For me, TrackMania Turbo just didn't earn the checkered flag. If you love time-trials, however, this is the racing game you've been waiting for.

Trackmania Turbo is a thrill ride, offering up some high-speed action that feels great from beginning to end. Complaints are minimal, and even though the cosmetic items are slow to earn unless you're a natural, it still feels good when they are unlocked. The sense of speed, simple to learn yet hard to master controls, and the consistent mechanics make the game truly come together as a great arcade racer with some surprisingly consistent, almost simulation-grade mechanics like cornering and drifting.

TrackMania Turbo is damn near perfect for an arcade racer. Its difficulty and progression system may chase away some, but those who stick around for the long run are in for some truly rewarding speeding.

Trackmania Turbo isn't substantially different from other games in the series: it's polished, fleet, and enjoyable. That makes it a great purchase for long-neglected console players, but it offers less to series veterans on PC.

Trackmania Turbo is a fast and challenging game, which offers a lot of content despite its small install size. It is, however, somewhat frustrating and demanding, which means that it won't be for everyone. That said, there's a large community of gamers who love this type of experience, and those folks will eat it up.

Accessible, witty and nice-looking racing game, that is excellent especially in its multiplayer part.

Trackmania Turbo brings its unique blend of thrill ride, arcade and puzzle racing to current generation consoles, and purely speaking about gameplay, is probably the best title in the series – it's certainly turned into my favourite of the bunch.

Trackmania Turbo is an amalgamation of arcade racers from over the years, and the attention to detail really shines through.

Trackmania Turbo combines the thrill of arcade racing with the addictive short-form challenges of games like Trials. The track design is exemplary, if seemingly intentionally designed to elicit the maximum possible amount of frustration from players, and the pick-up-and-play nature of the game makes the barrier for entry incredibly easy.

As an arcade racer, it 's possibly the most fun you can have with the laws of physics. Some may be put off by the lack of a more competitive race mode, but for the majority, this colourful, simple and above all, addictive game is one of the most enjoyable racers to hit consoles in quite some time.

Nadeo have succeeded in turning people who normally wouldn't care about breaking records on a track into drivers that do. Trackmania Turbo's biggest strength comes from the restart button, located right on the front of the gamepad (or just above the directional keys if you are playing on a keyboard). You know when you've messed up and you can easily turn to the 'just one more go' button that allows you to start over again. It doesn't take long before you end up hammering on that restart button for hours on end.

Considering its budget pricing, there's a heck of a lot to love about Trackmania Turbo. As I said earlier it really is an acquired taste, for that masochistic lot that get a kick out of shaving tenths of seconds off theirs and other people's time, Nadeo's latest is a winner. It's the sort of thing I find myself frantically throwing in the last few minutes of my lunch break, desperate to catch a quick session or smash a new record.

Trackmania Turbo is a triumph. It nods back to console racers of yesteryear, provides speed, action, addictive gameplay, more than a few "wow!" moments and beyond the bundled 200 campaign courses, provides a potentially endless supply of content in the form of a robust track creation system. Should you clear the solo mode, you can take your car out into online play and you'll find a whole new world of fun and enjoyable events that all work flawlessly. Every corner has been rounded off and every surface has been polished here, and that's much to the developer's credit. Excellent stuff.

As with so many games, TrackMania Turbo has mistaken large headline grabbing numbers on the back of the box as a good thing. Stripping away a lot of the flab, leaving you with less tracks, would have played far better to the games strengths.

TrackMania Turbo is missing some crucial features from the past PC iterations, however the core formula of racing for times on crazy tracks is intact enough to still provide some basic fun.
