayStation systems and games to appeal to a modern audience, the ecstatic response to those platformers should have proven they can stand on their own by now. It’s not like this game is any less enjoyable just because there are little robot versions of Aloy and Gravity Rush’s Kat bopping around, but ultimately Astro Bot is as much about celebrating all these other games as it is celebrating itself. And that’s unnecessary: this adorable little nugget is more than lovable enough to support its own adventure. The spectacular Astro Bot is yet more proof.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Period. Astro Bot speaks for itself. Given the original Trojan Horse’s success, it’s no surprise that Team Asobi’s complete vision is a triumph, as evidenced by the rating below. While it’s not the most challenging platformer, this Sony title has few rivals in terms of sheer quality and inspiration, thanks to phenomenal artistic direction woven with tasteful fan service. Astro Bot’s strength lies in its ability to captivate through impeccable use of DualSense features, providing an experiential boost that's hard to replicate. After some tough days for PlayStation fans, Astro’s adventure couldn’t have arrived at a better time, showing Sony’s ability to hit the mark while keeping an eye on its past and future.
