Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC leaves players asking for more from the multiplayer maps but Der Eisendrache makes up for Treyarch's and Activision's inadequacies.
After the undead Exo-based antics of Advanced Warfare, and the more recent Cthulhu-inspired 'Shadows of Evil', it feels like the zombies mode has gone back to its Nazi roots with 'Der Eisendrache'. This, combined with the four new multiplayer maps, ensure that Awakening is a solid first entry to Treyarch's planned content that should keep the armchair warriors busy until the next scheduled drop.
So that's it! you'll get 4 great maps and while I definitely have my preference I can honestly say I'm never disappointed with which map is picked in the rotation. They are all good in their own way, just like the kid at school who licked the chalkboard when no one was looking.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III's season of content kicks off with a solid start.
I used to consider the zombies mode an afterthought. Something I'd tackle when I am bored or just tired of getting slaughtered online. Now; however, it is almost my immediate go to mode.
Awakening as a whole shows how good Black Ops 3 can look, and there's a few gorgeous locations spread across the multiplayer maps as well. Those obviously inject some welcome variety into the competitive playlists – well, once the handful of glitches have been ironed out – but for me and many others, Der Eisendrache is the standout addition.
If you're still playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 or you're looking for a reason to come back, Awakening may be just what you were waiting for. It's not perfect, but it balances the low points (Rise) with high points (Splash and Gauntlet), and has a damn fine Zombies campaign to boot. Black Ops 3 continues in its quest to bring variety, creativity, and intrigue to its content, and Awakening doesn't fail to impress.
Awakening is a solid start for Black Ops 3's DLC catalogue, with some moments of excellence punctuated with patches of dull dreariness. Gauntlet and Skyjacked provide excellent, fast-paced fun in most modes, while Splash could also become a favourite in time. Rise deserves no praise for its cookie-cutter style, but Der Eisendrache is easily one of the most unique and fun Zombies experiences to date, despite its occasional shortcomings. All in all, despite its slightly steep price, Awakening provides the pep pills needed to keep Treyarch's latest alive and kicking.
Awakening is worth the price of admission. Treyarch has always done well with creating a solid multiplayer experience through creative MP maps and Awakening just reaffirms that notion.

V0n den 4 neuen Multiplayer Karten überzeugen leider nur 2, aber dafür bekommt ihr mit „Der Eisendrache“ eine wirklich gelungene Zombie Karte. Fans des Zombie Modes der Black Ops Serie können hier ohne Bedenken zugreifen. Falls ihr nur auf der Suche nach neuen Maps für den Multiplayer seid, solltet ihr eher abwarten, bis der DLC etwas günstiger wird, oder ihr greift direkt zum Season Pass.

A competent map pack featuring two that are very good, one that's extremely popular, and one not very good map.
For those not interested in the franchise, Awakening will do little to change your mind. However, for fans of the series, the first DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops III features a solid collection of maps and an excellent Zombie mode addition that more than justify the cost of the pack.
[R]egardless of how one happens to feel about the cast switch, Awakening still makes for a pretty attractive bit of DLC for anyone who's still playing – and would like to keep playing – Call of Duty: Black Ops III. If future DLC drops keep pace, season pass holders should feel like they're getting their money's worth.
Plain and simple, Black Ops III's Awakening delivers and is worth your 15 bucks if you're looking for some fresh maps with solid architecture and an additional Zombies offering for you twisted freaks that love the heart-pounding scary stuff. Dive in with full force and you won't regret it.

As Nikolai even remarks during Der Eisendrache, "will there ever be an end to this nightmare?" Not as long as Activision keeps selling DLC, there isn't! But one man's nightmare is another man's video game, and the good news is that each Call of Duty developer has been pushing itself harder in recent years to justify the price. If you still play Black Ops III, you can't really go wrong with Awakening -- especially since the new maps are now built into normal playlists from the get-go.
