Superhot executes the ideas at its core without flaw, but doesn't step very far outside of those bounds. If you're looking for something to shake up your view of what can be done in a shooter, this is the game for you.

Once free of the arduous and obnoxious trappings of its main mode of play, Superhot is nothing short of a delight. At its core is a gameplay mechanic that deserves to be revisited, only next time we hope it's all held together significantly better.

A puzzle game dressed like a twisted, Cronenberg-inspired shooter, Superhot's methodical, slow-motion approach to the genre is as cerebral and deliberate as it is unhinged.

There are many words that could be used to describe SUPERHOT. Cool, addictive, stylish, fun, enjoyable…take your pick. What the development team have done is take a game mechanic that sounds like an excellent idea on paper and turned it into something special by fleshing out a game around it that does it justice and then layering on different ways of playing in the post-game. It flat out tells you to say this but we'd be saying it anyway: SUPERHOT is one of the most innovative shooters that we've played in years. Absolutely essential.

Superhot is a game that can get very confusing and frustrating at times, but if you persevere with it, you are rewarded with the knowledge that if you were thrown into the matrix tomorrow, you would be able to survive. For now…..

The Polish title SUPERHOT is a clear proof that even a simple idea can produce an excellent game that brings something new to the FPS genre. If you like innovative games, you should include SUPERHOT in your game library. It's an unusual experience that captivates you and won't let go.

SUPERHOT provides a tremendously innovative deconstruction of the FPS genre. It's easy to be seduced by the simplistic gameplay only to find your hours sucked away by continued play.

It may not be the deepest game we've played this month, but it's pretty darn entertaining.

There are speed runs, challenges and endless survival modes to add longevity, but it takes a special kind of game to provide such a lean playtime with such self-assured verve. That is Superhot all over: stylish, confident and perfectly formed.

SUPERHOT is both simple and complex, cold looking yet made with so much love. It is a unique and innovative game. I can't wait to play this in VR, since at it's heart, that platform is where this game belongs. MIND IS SOFTWARE.

Superhot is short but full of style and substance, taking an inventive mechanic to its furthest and providing a unique shooter experience. The current offering is slim, but unlike anything else around.

A wonderful experience only marred by its brevity.

Superhot might not be a FPS in the vein of Call of Duty or Battlefront but it has it's place in the landscape as a thoughtful, interesting, and artistically striking game. It brings unique style, compelling puzzling, and a method of making trial and error engaging that is seldom found in other games. Superhot is one of those rare games that anyone can sit down with, make total sense of, and come away classifying it as a great experience.

Slick, stylish, sweet, there are probably more superlatives beginning with S that I could use to describe Superhot but I think you get the idea.

Superhot is a PC-based first-person shooter that offers some of the most unusual, hypnotic gameplay ever seen in the genre.

For how great the core mechanics of Superhot are, I wish there was more to it and much more of it...Superhot leaves plenty on the table, there is more these mechanics can do and for how great the game is it is a shame that it only scratches the surface of its ideas.

Price and player expectations do matter, and that's forcing me to temper my praise just a bit. Superhot is a game with truly excellent, original mechanics and a core experience that is constantly doing exciting things without wasting a second of your time. If price weren't a factor it would easily get a 9.0 or even higher.

So yes, Superhot might be a one trick pony but it plays that one trick well. And while some might take offence to its subversiveness, what with the fact that it's not a first-person shooter but rather a first-person puzzler, the bigger issue lies with the lack of content. Unless you're a completionist, there's very little reason to come back to it when you're done. Considering how cheap other games are on Steam, you could do much better with your money or wait for a sale before picking this up.
