It's hard to get upset at NBA 2K25. The recurring issues are still there, but the game can also give you a truly fantastic experience, and it's hard to imagine that any competitor could beat it. However, at the same time, the game doesn't really make an effort to come up with anything new, which is a shame.

Overall, NBA 2K25 delivers a solid gaming experience for all players, both in quality and content. It’s smooth and offers a range of modes to explore various facets of American basketball. While NBA 2K25 doesn’t introduce radical changes to the legendary franchise, the new mechanics and minor enhancements raise the bar for the experience, especially regarding control and in-game possibilities. The persistent “shadow” of microtransactions still makes the online experience somewhat burdensome, though it remains one of the most advanced available.

Overall, NBA 2K25 is a nice improvement over its predecessor, thanks to an excellent job of correcting several of the previous iteration's flaws. The gameplay is very solid (starting from the movement on offense, through the contestation of the opponent's shot, to the greater impact that the defense has and the very good AI). All the modes work with the exception of the one dedicated to the WNBA (which will hopefully get the right treatment in the future). However, the biggest flaw of the franchise has not yet been solved, and we refer to the microtransactions and the considerable amount of VC needed to improve your player's build; if you don't have a lot of time to devote to it, it is practically impossible not to use cash, which - in our view - is really an unacceptable constraint. That aside, NBA 2K25 is one of the best titles in the series, if not the best in years!

As always 2K Games have created an incredible homage to basketball. If you are a fan of the series then you will no doubt be picking this one up to add to your collection and I don’t blame you for doing so. With so many modes to get stuck into you will likely focus on one or two for the entirety of your gaming sessions. Again, I don’t blame you for doing so. My only concern for newcomers to the series is that there is too much to do. Too much that may cause a bit of gaming paralysis for some and they may turn off and go back to another game.

I will commend NBA 2K25 for being more accessible than basically any other modern iteration of the franchise I can think of, making this more of an interesting purchase for newcomers to the franchise. Veterans and/or fans will still buy this in droves, no matter what, so for them, this is just business (in more than one sense of the word) as usual.

While it’s a fantastic game once you actually reach the court, NBA 2K25 is going to full court press every player into starting MyCAREER and spending as much money as possible. There’s still an amazing basketball game in here if you can get to franchise mode or the thankfully overlooked WNBA career mode, but 2K is never going to stop pestering you to give them more money.

"this is easily the best that NBA 2K has been in recent memory. A shift in focus to the actual game of basketball away from the culture crap that had crept in is the biggest takeaway, but improvements in the City and in-game also significantly add to the experience."

Somewhere beneath all that greed, NBA 2K25 is a decent game from 2K Games. I've always pointed out how much effort Visual Concepts puts into this series, and it's admirable. But the game's initial pricing is $70, with the Hall of Fame edition costing $150, and every year, it feels like we're simply buying DLC for visual patches for that amount.

NBA 2K25 does a good job refining the gameplay and improving the feeling of realism in the matches, including the visual aspect. MyLeague amazes with its excellent, varied simulation options that go from the draft to a manager's office life. However, the microtransactions aggressiveness takes away all the potential and fun MyTeam and MyCareer could have. This and the absence of Showcase and MyNBA ERAS show signs that the franchise will soon have to reinvent itself not to become more of the same in a streak.

NBA 2K25 is still the premiere basketball game, which is an undeniable fact. With best-in-class gameplay and stellar visuals rooted in extremely strong foundations, basketball fans and aspiring rookies need not look elsewhere for their hoop fix. Sadly, the game’s reliance on VC is more noticeable this time around, and with MyCareer still a middling mode, players are offered a package that’s less enticing than before, despite fantastic additions like ProPlay and Signature Shots.

NBA 2K25 is another solid entry into the 2K franchise and once again proves why it is the best basketball game on the market. With its abundance of improvements and changes that slightly change 2K on a fundamental level, it invites new ways of playing the game of basketball. But with some modes like WNBA receiving little to no improvement or upgrade, it puts a slight blemmish on what otherwise is a great sports game.

With revamped animations, smooth gameplay and in-depth modes, it looks like a simulation that satisfies basketball fans, but there is still a long way to go.

NBA 2K25 comes up with full content again like every year. Next Gen technology on the PC side is nice, but it has a lot of problems. It needs to improve especially in terms of optimisation. We cannot ignore some errors in MyCAREER modes. However, the colourful atmosphere of the game manages to attract you.

I really enjoyed my time with NBA 2K25, with the improved gameplay and presentation standing out as major upgrades. The tweaks and additions to existing modes are a nice touch. The only thing that holds 2K25 back from being the best across the franchise is its progression balancing and over-reliance on microtransactions.

NBA 2K25 offers stacks of content, a robust tutorial system and some of the best gameplay in the series yet, though it's almost derailed by an over-reliance on microtransactions.

NBA 2K25 improves on many gameplay points and offers a variety of modes that should have something for everyone. It looks great graphically and plays well as usual, but still has an unpleasant focus on microtransactions, which constantly pops up in your face and stagnates somewhat in terms of new features.

With NBA 2K25 Visual Concepts has managed to merge the old and the new, improving on historical features and introducing new features that make the game even more addictive, complete, and accessible to all. The excellent Career mode, the most realistic gameplay ever, the top-notch technical department and the very high level of simulation make it a game to be purchased without hesitation, by veterans and newbies alike.
