Steel Seed has a lot to say and a lot to show you, presenting a narrative-heavy game with some incredible scenery and cinematic moments. However, I personally found the gameplay a little underwhelming, and was a bit polarized by the story and characters. It’s a game I can certainly see others enjoying, even if it wasn’t really for me.

Steel Seed represents a nice compromise between inspiration and identity, between accessibility and depth. Its cyberpunk atmospheres reference the cornerstones of the genre, and the gameplay recalls (sometimes too much) some of the most appealing productions of recent years. Steel Seed nevertheless remains a nice step forward for our Storm in a Teacup.

Steel Seed is an enjoyable mix of stealth, parkour, and combat with a solid story and creative mechanics—while some enemy encounters feel a bit unbalanced and the robots lack personality, the strategic use of Koby, satisfying stealth, and rewarding exploration make it a strong and memorable experience overall.

After hours of playing, Steel Seed has earned a spot as one of my favorite stealth games in recent memory. It’s not flashy. It’s not trying to reinvent the genre. But what it does, it does with care, style, and substance. This is a game for players who like to think their way through a challenge, who enjoy immersive worlds that don’t yell at you, and who appreciate games that respect your time and intelligence. If that sounds like you, give Steel Seed your attention. It deserves it.

Steel Seed has hints of an enjoyable story and fun platforming, stealth, and action gameplay, but suffers from pacing and progression to the point that the experience could not be saved even by the great visual and sound design.

Steel Seed can be a good distraction in the first few hours, but, unfortunatelly, it quickly becomes repetitive. Overall, it feels like an average game from the PlayStation 2 era, but it doesn't do anything particularly well or exceptionally enough to avoid falling into the category of completely forgettable.

Steel Seed defines humanity, even if it spells it out. There’s little nuance, and the twists about its story aren’t at all surprising.

Steel Seed is an ambitious project that shows how the Italian indie scene is growing, with courage and a clear identity. The game has its flaws, including technical issues, some design oversights, and a narrative that struggles to fully take off, but its heart is definitely in the right place. You can feel it in the artistic direction, in the desire to offer a customizable experience to players, and in the effort to deliver something that still manages to entertain a modern audience, at least in part. It’s an experience that deserves attention, especially for those who love indie games and want to support a growing development scene. With proper patches at launch and the addition of the promised voice-overs, Steel Seed could turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

Steel Seed is yet another demonstration of the talent of Italian software houses. Storm in a Teacup realizes a wide-ranging sci-fi adventure, combining a top-notch graphical presentation with a deep narrative as well as an absolutely exuberant gameplay mix of fast-paced combat, dynamic platforming and tantalizing stealth. This is a genuinely amazing product at times, but one that in its current state is flawed on the technical optimization front and the unevenness of some interactions. Get ready to help Zoe and KOBY: humanity's survival is at stake.

All in all, however, "Steel Seed" is a coherent action-adventure with likeable main characters and a gripping story. So, if you're looking for a linear gaming experience away from the open-world blockbusters, you'll definitely find a suitable alternative here.

Steel Seed is the perfect game to jump in to after Split Fiction and Assassins Creed Shadows. Its setting and combat reminded me of one of my favorite games, Star Wars Jedi Survivor. As a fan of stealth games, this game provides a solid experience that will not disappoint. The game never overstayed its welcome and constantly provided new experiences keeping the game fresh throughout my 12 hours with the game.

Steel Seed's great dilemma lies in the fact that it presents promising ideas, but which constantly come up against clear limitations in execution.
