Tales of Xillia Remastered Reviews
Tales of Xillia Remastered shines with quality-of-life improvements, thrilling combat, and memorable heroes, though some old issues remain.
Tales of Xillia Remastered doesn’t just revisit a fan-favourite, it refines it. With expressive writing, fluid combat, and thoughtful upgrades, it’s a heartfelt JRPG that still holds its own.
Tales of Xillia Remastered successfully brings the original title to modern consoles while maintaining its charm and warts. It won't change anyone's opinion who played it over a decade ago, but it is the best option for those who want to experience this title in the beloved Tales series for the first time.
Tales of Xillia has so many strengths and so many weaknesses, inherent to that era of video games in general, which I feel a lot of nostalgia for, and even without having had prior contact with the Tales series, that's what I felt throughout my entire playthrough, and I was transported to a past time.

Tales of Xillia Remastered doesn’t beg for attention, and maybe that’s why it feels so timeless. It’s comfortable in its own skin, faster, cleaner, but still true to the spirit that made it special. It remembers that character-driven storytelling and fluid combat are what keep people coming back, not photorealism or open-world checklists.
This remaster does what it's supposed to do. It frees the original from the clutches of the PlayStation 3 and gives new fans the option to play it without too much effort. It's not the best installment in the franchise (in my opinion), partly due to the somewhat mediocre gimmickry of several main characters and because the game feels a bit unfinished in places. However, it's currently the best way to play it for both new and old fans.

Tales of Xillia Remastered is an excellent JRPG, featuring a great story and outstanding combat. It does have some flaws that may hint at a limited budget, which weren’t addressed in this remaster due to its focus on improving resolution and performance only. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include a Brazilian Portuguese translation, but it remains a fantastic game for fans of the franchise and lovers of quality JRPGs.

All in all, despite its flaws, Tales of Xillia Remastered is still a wonderful JRPG, even over a decade later. The remaster provides many reasons why fans of the genre will enjoy and appreciate the game.
Tales of Xillia Remastered is a heartfelt return for longtime fans and a welcoming entry point for newcomers seeking a classic JRPG adventure with dynamic action combat. It offers a rich journey filled with charming characters and a battle system that still holds strong today. While its pacing can be slow and its visuals show the game’s age, there’s plenty to love if you look past that. The remaster may not innovate, but it faithfully brings a beloved tale and timeless gameplay to modern platforms—perfect for anyone craving an old-school action RPG with plenty of heart.

Bandai Namco is now two for two when it comes to bringing back old Tales of games. Xillia Remastered smooths out many of the original’s frustrating bits with smart quality-of-life improvements that make revisiting Rieze Maxia feel more comfortable than it ever was on the PS3. However, this fidelity means that the original game’s shortcomings are still present; its implementation of dual protagonists feel uneven, and exploration can be linear or even bland at times. Fortunately, these flaws are offset by a good narrative bolstered by a memorable cast of strong characters and their heartfelt interactions. Even with its dated quirks, this is still a well-done remaster that shows respect for the original game and for the fans who loved it back in 2013.
A solid and smooth port of a defining JRPG, Tales of Xillia Remastered delivers an enjoyable experience with its engaging co-op battle system and thoughtful quality-of-life improvements. The charming cast and vibrant world remain as captivating as ever, but the dated user interface and a handful of minor bugs hold it back from feeling truly modern.
Tales of Xillia Remastered takes you on a rich, fun, and emotionally charged journey through the world of Reza Maxia, whether you're playing it for the first time or going back to an old favorite.
After playing Tales of Xillia Remastered for hours, it’s clear that Bandai Namco didn’t try to make a new game. Instead, they wanted to remind people of what made the first game so good. As a result, the game has a charm that feels timeless, and the carefully made changes enhance it rather than detract from it.

Overall, Tales of Xillia is still a worthy JRPG all of these years later, and fans really shouldn't sleep on it. The battle system alone is what carries this title, but the great cast of characters doesn't hurt either.
